METS ARE HEADIN' TO CALI PEOPLE
it keeps going, it just keeps going. W a Lindor grand slam to make a 1-0 into a 1 - 4.
Holy heck, they have been incredible. These Mets are good, but they also have a CULTURE - memes, plenty of team spirit, resilience in their harshest moments. They are at the top of the game, but that's not too special, there's a fantastic team that makes it every year in the mlb - this team brings JOY to every victory, moments to every score card. That's what makes 2024 so magical. And actually, that's the energy that's brought the Mets to winning the World Series their first time right? The little team who was the worst in baseball in 1964 won 5 years later (ish, been a while since I've seen the stat). It's where all the losin' Mets jokes started, and where the Mets got all their quirkiness from. And then they smashed peoples expectations in 1969 and then they also got the "amazins" and the "miracles" and the "you gotta believe"s. It's the type of team where you're not looking for a result - ur watching a ride. And holy HECK we're getting it.
LGM!!!
haha, love it! Ur so right. I'd just like to add a brief HC;
so I'm a rifle instructor at a gun range for a junior club. At the end of our sessions the instructors pick up the shells - only the ones to be reused or sold as scrap, though. It's possible that depending on the material (being biodegradable or valuable) slingers would just leave it there.
furthermore (this is probs wack to the average person oops) a lot of kids like going into the firing range (WHEN THE RANGE IS COLD) to help clean up the shells, and it's not uncommon that when a kid sees a cool looking one (it's big, it's dirty, it's dented, it's neon pink, it's green, it was rare ammo, it was EXPENSIVE ammo, the shape is funny) they'll pick it up and keep it as a keepsake. I got a few from my own junior days. (Just please, please wash you hands after touching ammo shells. Cold water. Must be cold water. 30 seconds. Soap. Orange Non-lead soap if you can. Lead exposure is NOT FUN.)
so....new hc, I think kids in Slugterra pick up shells for fun, plus they are useful when getting older and they're learning how to shoot. But if they're really well-working or expensive, or could be sold for scrap, the slingers themselves go through great lengths to get back their shells. (Not to mention - the rarer the gun (like Eli's), the less compatible the chamber is to the average shell., unless shell and chamber sizes and blaster force have been following a set standard across blaster shops for decades already). They would not be laying on the ground for long. You would not believe how obsessed range officers get at their scrap metal deposit side-hussle...the janitor stole the lead my coach was gonna deposit one year...
This has been bugging me ever since I got into Slugterra: Where the hell do slug shells even come from? Do slingers pick them up after duels? Is there a limit to the number of times a shell can used to sling? I have my own ideas but I like hearing other people.
Im dumb when it comes to technical stuff, but for me, these three Slugidoes help when having to think about this kind of thing
[SI-2 Blasters and You]
[SI-6 Slug Retrieval]
[SI-14 A Bried History of Slugslinging]
I SWARE there was a Slugidoe that explained the Shell/Berrals thing, but I might have hallucinated it, or it was explained in an episode briefly-
But the long of my take is that they are manufactured by Balster manufacturers and are used to house slugs while on the move and for loading them into a blaster.
Before Blasters Slingers(and slugs) would use just about anything to help a slug reach their Valosimorph.
The Shells/Berrals are reusable, and depending on the type of blaster you own, it will determine how much of a mess you make in a duel lmao
For instance, there are Gatling typ blasters but they don't fart out Shells/Berrals like a Gatling gun would after firing, the Shells are hooked to the blaster, like a revolver, and rotate, allowing a Slinger to shoot multiple slugs in quick succession, and reload multiple slugs as once, at the disadvantage of it being heavy, and take a bit longer to load.
One Shell/Berrals Blasters, like Eli's typically have you pushing out the previous shell to load in a new one with a slug in it already, but I believe it's been shown a slug can be loaded into a blaster with a Shell already in it and fired.
Over all clean up depends on the situation.
Tournament? Cleaning crew most likely.
Duel against an enemy? Probably collecting them after the fights over, or there probably staying on the ground, see the Episode Bandoler of Brothers for an example of that.
Probably a whole job to go out and collect them.
Overall, Shells/Berrals are a reusable resource, with the only limitations being how many you can carry on your person at a time and what's needed for the model of blaster you own!
I also like to think they are customizable!
