Danny, several decades after his wife passed away from old age and holed up himself in the Infinite Realms and allowed time to become funky around his lair, became an ancient. Until then he classified as a gatekeeper, banshee and balance personified. Now he was ancient of space and balance.

Unfortunately for existence as a whole Danny gets lonely so he decides to have a kid the ghost way. And to prevent him from being a clone, the kid becomes a chaos lord.

Then he chose the name Klarion for himself. Growing up with ghosts made different kinds of fights have a different kinds of meanings. Magic fight means he is serious about defeating you and sees you as an enemy. A fist fight means that he is being friendly and doesn't care who wins. Stabbing means that he is flirting. And he is always expecting the same things. Always.

So imagine Klarion's reaction when Damian tries to stab him.

Damian's new classmate was what most people would deem as strange, Damian however could not see him as anything other than suspicious. Daniel Knight had joined in the midst of the school year, claiming to have moved here with his father Fredric Knight (first area of suspicion, a parent willingly moving both them and their child to Gotham) for a new start following his fathers divorce. The boy was reclusive when not spoken to directly, however he would not stop talking when a topic of his interest would come up. After searching further into his past (as he does with all his classmates) Damian found a relatively normal past, the only outstanding things being a noticeable drop in grades at the beginnings of freshman year relating to an undisclosed accident resulting in lichtenberg scarring starting from Daniels palm, and presumably up his arm being hidden by his sleeve. Apparently this accident left Daniel with irregular tremors and, every once in a blue moon, seizures. Damian had thought about taking this suspicious blockage of information to Tim or the Bat Computer to be bypassed, however the idea of sharing Daniel this cases existence with the rest of his family for some unexplained reason bothered him greatly, so Damian has come to the decision to figure out Knight’s true intentions on his own.

Meanwhile Danny’s just trying to live his new, semi-normal life in peace. After a reveal gone wrong results in some good old vivisection, Jazz Sam and Tucker recruit the help of Clockwork to find Danny a new home, where he can heal from both the physical and mental wounds. Clockwork ends up dumping Danny into the DC universe alongside Fright Knight, who was insistent on going with him, feeling responsible in helping to protect his young prince now since he feels he failed the first time. So with a bit of spacetime razzle dazzle, Tucker messing with stuff he probably shouldn't have messed with and a very tearful goodbye with promises to check in every day, Danny goes off to start his new life as Daniel Knight. It was going ok so far, he took half the year to himself, focusing on healing. Also so Frighty could adjust to the whole pretending to be human thing. Danny doesn't have any friends yet, and to be honest hasn't made the effort to make any (Jazz would be disappointed if she knew that), but there's this one boy in Danny's class who might be even weirder than him. Danny can feel Damian's eyes on him, knows how he follows him around without a sound (Danny really shouldn't be able to tell, he only knows because he isn't fully human(and in a weird way, Danny thinks that's kinda cool)), and whenever they do make eye contact Danny can see and feel the boy fluster and shy away.

Maybe he just needs a friend too.

Dani Phantom helps the justice league and makes an offhand comment of being a clone and now everyone's trying to figure out who of.

Superman is convinced beyond doubt that lex made another clone of him with some other super's DNA, this is made even more convincing to him because she talks about vlad as 'that one weirdo billionaire who made me'

Green Arrow thinks she's made of Captain Marvel. It started as a way to be goofy, but then she unleashed Lightning and he correlated that to the symbol on Marvel's chest.

Batman's more than a little concerned about the fact that it could be one of his brood purely because the Al Ghuls are fucking insane and he wouldn't put it past them.

When they all eventually confront Dani about it, trying to figure put if she's a clone of one of them, she just full on fucking laughs at them and calls Danny. Danny shows up and introduces himself to the Justice League and settles it.

Cass is out on patrol and sees Polka Dot Man trying to rob a Dollar General. After she shoos him away, she wanders down an aisle and soon finds the most absurd item in the store.

Cass, in full costume, approaching the cashier: How much?

Paul the Cashier, a fifty year old man who has been working night shifts in Gotham for over thirty years: Just take it. Christ.

Later that week:

Tim, stepping into the shower, sees this peeking out at him from behind his shampoo:

Tim, texting Cass: Did you give me a Rainbow Batman?

Jason, returning to his safe house after a long night, opens the fridge and sees Rainbow Batman standing knee-deep in his potato salad.

Tim, texting him seconds later: Pass along Rainbow Batman for good luck.

Over the next few months, Rainbow Batman circulates its way around most of the Bat-team. It bounces from Jason to Dick to Damian to Steph. Eventually it gets to Duke, who is tasked with presenting it to Bruce. He waits until Bruce is in a decent mood, then puts it on the driver’s seat of the Batmobile one night as they are all wrapping up a case.

Bruce, opening the Batmobile door: —thank you for your help, Dick. I know you’ve been busy. And Duke, I appreciate you altering your schedule for us. Steph, your intel was excellent. I’m very pleased with the outcome of this mission. You all managed to keep the insubordination at a tolerable level.
