Let female people shave/wear makeup/be feminine is the most online shit. Go outside. While you’re there, count how many female people are and aren’t doing that shit. While you’re there count how many people are even remotely mean to you for those acts. While you’re there take note of how much money is spent on ‘beautifying’ bullshit. ‘Let males be masculine’ is also nonsense, but ‘let males be masculine’ usually means, ‘men should be allowed to harass women without any social consequences.’ It’s significantly worse, but it’s a sentiment that deserves unbridled disgust while the female take just needs to actually exist in the world outside of their bubble for a hot minute.

It’s a confusing term decision. Unlike ‘female/male’ or even ‘person with a vagina/person with a penis’, ‘birthing person’ describes an action in the present tense. Think about if I said, “running person”, that would mean the person, at this moment is running.

TERFs act like trans women shouldn't get offended when they call them men "because they are men" and then lose their shit when you call them birthing persons

"We're all born naked the rest is just drag." Doesn't it get tiring? Performing every day of your life for other people, waiting for their applause or boos in judgement, needing to know if you have correctly performed the part of (gender). At least drag people are getting paid for that shit, you're doing it for free. Fuck, you have to pay for it. Backstage is so limited and isolating when the world is a stage.

Female people should be more ‘shallow’ tbh.

Males are allowed ‘shallowness’ all the time, you ask a male about his preferences and they’re rarely like, ‘I care about people’s hearts and souls UwU.’ No! He’ll say the most shallow shit imaginable! And no one will rush out to hate on them or find some way to ‘correct’ them for saying they like a woman with a fat ass. Female people are socialized and pressured out of admitting any hint of what they’re actually attracted to, female people are denied enthusiastic desire and lust and just. Let yourself be shallow and choosy and picky. Males don’t worry about being considered shallow when they call females over 160 ‘whales’. This isn’t even a call to be as cruel as they are about taste, just hoping to help some people move past their shame and guilt.

‘This is just like if there was pushback against not being attracted to <insert any other kind of person>’

Yeah I actually find those, ‘if you find yourself not attracted to <group> check yourself’ posts gross too actually. I’m a believer in radical consent: You’re allowed to say no at any time, to any person, for any reason and no one should ever be shamed for denying someone access to their body. Sorry if that upsets people but I’m not sorry for holding to that belief.

I saw a vid of this girl talking about her complicated feelings about Botox that essentially boiled down to: 1. We don’t live in a vacuum, ageism is a thing, looking good means I get treated better and I should take advantage of that, but, 2. Me getting Botox reinforces beauty standards on other women, and even young girls.

And I just get so frustrated because this “nuance” was very well received, and it really feels like sooo many women are constantly choosing between “this is a way for ME to feel good/gain an advantage” and “this is what’s best for women as a collective” and the collective often loses. :/ I feel like a broken record but I really really want women to stop prioritizing “advantages” that ultimately hurt our gender as a class. There’s no way out with this framework.
