WHATS A REFRESH REBOOT SHOWER? ;
a refresh reboot shower are the kind of showers that u take that act like a reset button. i personally love them especially when i feel like i have so much energy pent up and i can channel it into doing something positive for myself.
ROMANTICIZE ;
something important to remember while taking a refresh reboot shower is to be PRESENT. thats what makes these showers different. instead of doing ur normal shower routine, or ur everything shower routine, this is the REFRESH REBOOT shower routine.
take time to feel the water on your skin. make sure its to the exact temperature that you like. smell the products that ur putting on ur body and bask in how yummy they smell. feel the soapy foam beneath ur fingers, wash every inch of urself HAVE FUN.
GUA SHA IN THE SHOWER ;
sculpt that beautiful face. gua sha is good for so many reasons. its good to reduce puffiness and swelling and its amazing for ur lymph nodes. do a full gua sha routine and watch how amazing u feel.
EXFOLIATION ;
exfoliation feels like (at least for me) like im shedding an old skin and revealing a new one so its a MUST for a refresh and reboot shower. so before the shower do some dry brushing for the softest skin then go in with a body scrub.
i rly recommend the tree hut scrubs or you can make your own with this simple body scrub recipe. so first off decide if ur doing a salt or a sugar scrub and i'll briefly explain the difference here.
sugar scrub ; deposits minerals into the skin, gentle exfoliation, hydrates the skin, helps draw water into the skin, less abrasive, smoothens and brightens the skin.
salt scrub ; eliminates toxins, gives a rosy glow, anti aging abilities, provides minerals vitamins and nutrients, tones and restores the skin.
to make a sugar scrub simply (1/2 cup of coconut oil + 1/2 cup of granulated sugar + 15-20 drops of essential oil of choice)...💬🎀
hot tip ; if u want to make it more scented you can even use a couple drops of a body wash along with the essential oil
to make a salt scrub simply (1 cup of sea salt + 1/4 cup of a carrier oil + 10-20 drops of essential oil of choice)...💬🎀
CHANGE UP THE SCENT ;
if u have a signature scent that you do a lot of the time, try and go for a different scent. im a hygiene junkie so i like to have a variety of different soaps to use, even though i almost always stick with the basics (smelling like a yummy cupcake) unless i want something different. changing up the scent can be refreshing so if you feel like it'll be refreshing for you, try and go for a different scent for a couple of days.
DOUBLE CLEANSE ;
if double cleansing isnt something that u do on a day to day basis then its perfect to do in ur refresh and reboot shower. wash ur body first with a bar soap (preferably something unscented or organic)
doctor bronners soaps work good too if u dont have a bar soap that u like. after using the bar soap go in with a liquid soap (ofc following the scent guide in the previous section) that way you can feel even more squeaky clean and refreshed.
𝜗𝜚 ࣪˖ ִ𐙚 1) when someone compliments them, they say thank you.
WOAH mind-boggling right! they don't self depreciate themselves by going "no no im so ugly" or whatever, but they don't say something like "yeah i know." either. show your gratitude, but don't let it get to your brain.

they make sure to show themselves just as much love as they show everyone else because they know they deserve it just as much as anyone else.

when they say something, they do it. when they want something, they work to get it. when you feel sad and hurt, you yourself should be the first person to come and support yourself.

confident people know that they don't shouldn't have to make themselves invisible for anyone. it may be scary at first to be walking around looking straight instead of hunched over, but just btw u look rly lame being hunched over. stand up girl.

because they know they are allowed to. they know they deserve it. why would they try to become smaller? for who are you doing that for? literally no one cares and it just looks pathetic. take up space honey, you're allowed to.

when i look in the mirror, no matter how i look- whether im sweating and crusty musty dusty or even all glammed up- i always love myself. why? because i know that i am not what i look like. i know i am beautiful, but that is not the only admirable thing about me!

or basically, step outside your comfort zone. do things that the previous you wouldn't even think of doing, and do it proudly, and do it alone! (me for example, recently i did the most scariest thing ever that i was dreading the entire day and when i did oh my god i was so proud of myself!! esp since i did it alone as well!)

