Anomalopidae (lanterneye fishes or flashlight fishes) are a family of fish distinguished by bioluminescent organs located underneath their eyes, for which they are named.
These light organs contain luminous bacteria and can be "shut off" by the fish using either a dark lid or by being drawn into a pouch. They are used to communicate, attract prey, and evade predators.
These rarely seen fish are nocturnal and found in the Indo-Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea.

Lampreys are scary
You only say that because pictures are always focused on their weird toothy mouths. In profile they look like Connecticut Clark
luv that horror stories always focus on certain types of toys as being creepy: dolls, dollhouses, etc. nobody is ever like woaaaaahhggg this melissa & doug grocery play set is haunted
It is time for the rawest of fuckin data
Anyways, this isn't the FINAL information i just wanted to show yall a snippet before i put everything together (which will take time bc im a full time student and i work)

Overall we had 454 responses!
Q1 was generally about autistic identity.
80.4% of respondants identified as autistic (self or professional diagnosis was acceptable). 12.5% were unsure and 7% did not identify as autistic. I included a chart.
Q2 asks about if the respondent currently has an interest in fishes/marine life or if they have in the past.
83% of respondents said they do have a current interest in fishes, while 10.8% used to. 6.2% never had an interest in fishes.
As far as reasoning goes with regards as to why autistics like fishes: I haven't gone through EVERYTHING yet, but the common trends so far are: Comfort, they got there from a different special interest, the amount of diversity within fish groups, and because a lot of them are unusual. I'll go more into depth when i read them all and write my thingy.
What id do differently: In the future I wouldve liked to include one part for other neurodivergents and one for neurotypical folks, just cuz it'd be cool to see if there's a difference between why we like it vs neurotypicals. This was just to find out why autistics tend to like fishes so much, so that was something that popped into my mind AFTER i had gotten a fair amount of responses. I'd mosty just wanna focus on tightening up my questions.
I'll try to get the writing out when i can!
You heard me? Aight.
Designs for people who didn't notice my other posts ^^
Spoilers start UNDER THE CUT.
OMORI cast as Iterators! In order , Sunny, Omori, Mari, Hero, Aubrey, Basil and Kel. I will post more about them later in reblogs, tagged #Rain World and #OMORI Iterator AU
I will have to sleep soon so just base info for now ^^
They have So much lore. I might answer asks (with aforementioned tags)
For ppl who don't care about RW spoilers: Iterators - supercomputer artificial gods, made to work on The Problem forever. I assume there are 3 generations based on eras they were built in and 4th for experimental models The Problem - Immortality, a cycle of resurrection. everything respawns in that world and its a real thing The Solution=Triple Affirmative - a way to stop the cycle of resurrection/reincarnation, that is generally applicable, and is possible. That isn't another way that they already found but don't like The Core/Rarefaction cell - eternal source of energy for an iterator. There is usually one or several and we don't know how many. I assume 1. Ancients - old civilization that built the iterators and moved to live in Colonies on top of them as the surface became uninhabitable Mass Ascension - All Ancients going and using the old way to exit the cycle that they didn't like. Essentialy giving iterator projects up but leaving them to solve the problem for the rest of the world.
