{Part 1}Â {Part 2}
A/N: I told myself I was going to update once a week, but Iâve already written through part 6. So, I was getting impatient with myself. Iâm not sure how many parts this will have but it has 6 complete parts so far.Â
âWhat?â You looked at your mom in utter shock. Your mother dropped a bomb on you, well at least thatâs what it felt like.
âI know, itâs a shock, and with your career you donât need a baby.â Your mom said. You looked down at your niece as she cooed in your arms. She didnât deserve any of what was happening.Â
âNo, I-â You stopped. âI will take her. I know you and dad are capable, but I think it would be better for everyone if I took her.âÂ
âHoney, are you sure? Your career is taking off and you have such odd hours.â Your mother was just wanting to make sure you knew you had options.
âIâm sure.â You said. âIf thatâs what she wanted then thatâs what I will do.â You kissed your niece on her chubby cheeks and she giggled.
Your mom nodded. âAlright hun.â She squeezed your hand again.
You ate breakfast, and felt like your haze was getting thicker. Most of the day was spent sitting around and talking. Your parents went and made arrangements for your sisterâs funeral.
You texted Chris throughout the day, but you never told him about your niece. As the day progressed, you needed to tell someone. Finally, you messaged Chris and asked if you could call him. He, of course, said yes.
You tapped the phone icon under his name and it began ringing. You were sitting on the back patio as Olivia napped in her swing.
âHey Y/N! How are you doing?â He asked.
âUmm, well I was doing better until my mom informed me of something.â You told Chris.
âWhat was the news? Iâm guessing it was something big.â Chris asked, genuinely wanting to know what was bothering you.
âMy sister has appointed me to become the legal guardian of my niece. She never told me she was doing that.â You admitted to Chris. âSheâs two months old.âÂ
âOh.â Chris was unsure of what to say.Â
âI know I just unloaded that on you, but I needed to tell someone. And you were the only person who knows whatâs going on.â You sighed.
âWell, umm-â Chris stuttered. You could tell Chris was struggling. âIâll help you figure things out.âÂ
âChris, you donât have to do that. I also wouldnât even know where to start.â You told him.
âY/N, you are going to need help. Let me help you.â Chris said.
You sighed. âAlright, alright. I will accept your help.â
âGood because you were going to get it any way.âÂ
Your niece began to cry. You stuck the phone between your shoulder and your ear and went to pick her up. âShh, itâs ok, itâs ok. Aunt Sissy is here.â You sat down in your chair.Â
âAunt Sissy?â Chris questioned. You forgot he could hear you.
âYes, when my sister and I were little kids she couldnât say my name, so she called me sissy. So, we figured why not be Aunt sissy.â You explained to him.Â
âI like it.â He said. âIâm just plain ole Uncle Chris.â He laughed.Â
âThereâs nothing wrong with that.â You told him.
You and Chris talked for a few more minutes then you ended the call. Your parents came home after a while. You and your niece were both asleep on the couch.Â
The next few days were a blur. You attended the funeral of your sister and finalized documents to become the legal guardian of your niece.
It had been a week. You knew you had to get back to L.A. and back to work. It was Friday morning and you were able to book a flight back to L.A. for the next morning, but this time you had to mark that you were flying with a baby. You were slightly dreading the flight home. Five hours on a plane with a two month old, that was definitely uncharted waters for you.Â
That night, you packed your suitcase and Oliviaâs things. You told your parents to keep everything your sister had bought at there house. You would just have to buy new things after you were back in L.A.Â
That night, you couldnât sleep. Your mind just wouldnât shut down. Every scenario, good and bad, were going through your head. You checked the clock and it was almost 3 a.m. You groaned and just stared at the ceiling. You werenât sure when, but eventually you fell asleep.Â
7 a.m. rolled around much quicker than you wanted it too. You groaned as you turned your alarm off. You got up, got dressed, and finished off both yours and your nieces packing.
You woke Olivia up, fed her, and got her dressed for the flight. Your nerves were still on end wondering how the flight was going to go. Your dad helped bring your things to the car as you loaded everything.
âAre you going to be ok?â Your dad asked.
âI think I will be fine.â You told him. âI have a friend who is already offering to help me.â
He nodded as he closed the back of the car. You both walked inside to get Olivia.
Your parents drove you to the airport. They kissed Olivia goodbye then you.
âCall us, no matter what time, if you need anything.â Your mom said. You nodded and hugged her. You were grateful that your sister had purchased one of the infant carriers that you wear, so your hands were free. It was an odd feeling, walking around with a baby. People looked at you when normally no one would look your way.
You got your boarding pass and headed to your gate. After grabbing a coffee and a muffin, you sat down at your gate. You audibly sighed when you sat down. You looked down at Olivia, she was fast asleep. You ate your muffin and drank your coffee before your boarded your flight.
While you were waiting at the gate, your phone rang. You looked down and it was Chris. You slide over on the screen to answer and put the phone to your ear.
âHello?â You asnwered.
âGood morning Y/N! What are you up too?â Chris asked.
âIâm at the airport waiting on my flight.â You said. âChris isnât it like 6 a.m. in L.A.?â You questioned.
He glanced at his alarm clock. âOh yeah, it is. I just woke up and I thought since we didnât talk much yesterday, Iâd give you a call.â
You smiled. âWhy are you up at 6 on a Saturday? Iâd be sleeping until noon.â You laughed softly.