Hello Everyone! So I have been getting some very useful beauty grooming tips from other dolly girls that I follow on tumblr and it inspired me to make my own post series with a similar premise but more budget, mentally ill & neurodivergent friendly, or as a future reference 4 people who might not have the means to do these things at the moment. With that out the way onto the post! ♡
Basic Hygiene
First things first if your the person who can't take daily showers, or you have hormonal issues that make you stink even when you do take daily showers, then the shower routine that you have & the type of products you use are very important as it can be the difference between you smelling bad the same day or day after, versus you smelling good for 2-3 days without you having 2 do much. 4 the mentally ill I highly recommend that you ease yourself into this routine very slowly so that it doesn't feel draining
First soap wash, this can be with any soap but preferably a unsented hormonal friendly one, a natural/prebiotic soap bar, or unscented baby soap, you ideally want this first step done with a soap bar. The first places you want to wash before anything else are your neck, the outside of your crotch area (not the inside), your armpits, and your butt (don't go in the butthole) then your going to rinse all of that off and do it again, then with your choice of scented soap wash your legs, arms, & body. The goal is to hit all of the critical smell points that stink the most twice so that the smell of the scented soap stays.
The next step is to use any form of exfoliation that you have 2 get rid of some of your dead skin, a sugar scrub, exfoliation gloves or African sponge is recommended, you can also dry brush your body before your shower as these are all forms of gentle exfoliation to get rid of some build-up, after this you rinse all the dead skin off, if you don't have time or energy 4 this then remember 2 exfoliate your feet, ankles, neck, elbows, & knees as these are the most noticeable places 4 dead skin, and only exfoliate 2 to 3 times a week or it can cause skin dryness.
This next step is more optional but I do recommend it as it makes the shower last much longer; body hair removal, instead of getting a razor & using that 2 shave I recommend a hair removal cream (I love to use the magic hair removal brand, yes the one 4 beards, it has a lot of pre-made cream options & powder options that you can turn into paste that you can use especially if you have kinky/coily hair & it has ingredients that prevent ingrown hairs, bumps & keeps the hair off with time, the last time I used the powder (which is a bit messy, thus the pre-made cream recommendation) for my legs & armpit hair & that shave lasted for nearly 2 months) if your not doing a full body shave then target your crotch & armpits as those sweat the most.
This next step is also optional but if you don't want to lotion yourself when you get out the shower you can use a whipped body cream that you rinse off in the shower.
Now onto hair washing! This step is an important one, now what your gonna do first is wet your hair a bit & use a pre-poo for your hair to detangle it, (and a hot oil treatment before you wash it out in the shower a few times a week if you want hair growth) if you have dandruff or scalp psoriasis use this step to gently scrape off the flakes from your scalp. After your done detailing with the pre-poo your going to wash it out & start using your shampoo as you normally would, I highly recommend getting those scalp massagers people use while washing their hair, especially if you have dandruff or psoriasis, just make sure not to scrape of scab your scalp to rough. After you thoroughly rinse the shampoo off your gonna use your conditioner, let it sit for 3-15 minutes if you can & thoroughly rinse it out, or you can hop out of the shower & use a leave-in conditioner. If you can get a hair perfume to make your hair smell good or just use a good smelling conditioner.
Next step if you chose not to use the whipped body butter in the shower is to use the body moisturizer that you have, if you live in a hotter area or feel lotion, oil, or Shea butter is too sticky 4 you I recommend moisturizing body milk, do this from the neck down to your feet. After this you wanna use witch hazel on our armpits & outside crotch area (it helps with hormonal smells, hormonal balance, & sweat) then use your perfume of choice in the following areas; your neck, your ankles, behind your ears, your elbows, your knees, & your wrist . Then use a matching or complimenting body mist all over your body from the neck down. An optional but nice smelling touch would be to add both solid & spray perfume to this routine
After your done with your shower, brush your teeth and tongue & swish your mouth with mouthwash to make your breath smell fresh, then with a neutral oil to help whiten your teeth.
Now we can move on to the face, keep the routine 4 this short & sweet, think like 2 to 5 steps for the whole routine, for example; wet your face with lukewarm water, wash your face with whatever face wash you have, rinse the soap off your face with lukewarm water, then rinse your face with cold water to close up your pores faster, after that spray a facial toner on your face, then use the gua sha method to work in your face moisturizer all throughout your face, A lot of people recommend you wash your face once a day (specifically at night) but other people wash their face twice a day, do what is best 4 you & your schedule. After this exfoliate your lips with a sugar scrub. A warm damp rag or your toothbrush. then moisturize your lips, you can use a chapstick, lip mask, Vaseline, whatever works best 4 you.

