This section of my fic is really cool to me, because Tommy learns the exact wrong lesson than I think someone reading this scene would, and it's so indicative of his major character flaw which is believing that he is the main character. He acts like a main character the whole fic, untouchable, no one would dare make him face any consequences. And it results in him barreling into a plan that results in the people he decided were the good guys killing someone who was. A friend. At the end of the day, Cadaver was only a friend.

Quackity is arguably a bad person, but he's not evil, he's just the antagonist to Tommy's story, and as such he has a different philosophy. And I think reading this scene you get a full picture that Quackity's ideas aren't "the bad ideas", they're just ideas that you can choose a side on. Tommy isn't wrong either, he's just got different ideas. But his takeaway is that he needs to be more decisive, more firm in his beliefs, find his own place at the table.

In terms of the viceduo of it all, Tommy and Quackity are both defined by being "powerless" while having a lot of agency. And as the first hero and villain in this fic, I think you get a sense that they are crazy important, while also not being nearly as powerful as their agency indicates. The chip on his shoulder is obviously an allusion to Las Nevadas, and this difference between them is that Quackity is willing to play odds, and let some things work out on their own, whereas Tommy needs security and certainty. He's an orphan looking for his home, at the end of the day.

Loving TDLOSK is so fricking crazy. Cuz why is it actually so deep? I love a slice of life but Saiki K is so much more than that. It somehow utilizes anime stereotypes while also giving all of us a glimpse into the complexities of each character. It leaves you fulfilled but yearning for more. I push all of my friends into watching it just so they can experience the same thing I did.

Loving saiki kusuo is lowkey harder than it needs to be. Cuz like, I love you saiki you’re so fricking awesome and I relate to you but also I wanna be you? But also I love you but you belong with This Person™ and at the same time you might also be aroace?

It’s such an amazing thing. So many fandoms have so much drama over random stuff but I feel like no matter what our love for Saiki K transcends any ship or head canon disagreements that we have 😭 Sue me if I’m being dramatic

and then he sees atsushi laughing at something akutagawa says and goes through another breakdown (this one a little more severe becuz poe has been openly simping over ranpo but aku once cut off atsushi's leg) and then approaches them and invites akutagawa for tea to have a Conversation

then as he's walking away, readying himself for this, he sees kunikida and dazai with chuuya and is about to have another mini breakdown but then deep breath in deep breath out - he pretends to not notice and pledges to think of it another day

he wonders if its ranpo's influence thats causing all his kids i mean employees to date ppl from rival organizations that could potentially hurt them or if he was just cursed to have kids i mean employees who date enemies
