I Really Don’t Like How Society Demonizes Crying. You’re Seen As Weak Or Manipulative If You Shed

I really don’t like how society demonizes crying. You’re seen as weak or manipulative if you shed any tears at all about anything. People look down upon you if you cry, or think you’re “faking for attention.” Even in the media, a character learning not to cry is considered good character development, and a character who does frequently cry is portrayed as weak or cowardly.

The truth is, crying is one of the healthiest coping mechanisms humans have for stress. It’s been scientifically proven that the chemical composition of emotional tears (compared to basal and irritant tears) purges stress hormones from the body and produces a relaxing effect at a biological level. It’s also nonviolent (more than can be said for the more socially acceptable anger response). Humans evolved to cry for a reason.

If one isn’t allowed to cry (if they would be shamed/abused for it), the stress hormones will build up and cause illness later on. They will have to force themselves to cry because their first instinct will be to repress the tears. They wouldn’t be able to cry in front of people anymore, either.

Go ahead and cry if you need to, for whatever reason. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.

My mother didn’t believe me when I said the reason her phone keeps displaying ads for dog car harnesses is because it eavesdrops on her spoken conversations.

“Watch this,” I said. “I want to buy a wetsuit. I need a wetsuit. Where can I get a wetsuit? Bring me a wetsuit. Wetsuit size small. Women’s wetsuits. Wetsuits for children. Wetsuits for dogs. Discount wetsuits. Hot single wetsuits in my area? Sexy wetsuits. Wetsuits for sale. Purchase me a wetsuit. We need to get a wetsuit. Spend money on a wetsuit! I want to get a wetsuit. Where did you get that wetsuit?”

Her phone is now advertising wetsuits.

GENERAL RULES OF A PROTEST:

1. Don't wear contacts.

2. If you get tear gassed, when you get home, put the contaminated clothes in a plastic bag for later decontamination and shower with cold water to avoid opening your pores.

3. Come with friends and don't get separated.

Avoid leaving the crowd and watch out for police snatch squads.

4. Beware undercovers, but beware snitch jacketing and collaborator 'peace police' even more.

5. The far right is very good at combing through pictures and doxxing people. Mask up. Also its covid and with mace and pepper spray bring extra..once its hit with those itll suffocate you and be rendered useless.

6. Write any necessary phone numbers you may need directly on your skin in sharpie.

7. Have an offsite plan for emergencies if you have not been heard from by X time coordinated with someone offsite.

8. Make sure all mobile devices are charged!!

9. If you plan on going to jail, plan it: bail, lawyer, time off from work, witnesses i.e.: a cadre. Don't just go to jail without training.

10. Beware folks inciting violence. Most of them are police feds. Watch out for hook ups for the same reason. Get to know the crowd. They will set you up.

+ Deactivate "touch id" on your iPhone -- they cannot legally force you to open your locked phone via your passcode.

in light of the absolutely horrific news about Ma’Khia Bryant’s death at the hands of the Columbus PD i just wanted to take a moment to link Loveland, a nonprofit that provides therapy to black girls and women if people are looking for support or people are looking for somewhere to support right now

there needs to be so much more legislation when it comes to advertising, especially mobile adverts which are 99% lies and often predatory.

I Cannot Imagine What The Actual Legal Argument Is For Slapping A Felony On A Trans Healthcare Provider,

I cannot imagine what the actual legal argument is for slapping a felony on a trans healthcare provider, ESPECIALLY when they’re consulting patients that are OVER the legal age of 18.

The state wants to control everyone’s bodies. Smash the state.
