On April 16th 2025 the US federal government has proposed to change the interpretation of the endangered species act so that it no longer protects habitat.

This is open for public comment until the end of May 19th. Please comment and make your voice heard.

Wildlife need their habitat. If the ESA redefines harm so that habitat is no longer protected, the implications for wildlife would be catastrophic.

I absolutely think there's an underlying angst to Zeb and Kallus' relationship at its core. Kallus experienced something traumatic that made him view all Lasat as violent monsters. Which is obviously a messed up viewpoint and one he's doing his best to consciously challenge... But there's definitely moments in the beginning where the subconscious fear gets the better of him. Waking up from a ptsd nightmare to a Lasat reaching for him is not something he handles with much grace or sensitivity and it's definitely a thing that complicates their relationship.

It's worse for Zeb, 'cause while Kallus is left with guilt and shame, Zeb has to deal with burning anger and resentment during similar episodes. When he has a flashback Kallus is just about the last person he wants to see the face of, and unlike Kallus he can't just reprimand himself for misplaced emotions 'cause Kallus carries more blame than Zeb likes to think of. It definitely takes him a long time to reconcile the Kallus he knows - loves - with the Kallus who made his world - his family - crumble to pieces, even if part of his people survived.

It's a lot - to Kallus, Zeb is worth it. He can't quite wrap his head around how, but somehow Zeb thinks he's worth it too - they're worth it.

ok i just have to say it since no one else is: i'm defending the muttonchops. They were era appropriate, people in the 70s weren't as afraid of body hair as people are today! This was even a thing for Rogue One I believe. I think the director asked the actors to grow 70s style facial hair so they blended in with A New Hope. Kallus was big! He was hairy! Like, sorry but Kallus was 70s hot, chops and all. (tho side note: i do actually think he was supposed to have a beard in season 4 and the only reason he didn't was because his character model already changed too much) but that aside, his facial hair made sense for where/when he was. He was absolutely en vogue. People were going to him for advice on how to be fashionable or trying to imitate his look. between his chops and luke's chanel boots, it was queer eye for the rebellious guy. they were running yavin 4 fashion week like the goddamn navy. stop being a coward and put some respect. on the chops.
