Yay! You're My Top Go For Anything Cosmic, And Have Always Explained Things Through A Scientific/studious

Yay! You're my top go for anything cosmic, and have always explained things through a scientific/studious lense versus weird "when the stars align" sort of way.

something in my brain changed today where i realized that i can't keep treating astrolatry as a concept instead of a religion because it literally is a religion, at least in a broad sense depending on how you look at it.

and i don't really vibe with that structure anymore ?

no i'm not giving up on cosmic magic - that's still my thing. it'll just be viewed through a much more secular lens. :)

Just got off work, and I'm off for a couple of days. I'm contemplating offering free readings to kind of get back into the swing of things, because I can read for my boyfriend and myself, but it's different when reading for others.

But this is only an idea, and I have to think about my personal boundaries and guidelines for the types of questions I will answer. Any who, I'm going to go home, get into comfortable clothes then cuss out my laundry as I fold it.

Yes! You coined the term advwitch for a reason. So we can have discussions with like minded people. I just want to talk and make friends. I'm in South Central Kansas, I'm not around many witches, pagans, or anything magical. I'm in Trump land.

I miss the good old days of witchblr. Does anybody else remember like we could read whatever we wanted, and we could post about it? And sure, there were people that didn't care of the book or topic. The difference between then and now is that it was a discussion and not a beat down session. And then, people were kind enough to offer other book titles!

Also, we had a clear set of guidelines referring to cultural appropriation, and words or phrases that were frowned upon. Other then that, you want to be a Death Witch, go for it. A Sea Witch, have at it. A Storm Witch, power to ya. The lists goes on. Then, if we were curious about there practice we would ask genuine questions! If the practitioner maybe did something that maybe you didn't like or thought was borderline on the no no list, again you didn't beat them down, it was a discussion.

The ones that couldn't handle having a informal discussion were simply blocked and their comments were deleted. Or in some cases, the post was deleted, which was pretty common, and occasionally remade.

Also, side tangent, we liked the titles of the different witch types, because it was our niche and it was organized. Sure, you don't have to have a title or a certain practice, that's fine. As for me, I like having a title or a type because it keeps me focused on what I want to achieve. Plus, having a title made the witchblr tags so much easier to navigate.

Automatic Writing

Automatic Writing

Automatic writing is a form of divination, taking words from the subconscious mind, and translating them onto paper. It is not just a form of divination, but a common method of receiving messages from spirits and other entities. From this it gets its other name: 'spirit writing'. When you do this you are effectively asking a spirit to possess your hand in order to communicate. In the practice of spiritualism spirits are said to take control of the hand to write messages, draw pictures and symbols, write letters, or even entire books.

Many will point out how similar automatic writing is to a talking (ouija) board. It is quite similar in the sense of using spelled-out messages as a means of communication. If you plan to contact entities have protections in place and do a cleansing, just as you would for a talking board session. Anything you call on, you must be prepared to banish.

Automatic writing is typically done on paper with pencil/pen/crayon/paint/etc. But, some people do actually use the notes application on their phone or a laptop keyboard as their medium. There are different ways to practice automatic writing, but they are all capable of achieving results.

Automatic Writing With Spirits

• It shouldn't matter what you're writing on, it could be a designated journal, notebook, or copy paper, or on the ground with chalk. Just make sure spirit has enough room.

• You should practice a fair amount of meditation before hand and be capable of entering a 'trance state' to allow spirit to clearly communicate.

• When you reach a trance state let the spirit know they are welcome to use your hand to write. Don't focus on what the spirit is writing or the letters your hand is shaping, concentrate instead on the meditation and your connection to spirit.

• When you are satisfied that they got their message through, open your eyes and scan the paper for letters, words, symbols, images, etc.

Automatic Writing Divination

• Meditate on what you want to know for a few minutes and then begin your writing. You may also keep your eyes open and jot down any words that come to mind immediately.

• You may cross out anything that doesn't make sense to decipher a clearer message.

It's important to remember that automatic writing gets clearer with practice. Your first several tries may yield little to no results. Patience will pay off and it can become a reliable form of divination and spirit communication and is a powerful addition to any craft.
