Oooooh my goodness your art is beautiful!!!! As an aspiring pixel artist (+indie game dev) may I ask the generic questions "what program do you use?" "Do you have any tips for beginners" and "What led you to this art form?"
also how do you make/ where do you get your beautiful colour pallettes? :0
sorry if you've already answered these!
thank you very much!! you have blessed me, i love answering questions 🥰 it will probably be Long but i'm nothing if not thorough 👌 good luck on your journey & i hope this helps!
"What program do you use?"
i use aseprite! i don't think there's anything that measures up to it, when considering both ease of use when starting + depth for later. sure, you can start with photoshop, or clip studio, or anything else... but you will regret not picking up aseprite at some point. ESPECIALLY for game dev.
add it to your steam wishlist, it's on sale often for as little as $5, and you will get an email when it goes on sale again!
"Do you have any tips for beginners?"
answered here!
"What led you to this art form?"
i think it can be boiled down to 3 things:
-nostalgia; specifically, for the old internet + forums, where pixel art reigned supreme
-i have loved art my whole life, but generally disliked traditional art mediums and found them frustrating
-i also tried digital art many times, but disliked the 'unlimited' feeling? if that makes sense... i find comfort in the constraints of pixels!
"Where do you get/How do you make your color palettes?"
i make them all myself! i have a basic palette i use, and i generally go into a piece with a palette in mind and adjust my 'starter' palette to accommodate to the specific feeling i want.
i've been thinking of making a tiktok to go more in depth about this as it's a bit too complicated for text!
Hi! I love your art and I was wondering where all your animal crossing posts went? I originally followed you back in 2020 during the acnh era and you had really pretty codes and such, but I can't find any of those posts anymore :( did you delete them or are they on a different account? <3
i did delete the posts at some point, although i made a masterpost with all of the codes so they wouldn't get lost... i can't seem to find it anymore though :( i tend to go into a manic mode sometimes where i delete posts or throw away a bunch of stuff, so i might have deleted the masterpost,, i'm sorry 😭
i still hope to one day return to AC when i have free time though, but i would do so with mods or emulator+mods for sure. is there a way to share codes on a modded or emulated switch? i am unsure!
i got a new family member <3 meet ghost!
hello, i'd like to inform u that i find ur art extremely beautiful and bc of that i got the urge to learn how to do pixel art, so yeah its been a while since doing anything art related so thanks. do u have any tips for begginers? hope ur doing well ♡
thank you so much!! always happy to inspire 💗💛
the biggest resource i used when i was learning pixel art was the pixeljoint forums. you can see the most popular resources here!
(i would skip over any of the threads about software, they're all dated before aseprite came out. its genuinely the only software you need nowadays. it's on steam!)
this thread especially is very useful for first learning the basic rules.
there' s a lot of things that are specific to pixel art that you will need to learn, but there is also a lot of general art knowledge you'll need. i've been doing studies and school for art longer than i can remember. just takes a lot of time, that's all there really is to it : )

it may seem like i haven't made art in an entire year but the truth is i have started about 40 different pieces and just continuously to drop them for a new shiny idea bc my brain dont work