âI donât even know why myself.â He laughed. âI went to bed pretty early last night, so maybe thatâs why.â
âWell, I was the opposite. I didnât go to sleep until 3 then I woke up at 7 and was at the airport by 9.â
âWow! You made it to the airport in an that amount of time with a baby? Thatâs impressive.â Chris commended you.
âYeah, I guess I did. It wasnât that bad. I got up, got dressed, dressed Olivia and my dad drove us to the airport. Itâs a 45 minute drive from my parents house to the airport.â You told Chris.
âHow is Olivia doing?â He asked. You smiled to yourself. Most people probably wouldnât ask.
âSheâs doing well, I think. I can ask, but I donât know if I would get a response.â You laughed softly as did Chris. âIâm worried about the time change though. For an adult, you just take a nap and all will be fine. I donât know how it affects a baby.â You admitted to Chris.
Over the week, you realized you felt something towards him. You didnât want to admit to yourself what that was, but you would admit it was something.
âI donât really know.â He said with a sigh.
âChris, Iâm worried. I donât know anything about babies. I know they are cute and you have to change their diapers, but thatâs it!â You said to him.
âWell, my sisters have a few kids and I know a little bit about babies. I will be glad to help you out.â Chris assured you.
âThank you.â You smiled. Your conversation continued for another twenty minutes. You talked about work and how you were doing.
Your flight was being announced so you had to say goodbye. âIâll be back in L.A. around lunch.â You told Chris before ending the call.
You grabbed your backpack and stood. It was different now that you had Olivia with you. People were more careful around you, they seemed to take notice of your prescense.
Your parents paid for your flight home and they booked using Delta so your seat was classified as Comfort plus. You had a bit more room than a normal seat, which was nice considering you were traveling with a baby. You got comfortable and removed the carrier, it was kind of a relief.
The flight attendants were super helpful and even offered you some tips after you admitted you had never flown with a baby. Right as the flight began to take off, Olivia began crying.
You started panicking. You knew it was probably the pressure in her ears from the takeoff because you felt it in your own ears. You reached into the diaper bag and grabbed a bottle.
You clicked the button on the bottle to drop the powder into the water. You shook the bottle then held it for Olivia. She immediately calmed down and started eating. You sighed in relief. After her bottle, you burped her and she fell asleep almost instantly.
The rest of the flight was calm. You changed her diaper, fed her again, and she slept. Finally, you landed in L.A.
You made your way into the airport to grab your luggage and Oliviaâs car seat. Once you had everything, you made it to your car. You loaded Oliviaâs car seat then her, then your luggage.
You finally got into your car and took a deep breath. âWe made it Livie.â You grabbed your phone and texted Chris that you had landed and were headed home.
Thirty minutes later, you were pulling into your apartment. You somehow manage to get everything into your apartment in one trip. You took Olivia out of her car seat and she stretched and yawn. âGirly, you must like to sleep.â You laughed as you laid her down the couch cushion beside you.
You checked your phone and saw a message from Chris.
Chris- âGood. If you donât mind, I wanted to stop by later. Only if itâs ok with you.â
You- âOf course! I would really like that.â
Olivia started cooing and gurgling. âWhat are you saying Livie? Are you excited to meet Chris?â You laughed. She continued to gurgle.
Chris- âIâll be there in about an hour.â
You- âAlrighty! See you soon!â
As you were waiting on Chris, you started smelling something, and you knew exactly where it was coming from. You look over at Olivia. She had this grin on her face looking back at you.
âYou are something else.â You laughed and went to grab the diaper bag. You laid the changing mat down on the floor then Olivia. You unbuttoned the onesie and started holding your breath. There was a knock at the door right as you undid the diaper.
You knew it had to be Chris. âCome in!â You called out. The door opened and Chris smiled at you.
âAm I interrupting something?â He laughed.
You shook your head and laughed. âNo, youâre not interrupting.â You finished changing Oliviaâs diaper without any sort of disaster. So, you patted yourself on the back for that.
You picked her up off the floor and disposed of the diaper. You went back to the living room where Chris was standing.
âChris, Iâd like you to meet Olivia.â You said smiling as you held her. âI call her Livie.â Chris smile down at her.
âMay I?â He reached for her.
âOf course!â You gently passed her to Chris.
âHello Olivia!â He cooed at the baby as she giggled.
You smiled at him and sat down. As you watched him hold Olivia, your buried feelings started to surface. You looked at his arms and how much smaller Olivia seemed in them.
She gurgled and cooed as she looked Chris. âShe must like you.â You teased him.
âYou think?â He raised his eyebrow and smiled at you. âSheâs beautiful like her aunt.â
You blushed. âI bet her mom was beautiful too.â Chris said sitting down on the couch.
âShe was.â
He looked at you then down at Olivia who was yawning. âI think someone is sleepy.â He chuckled.
âI bet.â After you said that, you began thinking you didnât have anything you needed for Olivia. No crib, no changing table, no diapers, no nothing. Chris noticed your expression changed in a matter seconds.
âWhatâs wrong?â He asked.
âI donât have anything she needs, Chris. I have a car seat and a diaper bag.â You said putting your face in your hands.
âWell then letâs go. Letâs get Olivia everything she needs.â Chris smiled at you.
âWhat? Now?â You looked up at him.
âYeah. We can go to Target, Walmart. I donât know, we will find somewhere.â
You sighed and nodded. âOk.â
Olivia was asleep in Chrisâs arms. You walked over and grabbed the car seat. You sat it on the coffee table in front of Chris. He gently placed Olivia into the car seat and strapped her in.
You smiled watching him do it. He was gentle with her. The way he smiled at Olivia as he buckled her in made your heart melt.
