I’ve only written and published three fics so far, but they’re all so special to me in different ways. Here we go:

1. Until the Legs Have Swung

This one will probably always have a special place in my heart because it pulled me out of a 7 year-long writing slump and became my first-ever longfic. And I enjoyed writing Cutler and Flo so, so much, their dynamic is just unmatched. 🥹

2. a sailor and a nightingale

Currently 17,877 words, James Norrington x OFC, post-DMC AU, crack treated seriously, fake-dating of sorts, secret society

My current wip! I wanted to play with a silly trope in the potc universe and mixed in some Hellfire Club-esque shenanigans just because I got inspired by a podcast series I’d listened to some weeks before I started working on this fic. It works surprisingly well for what it is (two seemingly unmixable premises mashed together in a single fic). It’s been so much fun to write so far and I can’t wait to see where it goes!

3. Guess

Nothing more than a self-indulgent UTLHS spin-off that solely exists because I wanted to write something smutty about my favourite toxic couple involving a dagger.

Everything I wrote before last year doesn’t exist anymore or is buried somewhere on a poorly designed German fanfiction site, and it’s mostly lotr oneshots, many of them crack-ish.

Elizabeth purchases James’s debts from a Tortuga tavern, so he’s left with no choice but to join her crew.

He is as strong as he is tragic.

My God, What Have I Done? is a god-tier trope tbh

There’s just something about watching a character come to the realization that they’ve just said and/or done something terrible, and it works no matter how they realize it. Whether the realization is immediate or delayed, sudden or gradual, it all demonstrates the character’s shock.

I especially love it when the realization triggers a physical reaction - things like the character collapsing in shock or hastily backing away from another character. But it can be just as effective when the character freezes in place, unable to come to grips with having done something that completely contradicts their morals.

It’s just a really really good trope.
