- ily Pat giggling and then going, "Alright motherfucker!" before singing This City Is Killing Me from his split album with Ceschi

- Ily Ben and Sean discussing cd prices and Sean saying, "We usually do about $5-$7" and Ben says, "You should've said $7-$10, dude-" and Sean says, "$7-$10!" before playing Going to Georgia from the Live At Trunk Space album

- ily when Jello Biafra says, "Here's another one for the police!" before playing Goons of Hazard on Dead Kennedys' Mutiny on the Bay album

- ily when Sean says, "We have two more and one of them is not ours. One of them belongs to The Mountain Goats, from North Carolina." before singing Going to Georgia on the Live At Trunk Space album. Because,, it was 2005. Prefacing who the Mountain Goats were dates that album in a really beautiful way because like. Look at them now. Both bands. It's silly but it's a very sweet like ,,look how far both bands have come,, kinda thing. Idk.

- ily when Sean Bonnette says, "Rigby? I'm gonna fucking stab you. Don't look at me with your shitty eyes :/ oh are we recording? Okay :3" in the beginning of Uno Mas Cerveza Por Favor from their split album with Flaspar/Golden Boots

- ily Pat saying, "This one is for all the ladies, it's about how you should all start a kickass rock and roll band." before playing For A Girl In Rhinelander on the WDU Live in Plattsburgh album

- ily Sean saying, "If you guys feel compelled to clap after we play,, please don't. Because that would be loud." before playing Jesus Saves during a show that wasn't even legal to host in a hotel room in Florida from their Holiday Inn Gainesville album

I know I'm missing so many, and i know some of these examples don't count as much because they're from live albums, but those shows were so important to the people there and I'm happy that the audio was preserved in a way where they're still being talked about so many years later.

one thing i never get tired of in songs is when they include some sounds from the recording booth like a laugh at the end, a ‘was that good?’ or like, the sounds of the guitar being put down, a chair creaking. it’s nice how music can be used as an escape but also something that ties you right back down to earth. it will affect you so deeply & then ur like wow… you just played that. it’s grounding & magical & just one of my fave things ever!