âAlright, lets go.â He said as he stood up. âYou can just get a few of the essential things. A crib, diapers, wipes, formula, bottles.â He listed them off.
You nodded. You went to grab the handle of the car seat but Chris stopped you. âLet me.â He said.
He grabbed the handle and carried the car seat to your car. He locked the car seat into place then shut the door quietly. You were sitting in the driverâs seat waiting. He leaned down.
âI know youâre tired, so Iâll be driving.â You gave him a soft smile and willingly went around to the passenger side.
Over the next couple of hours, you, Chris and Olivia shopped for the essentials. You decided on a simple, white crib, nothing extravagant at the moment. You picked up several sets of pink sheets for the crib.
As you shopped, people were giving you odd looks. Who wouldnât? Two people with a baby shopping for baby things now, thatâs technically backwards. But, you paid no mind to the people in the stores.
The shopping ended and you three headed back to your apartment. Itâs was around five in the afternoon when you got all the boxes and bags inside.
While shopping, you saw a swing and you knew how much Olivia loved her swing at your parents. You told your self you wouldnât get it right now, but you looked down at Olivia and caved. That was the first thing put together.
Everything was inside the apartment. Chris was setting down the last bag as you held Olivia on the couch.
âChris, I canât thank you enough.â You smiled at him as he walked over and sat beside you. âI donât know how Iâm going to repay you for everything youâve done for me and now Olivia.â
âY/N, you donât have to repay me.â He said looking down at you. âEverything Iâve done, I did because I wanted to.â
A tear slid down your cheek. âNo, no, no! Donât cry.â He said wiping the tear. âIâm sorry. I didnât mean to make you cry.â
âI know you didnât. I donât even know why Iâm crying.â You said with a small laugh. âYou have been so nice to me through out all of this, Iâm also sleep deprived and still pretty emotional.â
Chris smiled at you. Before either of you could say anything, Olivia started to cry. You looked down at her and tried to figure out what she wanted. You checked her diaper and it was clean.
âWant me to make a bottle?â Chris asked standing up to reach for the diaper bag.
You nodded as you held Oliviaâs pacifier in her mouth. She continued to cry. Chris mixed the bottle and warmed it.
âHere you go pretty girl!â He said replacing the pacifier with the bottle. She started sucking down the bottle. You laughed softly at how quickly she was eating.
As she ate, Chris sat down beside you. Your mind couldnât help but wonder to the future. What if this was your future? You, Chris and a another baby. Maybe you did want something with Chris, but just not right at the moment. You need some time to adjust with Olivia. And if you were reading Chris right, he would wait until you were ready.
You glanced over at him. He was looking down at Olivia in your arms. She was almost done with the bottle. Her eyes were wide open and she was looking back at Chris.
âOh yeah, I think she really likes you.â You laughed. âShe canât take her eyes off you. I donât blame her though.â You smiled at him.
Chris blushed. âYou donât?â He raised his eyebrow.
âNot one bit.â You smiled.
Chris chuckled unsure of what to say. You quickly realized how forward you were.
âIâm sorry, that was very out of line.â You apologized.
âNo, donât apologize. Itâs totally ok.â He said. âHow I about I start putting together that crib?â Chris smiled. You nodded as your cheeks burned with embarrassment. Chris stood up and went to work.
Olivia finished her bottle, and your burped her. You heard her burp then felt something warm running down your shoulder. âOh Livie! Why?â You groaned.
Chris turned his head and saw the problem. He walked over and took Olivia. He couldnât help but laugh, just a little. âOlivia, why would you do that?â He wiped her face.
âIâm going to change shirts.â You turned and went to your room to find a clean shirt. When you returned, you found Chris with Olivia pressed to his chest as he swayed. You smiled watching the scene.
âYou know Olivia, I really like your aunt. Sheâs so kind and loving and caring, but you already know that. And sheâs absolutely beautiful.â Chris spoke to your niece.
Your cheeks flushed red as you listened to him go on. You cleared your throat and he quickly turned towards you.
âHow much did you hear?âÂ

It was the night before your wedding day. You always thought you would be nervous and stressed the night before your wedding, but you were the complete opposite. You felt happy and relaxed. You trusted that Jessica had everything done for the big day. You, Scarlett, Rose and Olivia were having a relaxing night at Lisaâs.Â
You asked Scarlett to be your only bridesmaid and Rose to be a flower girl with Olivia. Chris asked Scott to be his best man and his nephew, Miles, to be the ring bearer.Â
You chose to spend the night at Lisaâs and let Chris and Scott have your house. You were just hoping it was in one piece when you got back.
Olivia was nearing two years old, and you couldnât believe it. She talked non-stop, it didnât always make since but that didnât stop her. Olivia had started calling Chris, dada.Â

âY/N, I will give you as much time as you need. And when youâre ready, Iâll be here.â He smiled at you.
You smiled brightly. Finally, in all the darkness youâve felt over the last week, your light was standing in front of you. âYouâre amazing, you know that right?â You asked rhetorically with a laugh.
âIâve been told that, but I donât see it.â He flashed you a grin. âHere, you take Olivia, and Iâll go work on the crib. You just need to tell me where to put it.â
You gently took your sleeping niece from Chris. âRight, I guess it needs to go in my bedroom.â
Chris began dragging the box to your bedroom to assemble the crib. You followed him into the bedroom and flipped the lights on. Your room wasnât huge but it had enough room to add the crib, if you moved some things around.
âMaybe if you move your desk out to the living room and slide your bed over, that will give you plenty of space to put the crib against that wall.â Chris stood by the door with his hands on hips.