self care is so important both for our mental and physical well being. its one of the girliest hobbies and for good reason too, when i practice self care i pretend like im caring for a doll (except im not rly pretending bcuz i am a doll). pouring into myself is my PASSION especially in luxurious ways...💬🎀
ATMOSPHERE ;
atmosphere is the most effective way to get that luxury spa like feel. light some candles that smell nice, warm ur towels and bathrobe before using it and make sure that u have all ur spa day supplies on hand so that u dont have to walk back and forth. some important items to have during ur luxury self care day are ->
🧁 cucumber slices (for ur eyes of course)
🧁 a warm cup of tea or a refreshing cup of infused water (whatever ur in the mood for) bonus points if u drink it in a wine glass
🧁 warmed towels and bath robes
🧁 a facial steamer
🧁 luxurious bath tray (with ur drink, candles, products, etc)
🧁 bubble bath
also, play some soft jazz or calming music in the background, i love bossanova so thats what i listen to. also try to avoid harsh lightings and opt for a softer light instead. we wanna feel RELAXED, like we're in an exclusive spa.
SKINCARE RITUALS ;
double cleanse ur skin and make sure to really take your time, feel free to massage ur skin too. make sure that ur letting ur cleanser sit on ur skin for a couple of seconds to really reap all the benefits you can. use a facial mask, i rly love making my at-home rice face mask. i also enjoy the aztec clay mask and sheet masks that have ingredients like aloe and rice.
BUBBLE BATH ;
soak in a warm bath with fluffy bubbles and ur hair in a pretty girly shower cap. i love to have the lights dimmed while im in the bath and a juicy book on my bath tray. if i dont have a physical book on hand which i prefer bcuz on luxurious self care days i like to go screen-less, i'll read one of my spicy web comics and just soak in the bath.
when finding a good bubble bath for your luxurious self care day i want u to do your research! i love my bubble baths fragrant and i love them to make LOTS of bubbles so some of my recommendations are the doctor teals bubble baths, i also really enjoy the creme shop boba bears one cuz its so cute and the lush bubble bars (they feel like a treat every time)
now when you get out of the bath it is SO important to have a nice hot towel and bathrobe to slip into. it just feels like a warm hug UGH it elevates the experience by like a million percent, its an absolute necessity don't you dare skip this.
FOR YOUR HAIR ;
while doing a luxurious spa day i recommend doing treatment on your hair like a deep conditioner or a hair mask. also massage ur scalp. ever since i've been on red note i learned that we have five meridians on our scalp and by massaging them we can stimulate growth and relieve stress so thats def something you guys should get into. bonus: use a hot towel wrap or a heated cap to let the mask soak in
FOR YOUR BODY ;
exfoliating always makes me feel like im shedding an old skin and stepping into a new one so it's a must have step. after exfoliating, moisturize with a thick, luxe body cream or body oil. go for something with shea butter, cocoa, or almond oil so you feel buttery soft. then spray a light body mist or your fave perfume, even if you’re just staying in/going to bed. smell is part of the fantasy
MASSAGE ;
this part is sooo underrated but like, once you add massage into your routine, you’ll never skip it again. it just feels like a princess reset. i always say a good massage makes me feel like melted caramel. you can do it yourself or u can make ur bestie do it for u, it’s giving luxury either way.
🍨 first, grab your fave body oil or lotion. i love using something that smells like vanilla, roses, or coconut milk, bonus points if it's a little sparkly. warm it up in your hands (cold lotion is illegal on spa day) and start by massaging your neck + shoulders. move in slow circles and don’t rush.
🍨 take your time on your arms, hands, and even your scalp...we carry so much tension there. i literally feel the stress leaving my body when i do this.i also use a gua sha or jade roller on my face + neck.
🍨 extras i’m obsessed with: — heated neck wraps — those cute lil wooden roller tools
put on your soft music, breathe deep, and just melt. your room isnt not a bedroom anymore. it’s a private suite in a 5-star spa in paris.