Blakk Industries makes red Berrals, though they might just be stained from Dark Water lol
truth is, I'm a Mets fan, and while thats not a big deal usually, this week has been a goddamn MOVIE PLOTLINE and all my free time has been devoted to keeping up with 2024 Met Lore.
for example: few days ago Pete Alonso and his wife went pumpkin picking and he brought a "lucky pumpkin" with him for the game that evening and he gushed about it being like a baseball in an interview.
gosh this team is running on dorks and memes its wonderful
HOLY SHIT WE FOUND IT GO SEE THE POST LADS THEY FOUND OMFG OMFG OMFG-
THE GREATEST ARCHEOLOGIST OF OUR TIME!!!!
one of my fav things to thing about is why the Shane's were entrusted w the surface knowledge. Like I have a bunch of theories, many of which I will write on ao3...eventually.
the Shane's could've done what Yang did, only in the context of native Americans/settlers in the new world who needed to escape the surface for whatever reason. The Shane's could have used to be kinda evil, using surface knowledge to give themselves money and power and keep a hold of Slugterra, till one generation decided to be heroes instead. Maybe the portals were used and the worlds knew of each other, but then some big war w the SC and dark bane closed off all their hope of conscious peace, so the shadow clan allowed only the families they trusted to know and keep track of everything and foil any plans of integration. And MAYBE, this is why the shadow clan and master shanai don't exactly worship the shame name; they consciously make Eli prove his worth of being a shane that can do that, and will choose others if necessary. But yeah, they separated a looooooong time ago.
but the cool things is that we're playing with THOUSANDS OF YEARS of history. All THREE can be canon. Maybe the Edwardian Shane's fucking sucked and killed people. Maybe the Shane's during the colonial era saw native Americans and woman prosecuted and were like "bro u wanna run away? we can help!". ....you know what just happened, w me writing this out? If the Shane family has been strictly blood relations and Eli's fam goes back 2k years, Eli has to be Native American.
wAIT MAYBE THATS WHY THE SHANES SUPER CLOSED OFF THE SURFACE, LIKE THEY SAW PPL GETTING REALLY SICK 1400S ONWARD AND THEY DIDNT WANT A PLAGUE OF MEASLES TO TAKE OUT SLUGTERRA. okay this took a turn.
what is this reblog I'm so sorry
Is there any sort of fannon (or even better, cannon) timescale for slugterra? Everyone in the 99 seems to have genuinely forgotten what the surface is like, which would take a while. There are irl stories that use constellations that mention stars that don’t exist anymore, stars have died before we forgot. Not to mention the weirdly accurate visuals Gar had of surface cities. So does anyone know when the 99 caverns officially got “cut off” from the surface?
Was it a really really ancient separation that’s only been blurred once the Shane’s went down (or came up??? Idk) hence Gar’s accurate poster visuals? Like the “first Shane” just blabbed cause they didn’t realise that mixing the two worlds could be harmful? And their ancestors have just been eternally doing PR cleanup? Or was it a recent cut off that people have forgotten super fast somehow??
Trixie mentions in 'A Distant Shore' that her mom used to tell her stories about the 'Burning World'
ive always been under the impression that all myths and stories hold some truth to them, but over time the details get exaggerated, lost or changed to fit a given narrative the story teller wants to tell.
so while im not 100% sure about cannon info on the timeline of the Caverns and Surface being separated, I would bet it had something to do with the Terra Portals, Shadow Clan and the Dark Bane.
If the Surface and Slugterra interacted, there would be old text's, but because it's in an old language no one speaks and the art left over would be vague as hell, and there have probably been hundreds of artistic interoperations of what the Burning World might look like over the years, so the illustrations Gar has are probably his, and where most likely influenced by the pictures in Jimmo's journal depending on when he got it.
As for the Shane's, I think there one of a handful of people who know the full truth, and shared the story in full for generations.
this is a personal HC, but-
I think there was a war of some kind involving the people of Slugterra/Surface, the Shadow Clan and Dark Bane, hundreds of years ago, one that separated the Eastern and Western Caverns(Possibly a Northern and Southern Caverns as well), and caused the Terra Portals to become largely inactive for the most part, and in the aftermath the Surface and Caverns where left separated, but before contact was fully cut the Shadow Clan entrusted seiten people with the knowledge of how to get back underground because of what they did during the war to protect Slugterra, the Shane's being one of those families. over the years, more and more families forgot, or died out, leaving the Shane's one of the very few and possibly only ones that take the drop and still protect the Caverns all theses' hundreds of years later
again, pure headcannon with no real evidence
its a crazy rabbit whole to go down, and I would like to hear others thoughts on it from the community!
todays the only/last day you can reblog this lol
