“It’s our last night on Earth,” Crowley says, voice wrung together in chapped, rusted parts. “Six thousand years of this. Of never– of not getting to– *eurgh!”* Uncaring of the styling, Crowley runs frantic hands through his hair, mussing it up in tight, torturous fists. “Six thousand years. And it’s a bloody *photograph* that does us in.”
His eyes are golden, molten in the warm, ambient light. The pulse at his long, taut neck is fluttering like a trapped bird, the skin there thin, delicate. “Hm,” Aziraphale says distractedly, without thinking too much of it. “I’d always thought it would’ve been what we’d got up to at Job’s.”
Crowley zeroes in on Aziraphale, at that point. All of this has been musings to himself, of attacks towards nobody in particular. Perhaps God. Most likely God. But now he’s not looking at God, and he’s looking at Aziraphale instead. It sets Aziraphale on edge, prickles the angelic sense at the back of his neck. It quickens his pulse, settles the heat of his body decidedly southward. But more than that, perhaps most of all; it makes Aziraphale be as reminded of Crowley’s human body as he is of his own, at this exact moment.
The demon takes a step forward. Aziraphale, a stuttered step back. His fingers are curled into the top of his opposite sleeve, tips brushing the edge of the polaroid he’d nearly grabbed.
“Calm down, Crowley,” he says waveringly.
“Calm *down?*” Crowley repeats quietly, dangerously. He’s looking Aziraphale in the eye, now. He’s looking nowhere else.
Another step. Forward, back. Aziraphale licks his lips.
“It’s all going to be alright, my dear boy,” he tries. He clears his throat, shifts his fingers further into his sleeve. “You see–”
He’s cut off. Quick as a flash, Crowley’s gripping him around the shoulders, shoves him back so his arse is pressed to the lip of the vanity, the lit-up mirror alighting him from behind. Aziraphale’s arms draw up around the demon’s shoulders in surprise. There’s nowhere else to go, no more steps to take. The look in Crowley’s eye speaks of a hunger all-too-familiar to Aziraphale. Reminiscent of meat, of basements, of languishing drunkenly at the end of another man’s Earth. Behind Crowley’s head, Aziraphale has the photograph clenched in one hand.
“Crowley,” Aziraphale whispers.
“Don’t–” Crowley’s expression is fierce, desperate. “Don’t say *anything–*”
Aziraphale opens his mouth to say something else.
*“Angel.”* Crowley makes a desperate sort of sound, and then their lips are pressed together, and Aziraphale freezes altogether.

the way that in the book literally every single person that meets Aziraphale and Crowley assumes immediately they are together in both a romantic and sexual way. Even the delivery man sees them for half a second and goes “ah, the couple sharing the wine, perfect”
Let's get cozy, friend.

Crowley is cool.
The Wait-And-See stage has started again thank Go... Sat... someone, and we know Neil is not going to give us any spoiler. But we forget that he's already told us the most important thing of all, over and over. He has told us that everything is going to be ok. And we know he's a Demon and he lies but, like our favourite (former) Demon he might lie but he keeps his word. He has told us everything is going to be ok and he has told that he chose 3 of songs in the ineffable playlist, one of which, he has told us, is The Book Of Love (I've got goosebumps just by writing that song title here). He told us long ago that he imagines Aziraphale and Crowley retired in a cottage in the South Downs. He's told us that he'll get us where we need to be, so don't worry, just enjoy the ride. The ride will be a roller coaster, the ride will make you laugh and will make you cry, the ride will have incredible highs and unbearable lows, the ride might break you. But it will get you there, and when you finally get there you'll be made whole again and the new whole you will be more than the sum of the broken parts. Like a gentle parent telling their child to not worry, it can be scary but it's worth it. Like a friend encouraging us to savour every moment without worrying of what lies ahead. Because what lies ahead will be ok. We just have to enjoy the ride that gets us there.
I've been thinking about Aziraphale's sleep patterns or the lack of it
From what I gathered, it's a fanon consensus that Aziraphale straight up just doesn't sleep and I agree. The bed in the flat over the bookshop has never seen even a wink of Aziraphale unless he entered the room to deposit more books there
HOWEVER
I like to think he snoozes in the armchair in the bookshop. Like, he's reading, and he leans back a bit. He's so relaxed that he lets his head fall back and his eyes close, just to rest.
He doesn't sleep, no. He is still alert and paying attention to his surroundings but he is on that state between awake and asleep that's low-key kinda uncomfortable but that's the closest he ever came to be voluntarily unconcious so he doesn't know better and somehow kinda likes it
Crowley has never caught him like that cause as soon as the bell jingles over the door, Aziraphale springs back to motion
The first time he witnesses it is in the cottage. Crowley gets spooked and thinks Aziraphale passed out, running to him all alarmed, but even before he gets near, Aziraphale opens his eyes and looks up at him.
"Everything alright, dear?"
"You-! You were-! Ngk!" He takes a step closer, leaning over the angel. "Since when do you sleep?! I've never seen you sleep! Not in 6000 years!"
"Oh I wasn't asleep. I was just resting my eyes." He smiles, closing the book that was resting on his chest. "It's relaxing. I used to do it all the time back in the bookshop." Crowley deflates, sitting on the sofa near the armchair. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah. 'M fine. Just...thought you passed out or something." He runs a hand through his hair before looking back at the angel. "How have I never seen you like this?"
"You've never lived with me before." Crowley rolls his eyes and playfully slaps Aziraphale's arm, the angel chuckles in return. "I would open my eyes as soon as I heard the Bentley outside or felt your presence before you entered the bookshop."
"Myeah, makes sense. Just could have given me a heads up."
"I'm sorry, dear boy. I'll make you a list of all my peculiarities just so you're not caught by surprise next time."
"You're ridiculous."
