hi, a lot of you need a perspective reset

the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years

taking the threshold of adulthood as 18, you are likely to spend at least 52 years as a fully grown adult

at the age of 30 you have lived less than one quarter of your adult life (12/52 years)

'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65

it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age

it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.

you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.

young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!

there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big

tebliğ my mother-in-law is in town and she's been giving us a lot of perspective on this one she's in her 60s and has had a wildly eventful and fascinating life and now she's retired and farming and going on trips with her friends who are much older even!!! friends who have started over from scratch friends who are dating new people in their 70s and i won't tell you about my mother-in-law's sex life but i will say she and her friends are all having an awesome fun time people are people for as long as they're alive they both change an infinite amount over time but also hardly at all i think when life is hard when you're young and you don't expect to live to adulthood or live past early adulthood and then you do you feel confused. adrift. even if you have it together you think you missed it all well I'll tell you that's most definitely not true even though it's hard to remember there's so much to live for in this world and by simple nature of time you've experienced almost none of it in your 20s and even your 30s you are going to have a wonderful time

Your blog is public, your posts are public. There is actually a setting to change this if you want to; otherwise literally anyone can and will interact. Stop advertising your age (and mental illnesses, etc) and block adults yourself if you want to.

If you wouldn't walk through a crowd of strangers wearing your personal info on a billboard or expecting nobody over 18 to so much as glance at you, don't do it online.

SAY NOTHING OR L I E hot take i will be very upset if i accidentally make friends with a teen pretending to be an adult but i think it's so much better than making friends with a teen online on purpose irl like whatever. i was friends with a 1st grader at school when I was in grade 7 and then in her teens and now we're both adult friends. but i do not want to knowingly talk to someone who is 14 online it feels like teens online are so painfully naive these days and so was i but holy shit not like that and when you say your age and you act your age they WILL take advantage of you at least if your don't say your age people will just think you're immature when you reveal your personal information it's so so so bad and it's horrifying that we don't teach that safety anymore people nowadays often REQUIRE you to put your age in your bio which i also think is unhinged but whatever so I'm “90s baby” do your own goddamn maths anyway this has been my rant of the month
