- revision guides, revision guides REVISION GUIDES! did i mention revision guides? trust me on this, i was failing science recently and my brother gave me a bunch of his old revision guides since he’s off to uni and they help sooo much. ask your teachers about material in your subjects, flag it down in your revision books (i do this with those lil neon sticky notes) and study, study, study (reblogged a post or two on learning material for those who may need it - indirect recommendation from stalking my friend @mohkomx) revise, rinse and repeat (make sure to takes breaks inbetween!) - going hand in hand with revision guides, studying from books, it reduces screentime and is just better for your eyes mind and health in general (plus i find i remember way more from books then from reading from my laptop?) - music in the background, best to use plain stuff like lofi since i tend to find stuff with lyrics distracting (i listen to lofi livestreams on youtube) or plain piano - here’s my favourite list of songs!. if you’re from a noisy household like me, invest a pair of noise blocking headphones but don’t blast music, keep it at a medium-low sound level -last but not least, notes are key, minimalist, highlighter-freak, whatever you are make sure you take proper notes and keep them neat. imagine you’re taking them for someone who’s life rests on your very nice note-taking shoulders. reading back on them really does help. til next time! maybe one more cropped excerpt on tumblr will fix me
my mom says she’s not a hugger. but when i put my arms around her on a gloomy day or after bad news she’s the last to let go. my dad says he doesn’t want gifts on his birthday, but i see the way his face lights up when i get him a card with a nice message and a box full of chocolate anyway. he’s just a kid inside, still. it makes him giddy. my brother never says i love you. but when i tell him “i just need to finish the dishes before i vacuum!” he wordlessly goes to vacuum the entire house before i can, and if he sees me struggle with a wrapper or a jar or a bottle he mutters ‘c’mere’ and opens it for me without even sparing me a glance. the thing is, people love you quietly, and you love them quietly, and the air is buzzing with tiny but grand gestures & once you look for them, you find them everywhere. i think that’s really beautiful.
All the bad hoes STILL on tumblr.
1. stand in the middle of a lake staring at the way the moonlight reflects off the blood on your hands
2. start using words with more syllables because it sounds smarter and you need everyone to know how smart you are so they won’t know you bribed your way into the gentleman’s club
3. cover your chin with a black scarf so people can’t see the scar you got from turning the pages of the encyclopaedia too quickly
4. clutter your room with things that you bought from old charity shops, so you can watch them collect dust (and so you won’t have to look at that mysterious red stain on the floor)
5. buy a coffin to sleep in (you can find one secondhand if it’s too expensive - don’t worry, that just adds to the mystique).
6. string balls of cosy yarn across the floor, lest any intruders come. this way, you can catch them easily.
7. spell your name wrong to prevent identity theft
8. cut all your hair off in an attempt to become someone else and then send the locks to your neighbours (don’t provide context)
9. dig yourself a grave four feet to the left of the nearest skyscraper
10. don’t look behind your shoulder or you’ll see her. donna.
how did i end up non stop smiling over stupid crushing quotes on pinterest and ended up with a private board, with over a hundred pins and almost every single one mentions something about his eyes or laugh or smile.
hey quick note, so the device I usually use for most of my school work and work related stuff has had a new smoothwall extension installed blocking almost everything I can think of from, socials to movies, including tumblr (currently typing on my really horrible phone) so things are gonna be on hold for a while. its created a ton of problems not only for personal use (as its my main device since this phone is barely usable) but for schoolwork especially media where watching TV shows and movies, and looking at games is my schoolwork. until this issue is fixed I'm afraid I won't be posting, I don't know if this will be fixed in a week or months from now but I'll try and get back to you soon -Amina
so i’ve just started putting in effort to make all my notes in all subjects neat and have figured out the following things: - writing scrawled across notebook pages are aesthetic too - its not just for the aesthetic it actually really helps in studying too and most importantly you don’t need expensive stationary honestly anything will do. for the dark academics and studyblrs who aren’t able to afford muji pens and stabilo highlighters here are a few tips - a pen and a ruler (and maybe a single colored pen and/or highlighter) will be more than enough - be creative with what you already have ( writing your title and subheadings differently with a lil effort or a cloud bubble round a key fact can make all the difference believe it or not) if you really really want pastels and such here’s some dupes highlighters: https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-chunky-pastel-highlighter-4-pack/p/0481344
https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-slim-highlighters-pastel-4-pack/p/0481346 https://www.therange.co.uk/stationery/pens-and-pencils/pens/highlighters/pack-of-six-pastel-highlighters/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjtfZ3IC25gIVx7HtCh1uoQOUEAQYCSABEgJAOfD_BwE#203958 pens: i honestly think any good pen will do (when i say good i mean a pen that doesn’t smudge and runs relatively smooth ) so basically any ballpoint pen but if ya really wanna know then these are the ones i’ve been using lately https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/paper-mate-inkjoy-black-ballpoint-pens-8-pack/p/0432408 not the exact ones but as close as i could find i hope you found this post helpful! ~til next time Amimi

i really dislike it when people don’t understand perfectionism.
like, it isn’t always “person who has tons of motivation and spends a ton of time making this thing *just* right”
wayyyyyy more often than not it’s:
”I know that if I try to make this thing, it won’t be perfect, so I simply won’t try.”
which definitely sounds bad, right? but when you realize that it doesn’t just apply to voluntarily making art, then you realize how perfectionism is not at all a good thing in any context.
“i know that if I try to work on this assignment right now, it won’t be good enough, so i’ll wait until the last possible moment so that I have something forcing me to do it.”
”i know that I should start going to the gym, but I won’t see any improvement right away, so I just won’t.”
”i know that i should brush my teeth tonight, but that won’t be good enough to undo the fact that i haven’t brushed them 4 days in a row, so I just won’t.”
perfectionism isn’t the uncontrollable impulse to make things “just right”. (although it can occasionally manifest as this.)
perfectionism is the absolute, psychological inability to accept the concepts of “good enough” and “better than nothing”. even when you spell it out for yourself in a long text post like this.
