being scared of the dark as a child meant that your entire house became the setting of a real-life horror video game as soon as your parents called for lights out
left brain: The Joker is a cinematic masterpiece that explores the mind and struggles of a mentally ill man without romanticizing or glorifying it. It commentates on classism and how society treats mentally ill persons so accurately that it becomes unnerving. Arthur’s descent into insanity was not caused by his mental illness, but because of the society that didn’t protect or care for him, bringing forth the conversation about how we as a society treat those who suffer from mental illnesses that we have often ignored. It is a bold, beautiful, real portrayal of the Joker. Joaquin Phoenix put his heart and soul into this role to bring the Joker to life and Todd Phillips created the masterpiece of the decade. This film is so eloquently put together it is practically impossible to fully dissect the levels of symbolism and pure genius that went into it. The Joker is an example of the perfect film, there is no need for a sequel for this movie alone delivers everything one could hope for in a film. It was passionate, raw, innovative, inspiring, and an overall glorious film; a sequel would tarnish its perfection and would not fulfill us past the point of Joker. Some things just need to be left alone and remembered for us to cherish as its own separate piece without corporate greed running it into the ground.