âAlright Cap, do as you must.â You said with a laugh. Chris chuckled and looked at you. âYouâre probably going to need my help, so Iâm going to lay her in the car seat and bring it in here.â
Chris nodded as you left the room. You laid Olivia down in the car seat and brought it your room. Chris was moving things off your desk, so it would be easier to move. You put the car seat out of the way.
You and Chris moved the desk out of your room and into the living room. After moving your bed around, Chris started working on the crib. You picked up Olivia, who was now awake, and sat on the bed.
âIâm glad you offered to do that, because I would have had a melt down just looking at the box.â You said with a laugh. Olivia was laying on the bed gurgling. âLivie agrees with me.â
Chris laughed as he turned to look at you. âItâs not too hard. This is not the first time Iâve put together one of these.â He smiled at you.Â
Within an hour, the crib was put together. You put the mattress in and the sheets on. You set up the baby monitor as well. âThank you Chris.â You smiled up at him as he admired his handy work.
âQuit saying that. Itâs getting repetitive.â He said with a laugh.
Before you could get a word out, Olivia started cooing loudly. You both laughed and walked over to her. She was cooing and flailing her arms and legs.
âSomeone is a happy girl!â You said in a high pitch as you tickled her sides. Olivia continued to coo as she looked up at you and Chris.
âYouâre happy because I put your bed together, yeah?â He picked her up as she continued to coo. âOh yeah, I completely understand.â Chris chuckled as he acted to have a conversation with cooing baby.
âWell, while yâall have your very intriguing conversation, Iâm going order some pizza.â You patted Chris on the shoulder then kissed Olivia.
You grabbed your phone and found the number for your favorite pizza place. âHey, what kind of pizza do you like?â You called out to Chris.
âI eat anything. Whatever you want to get is fine with me.â
You ordered a pepperoni pizza and a thing of garlic bread. After ordering the pizza, you began unpackaging everything you bought. Once everything was unboxed, you started reorganizing the cabinets to make room for everything. Chris heard the clanging of the plates, so he came into the kitchen.
âWhat are you doing?â He laughed as he watched you stand on a barstool to move things to a high shelf.
âI had to make room for all the stuff.â You said with a laugh. âBy the way, I ordered pepperoni pizza and garlic bread.â
âPerfect.â He smiled. Chris was still holding Olivia. She was cooing and gurgling.
While you were continuing to reorganize, Chris continued to play with Olivia. You could hear them from the kitchen. Chris was talking to her, and she just giggled and cooed. It filled your stomach with butterflies and you couldnât help but smile.
There was a knock at the door, Chris got up from the floor to answer the door, but you came running out of the kitchen, like a bat out of hell, and beat him to the door. You did not want him to pay for anything else. You grabbed money from your wallet and opened the door. You paid for the pizza then closed the door.
âIâm starving.â You said walking to the kitchen. Chris scooped up Olivia and followed you to the kitchen. You grabbed two plates from the cabinet then grabbed a bottle and formula.
You passed Chris a plate then began to mix Oliviaâs bottle. Once you finished mixing it, you went to reach for Olivia.
âI want to do it.â Chris sounded like a little kid. You laughed and handed him the bottle.
âAlright.â You laughed. You opened the pizza box and grabbed two slices and a bread stick.
You fixed a plate for Chris and placed it in front of him while he fed Olivia. He was sitting on a barstool, so you sat next to him.
You watched as he was able to feed Olivia and feed himself at the same time. âNow that is talent.â You smiled at him.
Chris chuckled. âIâve had practice.â You smiled and continued working on your pizza.
âWell, you will have to show me. Iâm very inexperienced.â
âI will be happy too.â
You blushed a little and finished your pizza. Olivia finished her bottle, and you offered to burp her so Chris could finish eating. He passed her to you.
âNow Livie we are going to have a problem if you spit up on me again.â You told her as you laid her on your shoulder. You patted her back until she burped. You made it away clean this time.
Olivia started to yawn and get fussy. âIâm guessing that means, she is tired.â
Chris nodded in agreement as he finished his pizza. You stood up and carried her to your room. You made sure she had a clean diaper before putting her pajama onesie on her. She began to cry more. You put her pacifier in her mouth, held her against you and began to hum softly.
It took about ten minutes, but after that she was out. You laid her down in the crib and quietly left the room, grabbing the monitor as you did.
Chris was cleaning up the kitchen and putting the pizza away. âI could have done that.â You said walking over to him.
âI know, but you were putting Olivia down.â He said walking over closer to you. You smiled up at him.
âThank-â Chris cut you off with a kiss. You instantly kissed back. Chrisâs hand rested at your waist. He pulled away.
âI told you to stop saying that.â He smirked. âI also wanted you to know whatâs waiting for you.â
You blushed every shade of red. âWere you hoping that would speed up the waiting?â
âNo, not at all. I just really wanted to kiss you.â He said ducking his head. âBut I wonât do it again, if it made you uncomfortable or makes you think Iâm trying to rush you.â He started to ramble.
âChris, Iâm not uncomfortable and I donât think youâre rushing me.â You said placing your hand on his arm.
âOk good.â He smiled at you. âI should probably head out, so you can get ready for bed. Your sleep schedule may turn to shit.â He laughed softly.
âOh Chris, donât jinx me.â You joked. You walked with him to the door. He smiled at you as he opened your apartment door.
âI really like being around you.â Chris said. âAnd Olivia is definitely a plus.â
You smiled up at him. âI really like having you around.â
He leaned down and kissed your cheek. âIâll see you on Monday. Call me if you need anything.â Chris walked out, and you were left on cloud nine.

