Okay this is awesome!!

My brother just found out he was aroace today ^^ (hes 9)

We were talking about pride while i was making pins for my bag, and he spotted my asexual flag.

He asked me "what is the flag on your bag?"

"Its the asexual flag." I said.

"What does that mean?"

"It means i dont feel sexual attraction towards anyone." He thought about it, tapping his chin, before smiling and looking at me.

"I dont feel that way towards other people either! Does this mean im asexual?"

"Possibly!" I said. I remembered something else. "You know, you could also be aromantic."

"Whats that?"

"It means that you dont feel romantic attraction towards other people."

"Arent those like the same thing?" I shook my head.

"They are very different."

"Oh. Well, i dont feel romantic, or sexual towards other people. Does that mean im both?"

"Yes, it could ^^. They call it aroace."

Let me tell you, this boy lit up with joy.

"Oh! Is there a flag for it?"

"Y E S . Youll never guess what the colors are in it, i think youll like it..."

We proceeded to talk more about it and he made a pin for it :D

Kids are pretty clever and understand things pretty well, we shouldnt underestimate them. I was honestly very proud of him. I told him also about when i was younger and identified as aroace and how nobody listened to me about it. He thought it meant i was bullied (the kids in his class are sort of unhinged and bully each other a lot. Really though the kids just sort of looked at me with blank faces and ignored me lol.)

You know what, he also told me that he didnt think being gay is bad 🥹🥹🥹 I AM TEACHING HIM ALL THE THINGS AND ITS PAYING OFFFFFF

I was so happy that my brother could hear definitions for these labels and know that they applied to him. (I also told him later on that its oksy to change labels or even just be a straight ally, which he also got after some explaining.) I thanked him for listening to me and he told me that he liked hearing about it and didnt mind.
