Sid has a superstition about not wearing/using other player's gear. He's never done it when it was his choice, only when it was a team thing like when all the Penguins wore Malkin and Jágr jerseys during warmups. But even then, it wasn't actually other player's gear. Their equipment manager(s) used brand new jerseys that had never been worn to make jerseys for the team.

But during the All-Star weekend in Toronto, this man wore Nate's hoodie with that 29 right there on his chest like it was a badge of honor. He stood in that post-game interview smiling and looking all cozy, like this is something he just does every single day. NBD.

And Nate had worn it several times that weekend.

I'm not sure if Sid has any superstitions about players touching any of his gear except his sticks, but he had Nate touching all over his gear at 4N.

Because of that arm injury he was dealing with that almost prevented him from going in the first place, he was struggling to get his jersey and his pads to sit comfortably. He couldn't bring his arm up to do it himself, so he needed help.

In comes Nate, shoving his hands all down Sid's jersey and tugging on those chest pads Sid has had since he played in Rimouski. 👀

Which is even more interesting when you realize that Nate wasn't Sid's stall neighbor. He was sitting two stalls down from Sid, while Point and McDavid were Sid's neighbors on either side of him.

So, either Sid asked Nate because Nate is the exception to a lot of Sid's rules, or Nate was just helping him because he was already finished getting himself dressed. Either way, Nate was the one with his hand all down Sid's jersey. 👀