Warnings: None.......idk.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
A/N: this idea came from my asks and it originally was supposed to be fun and fluffy and then i started writing and it turned into an angst party. The link for the dress wouldnât work so i put a picture of it in the story.Â
Your relationship with Sargent Barnes is anything but friendly, which is why he is Sargent Barnes, only his friends can call him Bucky. You have tried everything you know to just be a friend to him, even though you may have slight crush on the metal armed man.
You didnât want your friendship to be forced, so you just started by smiling and saying good morning. He never returns the smile or good morning. You try several more things, but nothing seems to work.
Your next attempt is making him cookies that Steve told you were his favorite, and that they used to get them from a bakery back in the 40s. Steve tells you the name of the bakery, and it just so happens to be the bakery your grandmother worked at when she was young.
You bake a dozen cookies and arrange them on a plate. You walk down the hall to Sgt. Barnes room, knowing he is inside, since he just finished his workout for the day.Â
You knock on the door and wait. The door is pulled open, and a slight smile crosses Buckyâs face when he sees the plate of cookies. The smile quickly fades when he hears your voice.Â
âHey Sargent Barnes! Umm, I made you some cookies. Steve might have let it slip that these are your favorite, so I called my grandmother and got her recipe. She worked at a bakery in the 40s and 50s.â You explain to him.Â
The look of annoyance on his face only seems to grow as you stand there. âWhy would you bring me cookies after I just finished a workout?â He asks, obviously angered by your gesture.Â
âOh, Iâm sorry. I guess that thought didnât cross my mind. I just thought with your super soldier metabolism one cookie wouldnât do too much damage.â You look down at the plate sadly. âIâll just go then. If you want one, the plate will be in the kitchen.âÂ
You turn and walk back to the kitchen, tears brimming your eyes. You place the plate of cookies on the cabinet just as Sam, Nat, and Steve enter the kitchen after their workouts.Â
âOh yes! Cookies!â Sam cheers. He glances at you as to ask for permission. You nod in response.Â
âWhy so sad?â Steve asks. âIâve never seen someone so sad after baking cookies. Wait! Are those Buckyâs favorite?âÂ
âYeah.â You reply quietly. âAfter you told me what bakery you two would get them from, I called my grandmother for the recipe.âÂ
âY/N, these are amazing!â Sam compliments, bringing a small smile to your face.
Steve reaches over and grabs one. He hums in approval. âAgreed! Takes me back to being a kid in Brooklyn.âÂ
You laugh softly. âWell, now I have to have one!â Natasha grabs one and takes a bite. She closes her eyes as she appreciates the taste of the cookie. âOh wow!âÂ
~~~~~~~~~
Bucky watches as you walk away. He notices the change in your posture. When he opened the door you had a big smile and you stood tall, now your shoulders were hunched and he knew you definitely werenât smiling.Â
He shuts his door and groans out of frustration. Bucky has never hated you in the slightest. He was instantly drawn to you from the moment he saw you, but also in that moment, he decided that he didnât deserve love or friendship from anyone other than Steve and Sam, if that. He also thought your friendship was you pitying him.Â
When he saw the tray of cookies, he really did want one, but then he realized it was you and he had to keep up the act. So, he was rude until you went away.Â
On the inside, Buckyâs heart broke at the sight of you when apologized for offering him a cookie. He knew the plate of cookies wouldnât do an ounce of damage with his metabolism, but he had to keep being a jerk. You didnât really want to be his friend. Well, thatâs at least what he told himself.Â
~~~~~~
The rest of the afternoon is spent with Sam, Steve and Nat. They beg you to bake more cookies and to share the recipe.
âI canât give you the recipe! My grandmother would kill me!â You laugh as you pull another tray of cookies from the oven.
âBut what if youâre gone on a mission, and we really want cookies?â Sam leans against the counter with a pout on his face.
âYou will just have to wait until I get back!â You place the baking sheet on the stove.
All three of them groan. You canât help but laugh more. Once all four of you finish eating cookies, the leftovers are covered by plastic wrap.
After a few more hours of hanging out, everyone goes their separate ways. You head to your room for the night. You pass Buckyâs door and you pause for just a second. You mind races with the thoughts of what you could have done to make him hate you so much. The sound of the door opening has you running the rest of the way to your room.
Bucky walks out of his room and heads to the kitchen. His plan is just to get some water then go back to his room.
After grabbing a bottle of water, he turns to leave and sees the plate of cookies on the counter. Of course they werenât the ones you originally made, but he didnât know the difference.
Bucky looks to see if anyone is around. He quickly undoes the plastic wrap and grabs one.
âIt really wonât do any damage.â He whispers to himself.
He bites into the cookie. He is instantly taken back to being in the 40s. How could they taste exactly the same?Â
Bucky canât help himself, he takes three more cookies and hurries back to his room.
The next morning, you go into the kitchen to make breakfast. You notice that there are more cookies missing. Steve and Natasha are sitting at the table eating.
âDo you guys eat cookies for breakfast?â You ask with a chuckle.
âNo, I havenât had any since last night.â Nat responds.
âSame here.â Steve says.
âHmm, maybe Sam got some.â You shrug and start fixing your breakfast.
While you are making your breakfast, everyone gets an alert to meet in the conference room. You sigh and stop what youâre doing to follow Nat and Steve to the conference room.
You take a seat inside the conference room next to Wanda. Once every has a seat, Tony starts going over the mission that most of the team will be gone on for the next few days.
