made a brief amendment
Author's note: My story will be named "Lady of the Noldor", also Rings of Power was a huge inspiration (especially the Galadriel-Sauron temptation dynamic, I'm not copying that but I think it's interesting), I'll be adapting Rings of Power events into my story
Hear me out, guys! I've got an idea for a Silm elf, but I'm really fleshing it out. This is a story where my OC eventually ends up with Glorfindel, but there's a very long journey before she gets there.
Her name is Noldoriel (Q. Lady of the Noldor, forgive me if I'm wrong here), and she's a Noldor elf (duh). She is known for her wisdom, earning her the title Noldoriel the Wise. She resides in Eregion with her father Lalmion (S. Laughter's son), who's a close friend and advisor of Celebrimbor. Erestor (yes, the future Chief Counsellor of Rivendell) also lives there with his father Almarion (S. Son of blessedness). Lalmion and Almarion are close friends, together they form a close-knit circle of Celebrimbor's advisors.
Noldoriel is a harpist, and she has an extensive understanding of elven lore. In particular, she respects Glorfindel a lot, has worked on a few murals of him throughout Eregion (this is before he's reborn). She admires his valour and courage.
Her close friend is Mirdania (a Rings of Power OC, but I love her).
One day, Annatar (Lord of Gifts, oh how I wish to beat up this mf) comes to Eregion. Noldoriel is suspicious of him, but Annatar is smart enough to know that it would be better to have her as an ally instead of his enemy. He charms her with Maia magic. For a while, she actually falls under his spell.
He lures her in with false promises of romantic love, and it was originally meant to be a charade but over time he actually falls for her. Noldoriel can subtly sense that something is wrong, but she is trying to fight the subconscious.
Part I of my story will be about Noldoriel fighting the temptation of Annatar. The Siege of Eregion happens in this one, and I think the closing scene of Part I would likely be a final confrontation between Noldoriel and Annatar (like Sauron and Galadriel's fight).
Part II of my story is where Glorfindel comes in. I personally headcanon (before Rings of Power came out) that the Lindon elves would have an army to save Eregion, and Glorfindel (reborn) would be one of its commanders. As Glorfindel and the other commanders (including Elrond and Gil-galad) lead the survivors of the siege out of Eregion to the valley that would one day become Rivendell, they walk by a plunge pool (which is where a waterfall will meet the stream that feeds the Glanduin river). Glorfindel spots Noldoriel washed up on the banks (she had chosen to jump down the waterfall from the top of the cliff to escape Annatar/Sauron, and I kinda want it to be a symbolism where she finally rids herself of his influence, and not to copy the scenes from Rings of Power).
He saves her, they go to the valley. Noldoriel and Glorfindel eventually fall in love, they get married after the War of the Last Alliance.
Part II of the story is about Glorfindel and Noldoriel.
Thanks for listening to my rambling! If you have any feedback or ideas you'd like to see me use in my story, please comment! Any lore inaccuracies, comment as well!
Face claim for Noldoriel: this amazing actress over here, Grace Victoria Cox (except with longer hair of course, and grey eyes)
in honor of thanksgiving, please reblog with a character(s) you’d rather feast on instead of a traditional turkey dinner
Twisted satisfaction. The slightest smirk that everything around him is crumbling, all according to plan.
From S2 Ep 6.
Finding myself staring at the many gifs of Annatar/Sauron following episode six, and I just found myself falling in love with his profile? Because why not.
It's a really good profile.
10/10 no notes.
Could someone draw this for us pleeeeeease?

No words. Just no words. Sauron tried to gaslight Celebrimbor, but Celebrimbor gagged him so hard.
The voyage west at the end of Return of the King is extremely funny to me, because just look at who's on board. You've got:
Frodo Baggins, hero of the Shire, in need of healing but also excited to see Valinor and meet the legendary elves who live there, a gentle soul
Elrond Halfelven, as kind as a summer, looking forward to peace west of the sea, probably wants to go chill out in a cottage with his wife for the next thousand years
Which seems fine. And then we get to everyone else.
Gandalf, cheeky bastard who's gotten so used to being a weird old wizard in Middle-Earth that's he's forgotten what Maia are supposed to act like, will immediately cause problems
Bilbo Baggins, noted storyteller, definitely planning to break into Aule's halls to see his dwarf friends, will ask all the elves weird questions and then sing about their lives and deaths in front of them, will immediately cause problems
Galadriel, who came to Aman half for Celebrian and Elrond's sake and half to taunt all her cousins about being the only one of them to survive the First Age, enjoys causing problems, will immediately cause many problems
(Also, to be clear, these are not three isolated problem-causers, they absolutely spent the entire trip to Valinor actively planning to give Amanyar society and the Valar an aneurysm.)
I just love the idea of Elrond, now reunited with Celebrian, and Frodo happily having tea with Elwing and Earendil, with nothing to interrupt them but the gentle sounds of the tides.
