I think more people would enjoy the Fast and the Furious franchise if they looked at it as a fantasy world set in the modern era instead of a traditional set of car films. (yeah, it started out just a normal car movie, but then it rapidly amped up the impossibility factor) The “family” are an adventuring party and they all have different roles within the crew. There’s a hacker, a weapons expert, a mastermind, a Hero, a leader, a smartass. All sorts of specialized positions that require training and skill to perform well. You can even see them advancing/leveling throughout the series as they take on wilder and wilder quests.

Because it’s a fantasy world, the rules work a little differently and things that wouldn’t work in our world do there. It’s how they’re able to evade the police while dragging a fucking bank vault behind them, destroying everything in their path. Or how Dom is able to jump off his car to catch Letty as they slam into the windshield of a car and then walk the fuck away. That’s the only way any of this makes sense, since almost none of they shit they do in the films is even possible. 

Yay! I’ve got so many prompts! First up, have you seen that TikTok trend where a kid gets in trouble for sitting in The Boss’ chair, but then they realize that the kid is The Boss’. That, but with Owen! He’d get so cocky and believe himself to be untouchable because of his mother, but then Mama Shaw arrives and puts him in his place.

But it is really funny to imagine Owen getting way too cocky and Mama Shaw having to put him in his place!

Owen smirked harder as he popped a hard candy into his mouth and sucked hard on it. He leaned back in the large, plush chair he was sitting in and looked across the large, mahogany desk

Standing in front of him was one of the largest crime bosses in London. Normally, the man would be towering over people and striking fear into their hearts

But in front of Owen, the man's head was bowed and his hands were shaking as he balled them up

Owen wasn't going to lie and say he wasn't tempted to make the man kneel before him. But he wouldn't take it that far. Not yet, at least

"Tell me, Brindly, how's business?"

"It's fine, Mr. Shaw." The man forced out from behind clenched teeth. The response only made Owen smirk harder

"Really?" Owen hummed in thought, rolling the candy in his mouth. Nonchalantly, he lifted his legs and propped them up on the desk. "I've heard from a few sources that you've been struggling to pay back what you owe me."

Well, owes his mother specifically. Everyone knew in the UK, if you wanted to do any serious business in the criminal world, you needed to pay a fee to Queenie Shaw

Owen kindly took it upon himself to collect a few of those fees personally

"Not at all." The man hissed. "I don't know what those liars are telling you, but me and my boys are doing just fine."

Owen raised an unimpressed eyebrow at the simmering anger just below the man's skin. It was just too much fun to mess with these stuck up, older criminals. They always had a certain pride that bruised far too easily. Far too tempting for Owen

"Then, I hope that you let me know if these rumors ever become reality." Owen smiled warmly, but his eyes sent a silent warning

The man nodded stiffly before turning on his heel and storming out. Owen didn't hide his snort of amusement at all as he watched the small temper tantrum

"Kim, who's next?" Owen called out, looking over to one of his mother's goons. The woman was always around in London to keep track of the family business when his mother was out of town

"I believe there's someone of a very high status that would like to see you." A dry voice called out instead of Kim's high pitched one

Owen jerked around in the chair and let his feet hit the ground. Standing in the doorway was his mother's right hand man: Jeffrey. Who didn't look one bit amused by the situation

"Give them my deepest apologies then." Owen said smoothly. "I'm quite busy."

"Don't you dare give me that kind of lip, you little whelp."

Owen flinched slightly as he heard his mother's voice

Jeffrey stepped further into the room, allowing Queenie Shaw to step into the room. She looked extremely unamused

"Get the bloody hell out of my chair, Oh." The snapped

"Of course, mother."

I literally cannot stop thinking of this scene in Hobbs and Shaw because this shows that Luke has obviously studied the Shaws a lot!! 

He uses the exact same way he tracked Owen down in FF6 to track Hattie down! 

He’s literally comparing her intelligence up against Owen’s and is complimenting her!

And when Deckard comes barreling in later saying “That’s my sister!” that’s when all the pieces fall into place and Luke finally understands why Hattie used the same tactics as Owen. They’re brother and sister!

