Study of Antarctic ladscape from a photo. About 45 min on artflow.
It has absolutely nothing to do with my last post. I swear. ( I am lying)
One of the most unhinged couples in rock history.

anyway i know people don't like to hear it because of the whole 'sic semper tyrannus' vibe of it all but the modern day equivalent of the ides of march would be if all those senators who've been in office since the 50s and were getting busted for insider trading in 2020 got together and stabbed bernie sanders to death in the capitol rotunda. i'm not even kidding.
This drawing, and this moment, mean so much to me. I first drew this scene 14 years ago, and when I uncovered the old drawing a few months ago, I knew I had to redraw it. Old drawing and close ups are under the cut:
When I was 12 this was the best drawing I had ever done. The original concept was to have the map behind him because I don’t like doing landscapes and never have. For the new drawing, I decided against writing out the place names over the mountains for fear that it would be too cluttered. I also decided to change the shield design to a more Norman style incorporating his heraldry and I replaced the greaves with boots for purely aesthetic reasons. I KNOW he should be wearing a helm and it’s in the text I literally transcribed, but I do not care because seeing his hair is important to me. I *might* draw him in a helm in the future. If the universe wills it so.
More close-ups of the new drawing:
Dimensions are 18x24” and the media are watercolor, india ink, fineliner and gel pen. Writing the whole passage took over two hours and I got *so* emotional. fjggjgghkvhk *clawing at the bars of my enclosure*
I have no idea how many hours I spent on it in total but I have been tinkering on it for 3 months.
I was really afraid that I made him look too old by trying to render his facial expression. I am also concerned that I haven’t captured the full depth of his emotion. But I tried my fucking bestest and that’s all that one can do. If I am still a fingolfucker in another 14 years I will draw him again and it will be even better <3
two more doggos i painted this week for my dad and his wife
Luthien Tinuviel in the halls of Menegroth
"As Beren looked into her eyes
Within the shadows of her hair
The trembling starlight of the skies
He saw there mirrored shimmering.
Tinuviel the elven-fair,
Immortal maiden elven-wise,
About him cast her shadowy hair
And arms like silver glimmering"

The original idea was to leave it black and white to give it a daguerrotype feeling, but I am quite tempted to try and colorize it.
“Nobody in the army ever reads a regulation or an order as if it were to be a guide for his conduct, or in any other manner than as an amusing novel.”

No exams until september means more time for painting.
The Dreamer arrives in Alagadda on the day of the Red Lord's Carnival.
(That is why the sky is red and not its usual color)
The Dreamer in Alagadda.
This sketch is still far from finished but i love it and I can't wait to paint it.
I hate having to sketch with so much detail but 3 point perspective is a b***h.
From sketch to finished illustration, gouache and watercolour on gesso primed paper.
Following: more ramblings on the technique and inspiration
I loved the process, and clear gesso one of the best thing to ever happen to artists because sketching on gessoed surfaces is a pain in the ass.
Also this way I didnt have to worry about over working the paper. That in fact is NOT watercolour paper.
Subject-wise I have been toying with re-starting my struggle with the Russian language and in my Tumblr rotted brain I thought that it would be fun to read some fics in Russian with help from the ever loving Google translate. Then I remembered reading when I was like 11-13 some (way too adult for my age probably) great and creepy urban fantasy set in Moscow.
Long story short I then stumbled on this amazing fic for the ночной дозор fandom, and my inner preteen was so delighted I had to paint something. So here is one of my faves, an old schemer of a Light Magician, part time steppe dweller and simp for his way-cooler partner: the Most Bright Gesar just before he met Olga.
Italian med student with an obsession for painting. Also a mythology and history nerd. Give me a book and I'll give you my heart.
