Yuna has only ever been mad at you twice.

The first time was when you two were in high school when she felt like you were replacing her with some other girl you had more classes with. With all her anger, she burst into tears at your door after attempting to ignore you for 3 weeks. Yuna cried even harder when you apologized for not noticing her being MIA. Since then, you promised to see her in person at least once a week and never to let anyone else be your best friend but her.

The second was when she caught you at the movies with the guy you had promised to block.

As you and Yuna enter Nam Joon’s living room, her feet come to a halt when she and Taehyung make eye contact. His body stiffens and hers weakens.

As you watch the two, Jungkook stands along the side and looks at you. Yuna, as she turns away, catches this.

Amid her anger, she can't deny how much she loves how he looks at you. She wonders if you even know how lucky you are... As you turn to her, you miss the moment. Jungkook looks away and carries on, pretending like he isn't staring at the love of his life.

Irritated at your density, Yuna tugs you by the arm and she pulls you aside. When you two are out of sight, she pinches you. It’s only for a split second, but it feels like she gave it her all. Honestly, you can’t blame her. This may have been a low blow..

“You lied to me,” Yuna states furiously. “I can’t fucking believe you right now.”

“Yuna, I’m just trying to help—”

She snaps. “Are you fucking kidding me, ___?”

With shifty eyes, you plead; “p-please, Yuna... Jungkook and I just wanted you two to—”

“What fucking right do you have to tell me what to do with my relationship with Taehyung when you and Jungkook have been—goddamn it—” Yuna pauses, tiptoeing around her words. This was so unfair. When it comes to you, she’s always continuous… She thought you were the same as her. With her remaining patience, she shifts the direction of her intentions. She sighs heavily before continuing.

“Yah, ___… This is fucked up. This is sooo fucking annoying of you ___. Ahh, fuck.” Yuna throws her hands to her face, taking a long and deep breath in. Feelings of guilt kick in the same time your curiosity grows. Was their fight that bad? What was it even about? They were perfectly fine.

They were perfect.

As you think about the possibilities, Yuna’s anger fires up again. She grits her teeth as continues to express her frustration. “I could hate you for this. Ohh, I might really hate you for this.”

“Please don’t,” you beg with a sad smile. “Please don’t hate your best friend…”

Offering a pout, you wrap yourself around her arm and repeat an apology. Yuna almost gives in. You rarely act cute around her so she knows you clearly feel guilty.

Rightfully so, she thinks to herself.

Since Yuna is such an amazing and loving best friend, she does her best to rationalize your actions. In the end, she knows your awful attempt at parent trapping her and Taehyung was just your way of showing your support.. No one wants to see their best friends fighting! No one wants to see their friends going through heartache… Besides, it wasn’t all you. It was also Jungkook.

Speaking of the devil…

“I get that this is all confusing for you,” Yuna gives in with a stressful tone, “but I wish you had thought of my feelings and put them before your curiosity.”

Your heart drops.

“I’m so sorry,” you apologize with a heavy heart. “I just… I didn’t know your fight was that bad? I thought it was just a little spat or something. You and Taehyung never fight so I just thought a little conversation would fix—“

Yuna shakes her head profusely, unable to hold her tongue.

It slips.

“___, you’re such a hypocrite.”

You blink at her, completely defenseless.

“I know.”

Yuna then shuts her eyes, trying to center herself. She doesn’t want to come off too angry… Honestly, she wasn’t. It’s just complicated. It’s just hard right now and seeing Taehyung did not ease her heart or worries. It increased them.

Here you are, standing in front of her with the same loneliness in your eyes. You’ve had it for a while. You’ve had it since your fight with Jungkook at the restaurant. Yuna isn’t too sure what went down, but maybe… If she had tried harder… Maybe you would’ve let her in.

Then, she gets it.

You did this because you wanted to be there for her.

Suddenly, she feels guilty.

Then, Yuna’s lips curve into a weary smile. Suddenly, she remembers the way Jungkook had glanced at you earlier. She figures this was an opportunity for you too. This wasn’t just about her. It was about you too.

She musters whatever courage she has left and sighs. Oh, how she wishes there was a drink in her hands right now.

“You know what? It is what it is,” she yields. “I’m already here. I’ll talk to him.”

Wide-eyed, you shake your head at her. “W-what? No! Talk to him when you want to talk to him… Not when I basically parent trapped—”

Gasping, she playfully hits you. “Hey! I was thinking the same thing!”

“Oh my god, really?” you giggle, returning the same energy with the playful hits. “We literally have one brain cell!”

She nods and laughs with you. Finally, you two feel less intense. You’re grateful.

“Seriously, ___… I’m going to do it. I’m going to talk to Taehyung.”

You smile, feeling proud of your best friend. “O-okay… Again, you don’t have to! We can just go back to my place and—”

Yuna interrupts you. “I’ll go talk to Taehyung… Meanwhile, you have to talk to Jungkook.”

“W-what? This isn’t about me,” you reason. “You’re more important than—”

Yuna laughs at your bluff.

In response, your shoulders drop. You hate yourself so much right now. You hate how you put her in this position. She’s clearly upset at you and probably feels like she’s stuck in a corner. Yuna would never do this to you—why did you do this to her?

You two always joined the group for Nam Joon’s big study sessions. They aren’t rare, but they’re extremely fun and efficient. Instead of isolating from each other, you and your friends can help one another study and take healthy breaks. For the most part, everyone works hard and benefits from this giant study sesh. They happened before mid-terms and finals and as finals crept in, Nam Joon got to work by organizing everyone to come over.

This was the first time you and Yuna felt like not being here.

“She’s going to talk to Taehyung—”

“No,” you mumble to yourself. Moving forward, you slip yourself between him and the door. He lowers his gaze at you, feeling a little choked up. “I didn’t ask for a break... Yet, here we are.”

“You asked what to do, ___. All I did was give you an answer.”

You blink at him. “But I don’t like the answer.”

“I don’t like you.”

The laundry room itself was pretty spacious. The reality is that he’s an arm's length away, yet his heart has never felt so far away from you. To make matters worse; there’s enough space for Jungkook to hate you—there’s space.

To break the silence, you try to think fast.
