Colleen Neff was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and has lived all over the country courtesy of having a father who worked for I.B.M. She discovered a love of photography and art history at Beloit College in Wisconsin. Starting out with a pinhole camera she constructed herself, Colleen now uses a Leica D-Lux 5 as it fits perfectly into her small backpack. She currently lives in Berkeley, California, and photographs life as she walks and hikes in the Bay Area.

Welcome readers!
A special welcome to travelers on the Magic Realism Blog Hop!
I’m the author of The Charm Buyers (University of Hawai’i Press 2017), a novel of love and magic, loss and renewal, set in Tahiti. I spent my early childhood in Tahiti and have returned several times since. Tahiti and the South Pacific is the home of my extended family and the final resting place of my mother and father.
In the islands, many cultures and realities coexist. What is magic to some, is reality for others. Magical realism becomes realistic magic.
