Being with Mark just felt right, like all of your limbs fit perfectly with his. No one had expected the two of you to last, having only met when you were both sixteen. Your relationship was fill of the most joyous laughter, from the endless hours spent at the dorm in your early years with the dreamies to your baby girl’s first laugh.

Your first memory of truly loving mark was when he, shaking from head to toe, turned up at your doorstep, carrying a shopping bag full of things to cheer you up after your awful first day at your new job at nineteen years old. He stood at your door step, giggling nervously with flushed cheeks, when you realised you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him.

You were twenty-two before Mark even dared to bring up your future together. ‘hey y/n. do you want to get married? when you’re older?’ He didn’t expect your response. ‘to you? i wouldn't dream of anything else.’

You were twenty-three when you broke up. Long gone were the sweet eleven am coffee dates, with Ed Sheeran softly playing in the background. Instead, they were replaced by insecurities and tears. You were working hard, on the course to complete your degree, alongside working to still be able to pay your rent. Mark spent months away on tour, dying inside without proper contact with you. He couldn’t handle it anymore. ‘its for the best’ he lied.

You were twenty-five when you saw each other again. Although you had changed your address two years prior, you knew that some mail must still be getting sent to him. Despite being with guys since, you could never build the courage to contact him, to make sure. He tended to just trash the mail that had your name on it. However, this one, this one he knew was important, with the name of your university printed neatly in the upper right corner of the envelope. Mark knew just how important this was, all those sleepless nights spent huddled over textbooks and computer screens, he sat at your side comforting you as you submitted each assignment late into the evening. Whether you graduated or not was literally in his hands - and he hated it.

You were twenty-six when the two of you re-celebrated your one year anniversary. Mark had set up a candle-lit dinner of the rooftop of your apartment building. His guitar, as always, had to make an appearance and it wasn’t long before you were being serenaded to the sound of Love Me Tender.

You were twenty-nine when Mark finally decided to ask you to marry him, and you had Johnny and Doyoung’s ‘encouraging’ words to thank for him finally doing it. He wouldn’t admit it to anyone but Mark definitely shed a few tears when you walked down the aisle towards him to the tune of Can’t Help Falling In Love. He utterly denies softly crying as the two of you had your first dance as a married couple to Love Me Tender.

You were 30 when your baby girl was born, Mark was absolutely smitten with her, not being able to comprehend that she was actually half of him. Mark liked to help wherever he could. It’s 3am? not to worry Mark would make sure to hush you back to sleep before going to soothe his other girl to sleep. Mark would’ve died to make sure you were as comfortable as possible during those first few months. He never found out about all the times you would sneak out the bed after him, seeing him rocking your little girl to sleep whilst humming the tune of Love Me Tender to her.

You were laying on the hospital bed when you finally had the chance the thank God for bringing Mark back to you. It wasn’t long afterwards that your eyes shut for the final time, Mark rubbing soft circles into your palm, mouth pressing kisses every so often to your crown whilst singing Love Me Tender to you, one final time.
