Blogging this tweet because this explains SO MUCH about the mindset of pretty much all the folks I’ve known who’re against single-payer, it’s not even funny…
similar to how a wasp will emit a strange chemical once fallen to alert their hive, i hope the universe will be just as kind when my time comes and allow my body to release a harmless fume so that nearby flowers know it’s safe to bloom
age 16: the world isn't worth living in

So I'm of the belief that one of the finest things in life is a well loved book. A book with yellowed pages and a weathered spine, clear water/tea/coffee damage... That comes with time.
Usually you have to get those books firsthand and weather them down to that point yourself, or possibly find it at a library sale or a garage sale.
But occasionally. Occasionally someone will see you reading a book and say "I have something for you" before handing you something so rare, so important.
A book. A book with bent corners and crinkled pages from getting wet one too many times. A book that has creases in the spine and the cover from where its been bent over and over again.
That kind of book is special. The kind of book that has been loved and been passed along with intention, not just happenstance, a knowledge that the one being gifted it will love it just as much.
Those kinds of books mean something.
Hey Wolfy,
guess what I found at work today.
I'd like to know who thought this cookie cutter to be good idea, like, what was the thought process behind it?
God forbid I want to eat a cookie in the shape of Jesus on the cross
hate solas or not romance him or not whatever like. i dont understand how he doesnt drive everyone CRAZY as a character.
like. have you ever just sat and thought about. what it must be like. the trauma. the shakespearean sadness of being the only person that remembers DEATH not being a thing.
and you feel so insane because youre going around telling people “no you dont understand the world as it exists now is fucking horrible people used to not DIE.” and theyre like “its fine as it is just let it be and let us live and die as we are”, desperate for you to acknowledge their personhood. Meanwhile your entire race is the victim of genocide and slavery and cultural erasure, what little magic remains in the world is shunned and mages are systematically imprisoned for being fucking born and people die of old age and its because of you. and now its your cross to bear to atone for ALL of that and justify to people that the world could be better but no one else knows anything different so they dont get it and just know they dont want to die.
And so the only way you can cope with the trauma of that is by treating the world and everyone in it like it’s a bad dream.
Its just so existential. It’s like what if you could talk to God and ask him why he made the world but he was just some vaguely pathetic dude and his answer was “it was a mistake and i regret it every day”.
Work reviews are so fun, it's all "your skills are all really good, you're progressing really fast, good work." And then they get to the attitude part and, "you have good days and bad days... When you have bad days you tend to be a bit coarse and cold. We have to fight a bit to get you to take direction, you need to understand that you aren't in trouble if you need help with something." Somehow, that all ends up knocking you on your ass faster than any therapy session has, and wow! I do, in fact, worry that everyone is mad when I don't know something! My ADHD and all the heavy hormonal fluctuations that come with it, is in fact a disability that I should get help with!
And then you almost cry in front of you manager and it isn't cool.
i think tim would take bernard to a fancy event, and they would sneak out somewhere private within 5 minutes. (inprnt)
Marvel movies have completely eliminated the concept of practical effects from the movie-watching public’s consciousness
