Sirius Black is the father of all time. He works on homework with Teddy the second they come home with it, even though they’re just a kindergartener. He kisses every single injury, from paper cuts to broken arms. He carries them everywhere. He reads bedtime stories every night. He celebrates every birthday like it’s a massive milestone. He plays all the silly games they come up with and is completely in character it the whole time, be it dress up, tag, or make believe, he’s down. He never raises his voice, let lone his hands. He wakes up to change diapers or feed in the middle of the night. He welcomes every friend and partner into the house with open arms, so long as they’re good to his Teddy. He attends every parent-teacher conference and pays rapt attention to everything the teachers say. He bakes cookies every weekend and keeps track of all of their favourite foods so they’ll always enjoy what he makes. He buys thoughtful gifts at least once a month just to show his love a little more. He makes time for all of their school plays and sports games and competitions. He brushes their hair even when they’re well past the age he should if they forget to, just because he can. He pays for their wedding and pretends not to cry when he sees how happy Teddy is. He drops off fresh baked goods and leftovers at their house when they move out whenever he can. He shows them how to fix their car and appliances and everything else. He teaches them how to do makeup and hair when they ask. He gives advice on anything and everything. He researches all of their interests so he can have good conversations with them. Eventually, he becomes the world’s greatest grandfather, doing everything he did for Teddy and still being there to help them alone (he babysits whenever he’s allowed because he loves them all so much).

Sirius Black who cries when Remus kisses his cheek, tucks his hair behind his ear, and tells him he loves him. Sirius Black who cries when Remus rolls over and wraps himself around him in his sleep. Sirius Black who cries when Remus wears his clothes and nuzzles his face into them just to inhale the smell of him, smiling all the while. Sirius Black who cries when Remus does mundane favours for him, like picking up his favourite candy from the store or making him coffee in the morning. Sirius Black who is by no means a crybaby— Remus is the only one who has ever seen him cry— but breaks down every time Remus is domestically kind to him because of the way he was treated as a child.

Remus: excuses himself from a party after 10 minutes bc he wants to go knit. Wearing the most heinous jumper even your grandfather would shy away from. Blacks out after one (1) beer. Dies if someone makes eye contact with him. Sits awkwardly in the corner trying not to cry when he has to stay in a party for too long (fails every time). Bones pop 87 times every time he stands up. Cannot sit on the floor or he will need to be picked up bc his back is so bad. Asks Sirius + James + Peter to kiss his booboos bc his mummy used to do it and it made it feel better. Always has at least 3 books on him but needs Sirius to carry them bc he’s too weak. Hates smoking bc he’s worried about cancer. Very awkward. Loser.

“sirius, i’m stuck,” fleamont called out, tapping the crossword with the tip of his pen. “shade of sky blue, nine letters. come here.”

drying his hand as he came out of the kitchen, sirius sat on the armrest, looking at the paper. “cerulean.”

“doesn’t that have eight letters?” fleamont asked, pushing his rectangle-framed glasses up his nose.

“it can also be spelled as caerulean,” sirius said, leaning forward and pointing to a word at the top of the page. “that’s loquacious; overly chatty,” and gesturing the one somewhere in the middle-right , “demure; modest and reserved. so, not like james.”

fleamont chuckled as james put his hands on his hips in the kitchen.

“as if you’re particularly demure,” he retorted, accentuating the last word right as his mother gave him a look. james leaned down for her to kiss his cheek; euphemia patted it affectionately.

“i’ll be out to buy some groceries for dinner,” she said, “i should be home in about an hour or so.”

fleamont stood up, groaning as he peeled himself off the armchair. “oh, no, the boys and i are going to take care of that,” he smiled, as sirius and james headed towards the door, bickering, “right boys?”

both of them nodded, their topic of conversation shifting. fleamont put an arm around his wife and kissed her cheek, as james gagged and sirius chuckled at him.

They meet in university. I’m not sure what classes their respective degrees would have in common, but they both seem like they’d take psychology, so I guess they meet there.

Remus has been subjected to cumulative days of rants and speeches about Sirius’ degrees (he claims it’s to prepare for his classes, but it’s really just because he’s a nerd who likes geeking out).