Meanwhile Galariel, Bilbo, and Gandalf are collectively bullying Mandos into releasing Maglor Feanorian from the halls because:
Bilbo wants to read him his translation of the Noldolante, which is written as a cheery Hobbit drinking song
Elrond always complained about how Gandalf and Maglor were both insufferably vague about advice and Gandalf needs to make sure he's more infuriating than Maglor as a matter of his wizardly pride
He still owes Galadriel money
Author's note: My OC, Itarille, is the younger sister of Elrond and Elros. Gil-galad has just asked to court her recently. Takes place way before the events of Rings of Power. Can be read as a reader insert, and either as a standalone or part of my upcoming Tolkien fic series. From @sotwk "Comfort Fic Writing Challenge".
-------
It was a nice day, Itarille thought to herself. She was sitting on the windowsill in her chambers, overlooking the sea. Her ears picked up the faint sound of the ocean waves crashing against the shores. Her grey eyes, so like those of her older brothers, drifted back down to the book in her lap.
Adûnaic, the language was called. From the land of Númenor, Elros' kingdom. She was reading a book about the island kingdom's history with the sea.
“From the dawn of Númenor, our fate has been intertwined with the sea. It guides, it judges, it endures. The sea is always right.”
It was a longstanding belief of the people. Itarille glanced out of the window once more, her eyes fixed on the blue waves of the ocean. It seemed calm, serene, steadfast. Just like how Númenor should be. How the Eldar should be. How she should be, considering that she would soon marry the High King and become Queen of Lindon.
She flipped the page, deciding to move on from the poetic passage. On the next page, there was a portrait. A man, regal, with high cheekbones, gazed back at her with eyes so familiar. His raven hair was mixed with streaks of white, and age was so visibly shown on his face.
Elros Tar-Minyatur, the description below the portrait read. Founding King of Númenor. Itarille hadn't gazed upon a painting or portrait of her brother in so long. It had been too long since his passing, but for her, it felt like yesterday.
The day Itarille had received word of Elros' passing, it was as if the floor had collapsed from beneath her feet. When she'd heard it, Itarille was at dinner with the High King. The news was delivered to him by a messenger, then him to her. When the last word had left his lips, Itarille stood up abruptly and fled. She remembered the look in Gil-galad's blue eyes. Those blue eyes, blue like the sea.
She and Elrond grieved. He did his best not to show it, maintaining the stern facade of the High King's Herald, but Itarille was different. She had locked herself away in her chambers, sitting on this very windowsill, gazing out at the sea which Elros had sailed away on the day he decided to be counted amongst Men.
She had known that day would come, but it didn't hurt any less.
A knock on the door brought Itarille out of her reverie. Wiping the tears from her face hastily, Itarille spoke softly, "Come in."
The door opened gently, and in stepped Gil-galad. As usual, he was the picture of elegance and serenity, clothed in robes of a deep blue, a departure from his usual gold. His gold crown of leaves was nowhere to be seen, and his deep brown hair tumbled down his back in waves.
"My lady," Gil-galad spoke in that velvety voice of his, bringing Itarille's hand to his lips and pressing a kiss to her fingers, "how I've longed to see you so. This day has been dreadful without your presence at my side."
Itarille didn't respond, her mind still whirling with the memories from Elros, the memories that reading that book had stirred up. Gil-galad noticed her silence, the lingering tears in her grey eyes. He was about to ask if everything was alright, when he saw the Adûnaic book on her lap and he understood.
"You were thinking about him, weren't you?" Gil-galad asked quietly. Itarille gave no verbal answer, only the nod of her head. After a moment of silence, Itarille finally spoke. "O-oh, Ereinion," she sniffled, a fresh wave of tears falling down her face. "I miss Elros."
"My love." Gil-galad pulled her close, pressing a kiss to her forehead. For a moment, they both said nothing, Itarille's sobs speaking for her. She pressed her face into the crook of his neck, her tears staining the fabric of his robes.
"Why does it hurt so much?" She looked up at him, her eyes glimmering with tears.
"You loved Elros deeply. He was your brother, and like Elrond, your protector. Your closest confidante. It's natural to feel this way about him." Gil-galad exhaled. "It's alright to grieve, melda."
"But," he looked down at Itarille, wiping a tear from her cheek, "Elros wouldn't want you to cry for him. He loved you deeply and would wish for you to be happy. He'd want you to live a happy and long life. So, please, do not weep, my love. Live, for Elros, for Elrond. For me."
Outside, the flowers bloomed. The birds chirped. In the distance, the waves lapped against the shores. Somewhere up there, Itarille sensed that Elros was watching. The grief was still fresh, it would always be, but for now, in this moment, Itarille felt at peace. Gil-galad's arms tightened around her, the High King murmuring words of reassurance and love in Quenya, the language she adored.
Everything would be alright.

