i keep running into comments saying the choices you make in pentiment don't matter very much, and i am Certain this is just a tragic case of "does not see character driven storytelling as a valuable form of storytelling" and i should just move on with my life, but... the themes... won't SOMEONE think of the THEMES...!!!
1) if your choices don't matter, then why do i agonize over them so? the story spans 25 years, and the things i say in act I ripples through all the way to act III. words i say can put someone in danger, or convince them to pursue happiness. every character in tassing matters to someone else and partakes in the community in some way, however small. wherever i point for the sword to fall, the void left behind is felt sharply. you're taking part in history.
2) and yet, many choices are out of your hands. andreas is a man, not god. did you not converse with illuminata about the restrictions of your circumstances? what choices do women have, besides marriage or the abbey? why do peasants dream of kingship? choices are taken away from you by those with more power. you can't prevent a death from occuring, only point the finger. is it not arrogant to think you alone could change the world? is it not a relief?
3) the Regret: none of the choices are more correct to make than the others, they are simply the choices you made, and the ones you must live with - and you do have to live. sometimes you were not given a choice, and still you must live. time will pass, and you must live.
play pentiment btw it made me laugh and also tore my heart out

I LOVE that the older the characters are in pentiment the more worn out the paper is, and the art style is a bit different, probably from the artistic generational differences. It’s just so so good.
If Obsidian ever released a Pentiment art book I would literally buy that so fast 😭
I read Legends Of Magic recently and aside from me writing a 165 messages long essay in my boyfriend's dms I could not stop thinking about these two. Their dynamic is not only really sweet it's also the type of thing that will get me hyperfixated and wanting to see more of.
THEY DESERVE MORE CONTENT.
Leaving my obsession for possibly homosexual horses aside, I made this piece taking inspiration from this comic panel:
I like to think Rockhoof hasn't toasted marshmallows before, and because of his strength being capable of easily destroying both the stick and marshmallows with the tiniest of force, Stygian is instead helping him with his magic.
And then they kiss afterwards.
I’m still heartbroken by breaking Werner’s nose in Act 1, which means for Bother Florian he is unable to get access to the books he wanted by the Abbot💔😢 My second play through is so fun and emotionally wrecking. Im on Act 3 now and I LOVE seeing the many little things that changed than my first playthrough. I’m a sucker for getting to know and help out every NPC (Except you Hannah)
I legit refuse to see a disgraced and drunk Werner in Act 3 nope nada
"Your decisions don't really matter in Pentiment."
If you show prior Ferenc grace and mercy in act 1 he will in turn show the same grace to Ursula and Vacslav when they need him most.
You can encourage a lonely man to find love.
You can encourage a sad kid to pursue his passion and become the father his own father never was.
I hear that you can also have enough of an impact on Werner for him to actually help someone?
I don't know if I mattered but Andreas and Magdalene sure did matter. They mattered so much to so many.
I am an emotional wreck.
I actually can't stop thinking about how the losing party last election dressed like vikings and tried to break into the white house and the losing party this election are sharing suicide prevention hotlines
anyone remember this show?? :)
Average interaction with Guy and. Monk yaoi