Remus, after staying up too late preparing lessons for too many days in a row just before summer break ends, has absolutely spoken to Sirius like he’s six years old.

Remus has all of the gifts from his students on his desk. He’s a really good teacher, so he gets a lot. They’ve spilled over to Sirius’ desk now, and he likes complaining about how he wishes his students gave him cards.

They communicate so well. Remus is a pretty good communicator because he learned how to be in hopes of being a good example for the kids, and his experience in helping children explain their emotions is very helpful. Sirius is shit at talking about his needs/wants/feelings, so Remus uses the same tactics he uses on the first graders to talk with him. It’s surprisingly effective

Give me elementary school teacher Remus who teaches first graders and university professor Sirius who teaches physics and mechanical engineering. Give me Remus who takes out a feelings wheel and goes over basic communication skills with Sirius, because he never properly learned them as a child (namely due to Walburga and Orion’s abuse). Give me Sirius who helps Remus make little birthday and Christmas gifts for his students. Just… give me elementary school teacher Remus and university professor Sirius.

EXACTLY! But like… only with Remus + James + Peter when nobody else is around. Anybody else comes and he very rapidly becomes one of those massive dogs built to guard farms and shit

Remus Lupin calls Sirius Black baby!! It doesn’t matter that Sirius is 6’5” and 300lbs with a strongman build, covered in tattoos, heavily pierced, and insanely strong (in all ways possible), he is Remus’ baby. He sits on the ground between Remus’ legs and rests on his thighs while he works. He curls up against Remus’ side, arms around his waist, nuzzling into his neck when he feels too vulnerable. He routinely lays on Remus’ lap and silently begs for forehead kisses and praise. Remus refers to Sirius as “baby” in public and then this massive bear of a man walks over and wraps his arms around Remus and pulls him into his chest and people are terrified. But Remus is just like “yeah that’s my baby! Hi baby!” and Sirius kisses his head and calls him the most heart-wrenchingly touching and beautiful names ever… I love them to death omg

Remus Lupin with the bent nose that’s a little too big, with the soft tired amber eyes, with the soft jawline, with the slightly crooked teeth, with the spattered freckles all over his face, with the knobby knees, with the lanky limbs, with the skinny and completely un-muscled body, with the fluffy curly and inexplicably tangled tawny hair, with the awkward and hunched posture.

Remus Lupin who is so strange and weird that no one really understands why/how he’s friends with James and Sirius, and everyone is even more confused when he and Sirius get together and this literal god of a man is with such a dweeb (then you see them together and they’re so sweet and in love that it makes sense). He has to have a hand on Sirius at all times because, if he doesn’t, he’s scared that Sirius will leave and he won’t know where he is. He always wants to be in Sirius’ lap because he’s freezing cold constantly and Sirius runs hot, so he clearly needs to be cuddled, because why else would they be the way they are. He always has to be held and reassured that he is loved because he’s an insecure little baby.

Remus Lupin’s first kiss was Sirius, he lost his virginity to Sirius, his first relationship was with Sirius, because he’s scared of everyone else finding out he’s a werewolf. The only time he was ever called a Casanova was when his friends poked fun at him for so much as talking to someone outside of their direct friend group (Sirius, James, Peter, Lily, Mary, Marlene, etc.). He was an antisocial weirdo that shied away from conversations, and panicked and ran if any confrontation occurred.

Remus Lupin was not an active problem solver, his fight or flight response was permanently set to flight. He lived on chocolate and tea and whatever snacks his friends brought him when he was studying. He wasn’t a natural straight-O student, he had to work his ass off to get Es in most classes and Es and Os in his best ones. He couldn’t work for the life of him because he had a bad back and hips and knees and once hurt himself trying to lift a stack of books the wrong way (with his back not his legs). He’s allergic to pollen and dust and peanuts and he’s lactose intolerant and his stomach is super sensitive. He doesn’t smoke because he’s got asthma and is too scared he’ll get lung cancer or something because he’s drop-dead terrified of literally everything.

Loser kinda-ugly nerd Remus John Lupin needs to make a comeback because he is so cute.
