I’ve Been Meaning To Post More Stuff, But I Have Anxiety About People Taking My Original Characters,

I got my first request the other day :D

it’s not complete but I figured since I was unable to start working on it until i got home today that I ought to post a progress image

Watermelons

Me and my BF: talking on the phone Him: starts talking about how watermelon flavored things don't taste like actual watermelon Me, trying to be a smartass: Well actual watermelons have, ya'know, water in them, and water doesn't taste like anything, so of course the flavoring would be different. Him: YOU'RE TALKING SHIT ON WATERMELONS!!! ME: wha- wait WUT?!?! Him: sayin' watermelons don't taste like anything.... Me, desperately trying to salvage what I had believed to be a witty remark on the flavoring of watermelons: I said water doesn't taste like anything, the melon is the part with the taste! Him: I'm gonna go now Me: wait, are we clear that I was not talking shit on watermelons, because I'm beginning to feel like that's something that needs to be clarified Him: hangs up Me, legitimately unsure as to whether the love of my life is genuinely upset at my alleged watermelon shit talking: 

So, a few things:

No the comic sadly will not be ready in time for the previous deadline (i underestimated how much time and loving effort go into coloring these guys, and also how long i could go before inevitably going into anime cuddle time with Xerxes)

No i haven’t given up on said comic, it’ll just be a few more days before i can get it finished

I’m going to be taking a break until i get back home from visiting family for the holidays (if i do any work before that point it will be if i have absolutely nothing else to do)

I’m very saddened that i couldn’t meet my goal, but considering the little amount of time i had and how far i got before seeing that i wasn’t going to make it, i’m pretty damn fuckin proud! i’m also proud that i’m able to make the mature decision to admit that i won’t make it, rather than try to stay up all night in a feeble attempt to finish this

however, despite all this, I felt i needed to post something

So, here is a mini preview of what i’m workin with (please not this image may be adjusted i the final form)

I’m sorry to the few who may have been looking forward to it, but i hope that when i do finish, the wait will be worth it

Here are some drawings from a giant sketchbook

This Sketchbook was originally for my 12th grade art class but I didn't end up using it much

One assignment was to draw things that contrasted, so I turned to my characters

I will always adore that smiling face of Psychoe's

This was the page where I created the main character in the first arc of my comic series (i promise i will work on it, the release of Hazbin Hotel's pilot episode has given me the inspiration to do so) Desmond Eldrich!

As you can clearly see, I have difficulties completely killing characters, especially with the way the worlds systems work. So I tried to make a character for the sole purpose to have them die.... and I ended up with sweet lil Desmond here... and I just couldn't do it.

Stuff from when I was fleshing out his character a bit

One thing I've noticed when I draw characters is that their hair is almost always a floof with curls. Especially the boys. I can't seem to keep it from doing that so I try other things to make each character's design as unique as their personalities

Examples of this:

Kira has a very specific floof to his hair and is almost always wearing his grey hoodie

Grim's hair floof is in the same shape as Kira's but much more curled and he usually wears a tattered coat (think Garry from Ib)

Satan's hair always does this weird "swoop" to one side

Nova always has his stitch marks across his face and wearing a white suit

Miyoto has a very curly hair floof that covers their right eye (unless in a non-human form)

Karmen's hair is very long and her bangs cover her eyes

Lucifer has less of a floof that covers his right eye and he is almost always wearing something that covers his neck injury, and said thing usually ends up covering his mouth too
