I think it's really funny how Clive Handforth and Larry Pokémon were both designed to be the most boring and painstakingly normal guys around, but each game's respective community immediately fell in love with the character. They are both the kind of people to go "look kid, I'd love to help you save the world, but I really gotta file taxes" if you catch them at a certain time.

Round 1 Match 7: Clive Handforth VS. Wambus Troubleham

Clive Handforth, the founder and owner of The Factory of a Better Tomorrow. He is extremely depressed and gloomy, always assuming the worst. This is intensified after a giant fucking sentient vacuum demon lays waste to his factory, sucking up its creativity and holding all of his worker robots captive. After that, he is found pathetically hiding in a can, singing about being a little man in a can. Even after saving his factory, he is always very pessimistic about nearly every step of the journey as he travels with the rest of the alliance, until the very end when he is given his first shot at bravery, which perks him up a little. 

Wambus Troubleham, a simple, hardworking farmer with a strong sense of responsibility, who’s stubborn and short tempered. Usually pretty tough and likely to stick to his guns, and very willing to throw the sauce plants he grows at other people. Has a smooth, deep, cowboy-esc voice. However, he’s also oddly pathetic at times. His main plot involves constantly attempting and failing to figure out how to grow more of the creatures known as bugsnax, thinking they can be grown in the ground, quickly gets desperate and frustrated as time goes on. He also starts the game off with some serious marital problems, his wife leaving to another part of snacktooth island after a rough patch involving a disagreement between them. He ends up missing her so much he makes a cactus facsimile of her.