âIâm sorry, but Y/n and metal man,â He says referring to Bucky. âyour abilities will not be needed for this mission.â Tony states.
You just nod as you continue to listen. It truly isnât a big deal to you, but Bucky isnât too thrilled with Tonyâs statement.
âSo youâre telling me, I have to stay here with her?â He questions while giving you an annoyed look. You lower your gaze to the floor and sink into your chair.
âBarnes, I honestly donât care what you do while we are gone. Just make sure you are reachable in case of an emergency.â Tony says as he places his tablet down.
Tony wraps up the meeting. Bucky is the first to stand up. He storms out of the room. Steve gives you an apologetic look as he walks by.
âDid I do something?â You ask sadly.
âNo, you didnât. He is just a difficult person.â Steve says before going in search of his friend.
You sigh and stand up to go back to the kitchen to finish your breakfast. The team would be getting ready to leave the rest of the day so no one was going to be around other than Bucky.
Before you can leave the conference room, Wanda and Nat stop you.
âY/N, donât give up just yet.â Nat says. âI know you want to, but I say give it one more big try then if he still wonât come around then you can try to move on.â
~~~~~~~~~
Steve leaves the conference room and goes to find his best friend. The last place he expects to find him is in the kitchen with a handful of the cookies you made.
Steve clears his throat to get Buckyâs attention. Bucky looks like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar, which technically is exactly whatâs happening
âYou know youâre kind of a jerk, right?â Steve asks rhetorically.
Bucky puts the cookies back on the tray and finishes eating the one in his mouth.
âShe has done absolutely nothing but try and be nice to you! Hell, if I were her, I would have given up a long time ago.â
Bucky looks down at the ground. âI donât understand why she wants to be my friend. I mean sheâs just trying to pity me!â
âWow! I guess youâve kept all the stupid with you.â Steve rolls his eyes. âSheâs not pitying you! She truly wants to be your friend. Thatâs just who Y/N is. She sees past every flaw a person has, she is kind, she is loyal to a fault, and she can make some really good cookies.â Steve goes on.
At that moment, Bucky feels like the biggest douche on the planet.
âAnd Iâve been the biggest jerk to her since I got here.â Bucky looks at Steve, who silently agrees with him.
âTry and do better while the rest of us are gone.â Steve pats Bucky on the shoulder before he walks away to pack for the mission.
Bucky goes back to his room to think. He knows he has to apologize.
~~~~~~~~~
You get into the kitchen and finish your breakfast. After you eat, you do your laundry, go for a quick workout then decide to relax for the rest of the day.
The team leaves around 10 at night, so after theyâve left, you head to your room for the night. While youâre in bed, you start thinking of one final attempt to show Bucky you truly want to be a part of his life.Â
The next day you make sure to avoid Bucky at all cost so you can execute your final act. You even ask F.R.I.D.A.Y where he is to make sure you donât see him. You spent almost the entire night trying to come up with a plan. Finally, at 2:30 a.m. you decided on a plan. You are going to make him his favorite meal and wear a dress that resembles that of one from the 40s. You tried to learn some slang from the time period but it was much to confusing for you.Â
After eating breakfast, you leave the compound to go into the city. You stop by a small clothing boutique then you swing by the grocery store. Once you finish you head back to the compound.Â
You get back to the compound and head straight to the kitchen.Â
âF.R.I.D.A.Y., where is Sargent Barnes?â You ask the AI as you chop vegetables.
âHe left the compound about an hour ago, Ms. Y/L/N.â She informs you.Â
âOh, did he say where he was going?â You ask.Â
âNo, he did not. Would you like me to run a trace on him?â The AI asks.Â
âNo, thank you.âÂ
You continue on in the kitchen until everything is done or in the oven. You glance down at your watch and see that it is almost 6 oâclock. You are hoping Bucky will be back soon. You head to your room to clean up and wait for Bucky.Â
You quickly shower, throw on your new dress, put on a little make-up and fix your hair.Â
You slide on a pair of sandals and head back to the kitchen to get everything out of the oven. You set the table while everything is cooling off. Once everything is cool enough to handle, you place all the food on the table.
You look down at your watch and it is a quarter to seven,Â
âSurely he will be back soon.â You think to your self as you sit down at the table.Â
You wait and wait. You stare at the platters on the table, filled with untouched food. The last time you check your watch it is 9 oâclock. You sigh and lay your head down on the table. Tears start to build up and drip down on to the table. Your emotions are running wild and eventually just drain you. You feel yourself falling asleep, but you donât bother making a move to get up.Â
Itâs a quarter to a eleven when Bucky steps off the elevator into the common room. His super sense of smell picks up the lingering scent of his favorite meal. Bucky walks around the room until the dining table comes into view. He sees the table filled with food that has long gone cold and a chocolate cake on a decorative cake stand that reminds him of the cake his mother would make.Â
The next thing he spots is your slumped figure against the table. He takes in your appearance, the pink linen dress, pearl earrings, a small amount of make that has been ruined by tears.Â
His mind is running a thousand miles a minute. You did this all for him, and he had to go and mess it all up. He left the compound to meet with his therapist and think about what he could do to make it up to you. And now he knows whatever plan he came up with will never make up for this.Â
He gently scoops you up from your chair and starts carrying you to your room.Â
âBucky?â You whisper.Â
âYeah, doll, itâs me.â He confirms.Â
In your half asleep state, you begin to cry again. âIâm sorry Sargent Barnes, for whatever Iâve done. I just wanted to be your friend and- and-â You sob into his neck.Â
He makes it to your room and walks inside. He pulls back the covers of your neatly made bed and lays you down. Once Bucky lays you down, you go back to sleep. Bucky takes your shoes off, takes out the pearl studs, and wipes your smeared make-up off.Â
âIâm so sorry, Y/N. Iâll never be able to make it up to you.â He leans down and kisses your forehead before leaving the room. Â
He sends Steve a message once he gets back to the common room. âI messed up big time.âÂ

{Part 4}
Monday morning arrived, and you were up groaning at the sound of your alarm that surprisingly didnât wake the baby. You made some breakfast and packed the diaper bag before Olivia woke up. You didnât have enough time to find a babysitter, so Olivia joined you at work, you cleared it with everyone first.
