Idk why but I feel compelled to say that the Lion King II is not as bad as many "Lion King Purist" make it out to be. Sure I understand that some roles have been recast and it ruins the "nostaliga" but for me that doesn't ruin the experience. I see it common to dismiss straight to DVD disney sequels as low quality cash grabs, and I get it, many of them clearly show it. But there's something different about this one, the quality in animation, the voice acting, the soundtrack, it's above other straight to DVD Disney movie sequels.
Lion king II was as much a part of my childhood as The Lion King. When LK1 came out I didn't see it. I was literally born that year. It wasn't until 1998 that I saw it, the same year LK2 came out. I had both of them and throughout my childhood I would watch both of them in a row. The soundtrack is burned into my mind.
And man that soundtrack. Lion King II's soundtrack is BANGERS yo! I'd say it's on par with the original Lion King's soundtrack but that's just my wild take.
He lives in you and We are one touch my soul
Upendi is such a fun falling in love song, visuals are great, lyrics are cool
One of us is AMAZING like...y'all how can anyone hate this?
And Love will find a way gives me chills tbh. I'm a sucker for duets and this one its...idk I just love it so much
Just look at that animation. This is is not your 2nd rate cash-grab make-a-quick-buck movie animation. You can see and hear the love put in it.
Now I do not know the history or any hardships that the cast and animators went when making this movie, I'm just comparing the animation quality of this one to other Disney DVD sequels.
Guys, I don't know how to end this. I just felt like saying that Lion King II is great. No it's not better that The Lion King but that is no reason to dismiss it. If you haven't seen it give it a watch, enjoy the soundtrack.

Atlantis is like if they took a cast from a work place related comedy (think Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, The Office) and instead of low-stakes hijinks sent them on an Epic Quest
and it’s great

Doctor Strange in Avengers: Endgame
If you have walked into a museum recently - whether you did so to attend an art exhibition or to escape from the police - you may have noticed a type of painting known as a triptych. A triptych has three panels, with something different painted on each of the panels. For instance, my friend Professor Reed made a triptych for me, and he painted fire on one panel, a typewriter on another, and the face of a beautiful, intelligent woman on the third. The triptych is entitled What Happened to Beatrice and I cannot look upon it without weeping.
I am a writer, and not a painter, but if I were to try and paint a triptych entitled The Baudelaire Orphans’ Miserable Experiences at Prufrock Prep, I would paint Mr. Remora on one panel, Mrs. Brass on another, and a box of staples on the third, and the results would make me so sad that between the Beatrice triptych and the Baudelaire triptych I would scarcely stop weeping all day.
