BKDK CODEPENDENCY- a little thing I wrote in my notes app bus they’re taking over my brain

Postwar bakudeku who are heavily co-dependant on each other but still in that awkward stage of their friendship where they are not quite comfortable enough to be touching so they look for the smallest excuses to be near. They partner up because “they’re the strongest and they push each other the most.” But they can only get so far into their second year of school without the class noticing how they’re ALWAYS around each other. “Hey where midoriya?” “ I dont know but I saw bakugou heading to the lounge room” and it just makes sense. And OH MY GOD there’s no escaping the way bakugou talks to him. It literally gives everyone whiplash. He’s so soft and gentle. Like yeah he throws in the occasional insult and Izuku might bite back but the way he significantly lowers his voice because he knows that even after all they’ve been through and how much they’ve both changed izuku is still that same little kid craving for a hint of his kindness. And it’s the way that midoriya will lure him out of a loud room with the ease of a siren. And everyone teases bakugou for it saying stuff about how he follows midoriya everywhere and he’ll deny it but he genuinely can’t not follow him. his body craves to be near him like he’s a drug. When they do finally get together they PHYSICALLY CANT BE PULLED APART. It’s not in a sucking on each others faces in the middle of a hallway like typical high school kids; Katsuki is not only deeply afraid but also heavily despises PDA. So they’ll just hold pinkies in public and izuku will sneak a kiss when no ones looking. Katsuki is very much an acts of service man so that means breakfast in bed when izus sick, laundry is usually all done since he will just do their clothes together. They practically live in each others rooms now. There’s just no putting in words how co-dependent they are. They CRUMBLE when they’re without each other, on some nana and ren shit, panic attacks from both parties when they have to go on overseas mission without each other especially from izuku. The trauma of what happened with bakugo because he wasn’t there when he needed him to be haunts Izuku well into his pro hero years. It’s not just each other physically they need each other though, as bakugou gets older (18-23) and his hearing gets worse the panic attacks become more frequent, he can’t call into the next room over and hear his boyfriend and that HAUNTS HIM until he and mei figure out a way for him to get cohealer implants that he won’t have to replace every mission.

I keep seeing the phrase "when the news finally reached Texas" in reference to Juneteenth. Let's be super clear. White people in Texas knew slavery was over. They just chose not to tell the Black people. Juneteenth was when the Black people finally found out. History is so whitewashed that we accept the euphemisms as gospel. It didn't take 2 1/2 years for the messenger to bring the news. The rest of the Union didn't forget to tell Texas. White Texans just got away with keeping their slavery way of life for 2 extra years and nobody said shit. Hell yes, #Juneteenth should be a federal fucking holiday, but ALSO we should be teaching #CriticalRaceTheory in our schools so we don't get watered down versions of history.

btw liking and being fascinated by a fictional villian is never the same as liking a horrible, real life person that actually hurt real life people. just wanna throw that out there, and tbh y’all love to pick and choose which villians/bad guys are acceptable to like and enjoy as characters.

“Will can move on and find someone else” do people not understand that this is a TV show? Of course if this were real life, there would be opportunity for Will to move on and be happy without dating Mike. But Will is a character. And the story has been set up in such a way that for Will, in the canon timeline of the show, it’s Mike or no-one. It’s Mike or rushed, under-developed, last minute/epilogue love interest. Will is in love with Mike specifically for a reason, and that was a storyline built up over years. He is not getting a fulfilling romance with some never-seen-before guy in a the jam-packed finale season of the show. It’s Byler or they made a calculated decision to have the only gay main character, who is shown to be more painfully in love than any other person on that show, suffer gut-wrenching heartbreak and for what? When every other character has gotten a multi-season reciprocal romance plot.

Season 5 is the last chance they’ve got to offer him satisfying payoff for all that he’s been through, and of all characters, Will is the absolute last one who needs a “sometimes things don’t turn out the way you wanted but you'll be okay” message to conclude his story because he’s never gotten what he wants. His existence on this show has been traumatic event after traumatic event. They’ve set Mike up as the one thing Will loves and wants more than anything, and denying him that after all that he’s been through is unnecessarily cruel storytelling. (Obviously this is not at all to say that Mike is some sort of prize for Will, Byler perfectly intertwines with and completes Mike's individual character arc too, which is why it should and will (fingers crossed) happen).

Some guy called Will didn’t just randomly fall in love with his best friend and "oh it’s completely fine if Mike rejects him because there’s someone out there who’ll be right for him"—writers put him in this situation! Writers actively chose to double down on his “unrequited” feelings in the penultimate season! Writers put him through hell, physically and emotionally, and specifically relating to his sexuality. Then they slowly but surely revealed that he is pining for this one thing, this person that brings him strength and inspiration and hope, and people think him being told no that kind of happiness is not for you sorry kid, but hey at least your loved ones don't hate you for being gay, who could’ve predicted that? If you're lucky we’ll even let you smile at random cute guy in the epilogue! is acceptable let alone good storytelling? Will deserves better than a “there’s vague happiness in his future” ending, and we should absolutely expect better.