Olivia woke up just as you finished getting dressed. With your job, leggings, dry-fit shirts, and tennis shoes were your go-to. You got the crying baby from the crib and calmed her down. You changed her diaper and fed her.
After getting her dressed, you both headed for the car. You pulled into set parking and got out. You grabbed the diaper bag and the car seat. Olivia had fallen asleep on the drive over.Â
You walked in the door and into the stage area where all the padding and mats were set up for practicing stunt and fight scenes. You saw Erin and some of the stunt performers. You walked over with a small smile. âMorning!â
They smiled and said good morning. You set the car seat down as Olivia started to wake up.
âWhy do you have a baby?â One of the stunt performers asked. Erin shot him a look.
âThis is my niece. If you have a problem you can take it up with my sister.â You said. âOh wait, sheâs dead.â You snapped at the guy.
You werenât in a bad mood so to say, but definitely werenât in the best of moods. Olivia had cried until 3 oâclock in the morning and you had been clueless on what to do. So you just held her until she decided she had done enough crying and fell asleep. Which meant you only slept for a few hours and it wasnât even a deep sleep.
You sat and talked with the other coordinators and some of the performers until the cast started to arrive. Scarlett and Chris were the first to arrive. You were sitting in a chair holding Olivia while she had her second bottle of the day. Scarlett got closer and realized it was you.
She gasped. âY/N, who is this cutie?â She asked looking down at the baby.
You jumped slightly not noticing her. âOh gosh! You scared me!â You laughed as you looked up at her. âThis is Olivia.â
âYou never mentioned you had a baby.â Scarlett says.
âUmm, well, because two weeks ago I didnât have a baby.â You laughed softly. âShe is my niece.â You went on to explain the entire situation. Scarlett, of course, gave you her sympathies.
Chris came up behind you and started making faces down at Olivia. She quit taking the bottle and started cooing. You tilted your head back and met Chrisâs blue eyes. He was laughing and smiling.Â
He reached down and took Olivia from you. She started to gurgle and coo loudly. âHello to you too, Olivia.â
Scarlett laughed. âI take it theyâve met?â
âYeah.â You nodded. âHe met me after I got back from Atlanta, and he helped out with some things.âÂ
âHe did?â She raised her eyebrow. âWhat did he help with?â
You laughed softly. âWell, he went baby shopping with me, and he put together Oliviaâs crib.â Scarlett nodded and laughed.
âWell itâs good to know heâs good for something.â Scarlett teased.
Chris ignored her as he finished feeding Olivia. âOlivia seems to like him, so.âÂ
âI can see.â Scarlett said. She walked over to Chris and stole Olivia from him. Chris spouted and walked over to you.
âAnd how is the second most beautiful girl?â Chris bent down to your level.
âSecond?â You raised your eyebrow.
âYeah, Livie is the obviously the first.â He laughed.
You smiled at him. âIâm fine, just tired.â
âDid you not sleep last night?â
âI tried.â You let out a breath. âBut Olivia wouldnât sleep. I tried to put her down at 6:30 and she didnât go to sleep until three this morning.â
âWell, if she doesnât sleep tonight, call me and Iâll come hang out with you.â Chris smirked.
âChris, Iâm not calling you in the middle of the night to come hang out just because Olivia wonât sleep.â You laughed.
âWhy not?â He smirked. You smiled at him and shook your head.Â
âChris Evans, you are something else.â You thought.
Soon everyone had arrived and the day began. It was a big adjustment having Oliva on set. She did not want to lay in her car seat at all. Every time you tried to lay her down, she would cry. So, you ended up having to hold Olivia and try to show the performers and actors what you wanted them to do.
âHold on. I donât like that.â You stopped Scarlett and one of the stunt performers. Olivia was asleep on your shoulder. âScarlett, I want you to try this.â
You tried to explain it without having to show her, but it just didnât work. Chris came up behind you and took Olivia. You nodded a thank you to him then continued to explain what you wanted from Scarlett.
12:30 rolled around and that meant lunch. You had spent most of the morning working with Scarlett on her different scenes. You found Chris in a darker spot of the building.
âChris, what are you doing?â You asked.
âShhh. Sheâs asleep.â He walked over, and Olivia was asleep against his shoulder with her pacifier in her mouth.
You shook your head at him. âWell itâs 12:30, you should go eat. Iâll take her.â You reached for her.
âIâm not really hungry.â He stated as he looked down at Olivia.Â
âChris, we are working a lot with you after lunch. You need to go eat. And Olivia needs her bottle.â You said to Chris.
âI just fed her.â He smiled at you. âYou were with Scarlett and you looked like you were in the grove, so I did it.â
You couldnât help but laugh a little. âWell, thank you. My list of debts to you continues grow. Now, please give me my baby and go eat.â
âAnd what about you? Whoâs going to make sure you eat?â He raised his eyebrow as he passed Olivia over to you.