whatever ties james to you feels ancient, like folklore—woven into the fabric of who he is. like the golden threads in that scarf, it pulls him toward you: effortless, timeless.
pairing: james potter x reader
series summary: james potter spent years chasing after lily evans, convinced she was the one for him but in fifth year that all changed when he met you. for two years, it was easy, perfect, even. then the summer before seventh year you ended things with him, insisting he belonged with lily instead. he didn't understand (or agree) with your decision then and he's not sure he does now. perhaps being lovelorn and bereft without you compelled him to follow your suggestion and he began dating lily. everything should've fallen into place like you said, it should feel right but it doesn't.
as snow falls over hogwarts and the holidays draw everyone closer, james can't shake the feeling that something is pulling him back to you and he's not sure he wants it to stop.
main tags: female pronouns, alternate universe, marauders era, pov switch between characters, gryffindor reader, friendly reader, casual invisible string connection, exes reader and james, established jily, sirius and reader friendship, lily deserves better, no bashing whatsoever, emotional infidelity, insecurities, angst, fluff, mutual yearning/longing, falling into old habits, obliviousness, miscommunication, off-screen mutual breakup (jily), getting back together (reader and james), time skip, implied marriage, domesticity, happy ending
notes: happy holidays!! here is my self-indulgent 2024 12 days of ficmas series 🧣 inspired by taylor's song invisible string. this series is a collection of vignettes set during the winter of their final (seventh) year. every part is centered on a winter-ish word prompt and connected to each other in the same universe. please read the tags. i tried to keep the reader a clean slate as much as i could but there are implications that they're a gryffindor, friendly, well-liked, and that they knit. if you don't like that, don't read it.

(Disclaimer: I know canonically instead of sleeping elves have those long nightly meditations, but I personally prefer that fan-made version where they can do without sleep/food etc. for way longer then mortals, but this would drain their strength and eventually they'd have to rest either way, so it's better for them to actually have at least some sleep every night)
Elrond
The fandom has collectively decided him to be an early bird, which makes sense considering how much work he has all the time. He would totally be awake at 5-6 a.m., he gets straight out of bed immediately into busy mode. A side-effect of that, considering him being a peredhel - he gets drowsy pretty early in the evening, and if by 11 p.m. he isn't in bed his brain would just stop braining a.k.a. ping goes over 99999 (Gil-Galad find this hilarious). He might pull an all-nighter if duty really demands, but he needs some excessive rest afterwards. He has some nightwear in his wardrobes somewhere, however more often that not he would just kick his day-clothes off and climb in bed as is. Also he sleeps like a cat: gets all his limbs tangled in blankets, kicks in his sleep and drools on pillows.
Gil-Galad
The High King loves comfort and luxury in everything, including his sleep. He has a Huge bed with tons of pillows of different sizes and levels of softness, which he arranges around himself so that not a single muscle would be sore in the morning. He falls asleep immediately and takes some time to wake, allowing himself to wallow for a little while. He has several very well-made and expensive night gowns of finest silk and he manages to sleep so still that they never wrinkle. He also absolutely doesn't snore. Ever.
Galadriel
Considering her boiling nature and how much she has traveled, lady Galadriel is the one who could sleep anywhere and in any conditions. When life gets frantic she would catch as much naps as she can: 15 minutes seated on a windowsill before a meeting, half-an-hour in a tree while others are busy with her bidding, an undefined short break on an ottoman in High King's waiting room while he's somewhere doing something - not to mention how she can fall asleep in any levels of noise around her, but to wake at the slightest wrong sound. Sleepwear is for softies, when it comes to Galadriel, just as sore muscles.
Arondir
As much as he gets used to sleep in barracks or on the road, sometimes he just longs for a soft mattress. Doesn't need to be royal-quality, just a bed that's simple but nice. He gets something sore in the morning no matter what position he takes before falling asleep. Arondir tries his best to hold on to a sleeping pattern, especially when he isn't stationed in the Southlands anymore (it's a bit easier when you're a part of a group of soldiers who all follow same rules as a unit), but he has to fight the fact that he's completely and utterly a night owl, resulting in perpetual feeling of not sleeping his full. Secretly he'd be over the moon of someone gifted him a stuffed toy to hold at night.
Celebrimbor
The smith only has two modes of existence: when he is in the middle of a project he could not sleep at all for several days or nap for a little while just to keep going, but when he doesn't have any immediate work that fills all of his mind - he would very much enjoy late-night social gatherings and entertainments to try and force himself to wake anywhere earlier than mid-day. His room is a total mess, which includes the bed that used to be luxurious when first bought but now has mountains of random stuff hoarded upon and beside it (which also makes it difficult to change bedsheets, and he tends to get angry and annoyed at his servants if any of thousands of his papers are moved, even though he himself could forget of them for months). Celebrimbor's sleep is generally erratic, he can wake up in the middle of the night and just get up because he has a new brilliant idea, and just the same if he suddenly gets bored in the middle of doing something - he'd drop everything, lie on the nearest couch, cover his face with a random book and snooze away.
Hide-and-seek.
My hc is that Maedhros is kinda traumatized by never finding Elured and Elurin in the forest.
Also that’s a random laiquendi oc I needed for comic lol. No name.