Mama Shaw comparing Lukard’s compatibility to Rattie and Rowen, Owen defending his boyfriend’s honor with “he’s funny”, Letty being the only one in the crew who’s acceptable, the crew being absolutely hopeless, Mama Shaw nagging about her kids needing more training, Deckard being the only one of his siblings who’s still sharp, Owen whining, Owen and Hattie protecting their lovable yet vulnerable partners, THE REALIZATION THAT THE SHAW SIBS HAVE GONE SOFT BECAUSE OF THE TORETTO CREW AND THEIR PARTNERS!!!

Hello again Omni! And happy Friday! I got an idea: what if Mama Shaw tagged along on a Nobody mission? Imagine: her critiquing everything her kids do, complaining about the team, and judging her children's partners.

Narrowing her eyes, Queenie Shaw watched from above as Toretto's crew worked to take down the small army of goons that were trying to keep them from their chosen target

The man was an international hacker who had fled the country when he stole top secret information

Mixed in the crowd, she could see her three children all fighting

Owen looked far too gleeful as he kept goons away from his little boyfriend, Pearce. Owen fought off the men and women with abandon as Pearce tried to throw a punch or two at the people who rarely got through Owen's guard

Meanwhile, Hattie was off in the corner, protecting Ramsey as she had a hacking battle with their target. She seemed full immersed in her computer battle while Hattie never once left her side

But it was Deckard and Luke at the center of the fighting that caught Queenie's eye

The two men worked off each other spectacularly

Back to back, they protected each other and traded weapons when needed. It was almost as if they were reading each other's minds as they went through enemy after enemy

Queenie was immensely proud of her children, but they would need improvements. They had all seemed to become a bit sloppy when fighting

She would need to have have train properly with a master she chose

Viewing the crew they were fighting alongside of, Queenie could see why they were getting sloppy

None or Toretto's crew knew how to fight. Even though Ortiz had obvious training, it was a mix of different arts. Maybe she could convince the younger woman to join her children's training

But the rest of the crew was hopeless in Queenie's eyes

Why her children even stuck with the crew was beyond her comprehension

Shaking her head, Queenie left them to their fight. She needed a strong cuppa

"Mum, we don't need more training!" Owen whined

They were back at Nowhere, sitting across their mother in a room she had commandeered. None of Nobody's agents had gone against the Shaw matriarch

"With what I saw today, you need it." She said firmly

Deckard sighed

He thought they were past their mother managing them

"We're fine mum." He tried to convince her

"You are still on top of your game, Dex, but your siblings need a refresher. And you know they won't learn if you're not there."

"Oi!" Hattie hissed. "My fighting skills are perfectly fine!"

"Trust me, you need more." Queenie sniffed and then pointed her cup at both Owen and Hattie. "And we need to discuss your partners."

"What?" Owen's voice dropped dangerously

"Don't you start." Queenie warned. "Hatts, your Ramsey is a smart tart, but she needs to learn how to protect herself while hacking. You can do it, so can she. And Oh. Why are you with that bloke? Hes more bark than bite!"

"He's funny." Owen mumbled, not wanting to admit anything about Roman's fighting style

"Jokes aren't going to save his hide in a fight. You should be with someone who can have you back, like Hobbs has Dex's."

Deckard glanced over at Owen and could visibly see his little brother's anger boiling over

Sighing once again, Deckard stood to make more tea

They would need it

Sam: Obviously.

I highly recommend inviting your friends to do randomly romantic & weird fun stuff. Invite them to a picnic at the park and show up with a kite. Throw tea parties with tiny finger sandwiches. Have a Crafts Day where everyone gets to decorate their own hats/accessories/teacups for future tea parties. Encourage shenanigans & surprises! Host a Costume Movie Night but put a different theme on each invitation (formal wear, pajamas, last year's halloween costume)! Drink sparkling juice out of champagne glasses during a Board Game Night where the winners have to speak in a character accent for the rest of the evening. Infinite possibilities, but it's your job to manifest them!

If you want a fun weird friend group, first you must encourage fun weirdness!!! Cultivate the garden you want to live in.