âI have a protein bar.â You told him.
âThatâs not lunch.â Chris stated. âCome with me to get lunch.â
âChris, I wish I could, but we have a meeting with the director.â
Chris sighed and nodded. âAlright.â He started to walk away, but came back.Â
âWhat?â You raised your eyebrow. Without a word, Chris gently kissed your cheek then headed for the door.
You couldnât stop smiling as you walked to your bag. You didnât want to tell Chris no, but you had a meeting with the stunt crew and the director.Â
Thankfully, Olivia slept through the entire meeting. After that, you changed her diaper and waited for the cast to return. It was just you, Olivia and a few other people, but they were on the opposite side of the room.
Olivia was awake and laying on a blanket on one of the pads. You were sitting beside her. She cooed as she held onto a rubber toy.
Chris walked in the door and immediately spotted you. He walked over with a bag from a cafe in his hand.
He handed you the bag without saying anything then began to play with Olivia.
âChris, what is this?â You asked opening the bag.
He shrugged not even looking at you. You huffed and rolled your eyes. Inside the bag was a grilled chicken Caesar salad.
âChris, you didnât have to do thisâ You laughed. Chris smiled down at Olivia.Â
âThat is better than a lame protein bar.â He said. âAnd, if I remember from the first time we worked together, you probably didnât even eat your protein bar.â He gave you a stern look as he picked up Olivia.Â
Chris wasnât wrong. In the beginning of your career, you had a knack for forgetting to eat lunch, and you hated to admit, but it was something you were still prone to doing.
You looked down in shame, letting Chris know he was right. You went to grab your protein bar then one of your co-workers called you name, and then Olivia woke up after the meeting. After looking at the food in the bag, your stomach was growling.
âThank you.â You said glancing at Chris. He just smiled and nodded. You ate the salad before the rest of the cast arrived.
The last half of the day went well. Olivia decided she would lay in her car seat and play with her toys. You kept the car seat close by, so you could keep an eye on her.
Finally, the day ended and you were strapping Olivia into the car seat to take her to the car.
âHey Y/N!â Scarlett called out. You turned around to face her. âHere is short list of some the people Iâve used to watch my kids and my number is on there. So if you need something, let me know.â
You smiled at her. âThank you Scarlett. This means a lot. Yâall have been the best to me through all this and I canât thank you enough.â
âNo need to thank me.â She smiled. âYouâve worked hard in the last few weeks, so this is my way of repaying you.â Scarlett chuckled.
After talking to Scarlett, you grabbed the diaper bag and picked up Olivia in her car seat. âAlright Livie, lets go home.âÂ
You walked out into the parking lot and unlocked your car. You put Olivia in and shut the door. It was just after 6 oâclock, so your plan was to pick something up on the way home.
You were opening your car door when you heard your name being called. You knew it was Chris and you couldnât help but smile. He jogged over with a smile. âI just wanted to tell you that you did an awesome job today with having to balance Olivia and such an active job.â
You blushed and smiled. âThank you Chris. Hopefully next week I will have found a sitter.â
âOh come on now, you know everyone enjoyed having her around.â He chuckled.
âYou might have enjoyed her, but not everyone did.â You sighed.
âYou know getting a sitter will be pointless. Because in three weeks we start filming and youâll be traveling for that.â He said.
You werenât sure what Chrisâs angle was, but he had a point.
âI know, but even if it is just for three weeks, it will be easier on everyone. I will definitely think about it though.â
He nodded. âHave a good night, and Iâll see you in the morning.â Chris leaned over and kissed your cheek for the second time that day.
You smiled at him. âYou too, Chris.â
He walked off, and you got into your car. You picked up Chinese for dinner then you drove home. You got inside and took Olivia out of her car seat. You let her lay on the floor on a blanket, so she could stretch out and play, and you could eat.Â
You ate pretty quickly then attempted to put Olivia to bed. It took some time, but you got her to sleep, that you were thankful for.
You showered and laid around in the living room for a while. You were concentrating on flipping between channels when you heard your phone buzz against the coffee table.
Chris- âHey, Iâm sorry about what I said earlier. I donât know what I was trying to accomplish with that. I just like having Olivia around. She brightens up the whole place. Iâve just been thinking that I was kind of a jerk.â
You- âItâs ok. I didnât think you are a jerk.â
Chris- âOk good. I donât want to mess things up between us and I thought maybe I had.â
You- âI think it would take more than a silly comment to mess things up. I know you meant well.â
Chris- âOk. I feel better now. Is Olivia asleep?â
You- âYeah, sheâs been down for about thirty minutes. Iâm not far behind her.â
Chris- âGood, Iâm glad sheâs asleep. Iâll see you in the morning. Good night:)â
You- âGood nightâ
You quietly went into your room and got in bed. You fell asleep with a smile on your face, thinking of Chris

âSteve is still staring at us. I bet heâll get mad getting to know I will fuck you into the next week and hire you as my cook.â
Bucky stuffs another Hors dâĹuvre into your mouth, a big grin plastered all over his handsome face. âI will make him regret he ever let you slip through his fingers.â
Your hand curls around Buckyâs wrist and you look up at him in awe. Steve never did something like that. A simple gesture, a smile, or feeding you with food was not in his repertoire. All he did was coming to your room and âŚwellâŚstrip his clothes off.
âYou know, playing with food is the best foreplay, Mr. Barnes. Food turns me on.â
The smirk on his lips grows and his free hand, the one you never dared to ask about wanders to your waist to bring you close to his chest.
