braving the horrors i'm gonna go to school for the last period of the day! who's proud of me

oh so ur telling it's been Them since the start. it's been misty and nat the day misty took off her mask in the pilot and pushed her broken glasses up on her face and smiled. not bc she found power in the hunt or pleasure in the kill, the way we were meant to believe all the way back in s1, but bc she was able to help nat get away w the radio and find rescue. this is where the unwavering devotion starts. its like. nat is crowned leader in s2. misty kneels. nat punches misty when she finds out abt the transponder (and keeps the secret for 25 years) and in the wake of it? misty still fucking kneels. i feel insane.

yellowjackets season 2 & 3 spoilers (theory)

walter killed lottie. this is not 100% confirmed, obviously, but i feel like after the scene with misty at his house in ep 9, it's the most plausible theory.

so, here's why i think he did it.

after nat died, we all saw how dependent misty was on walter. my theory is that after misty started being independent again (well, the misty version of independent), walter missed that and decided that the only way for the 'problem' to be 'fixed' was for him to kill another one of the yellowjackets and entice misty into the mystery aspect of the murder, OR, have her so upset by lotties death that she would fall back into the needing him.

I’ve been struggling to articulate this for the past few episodes but I think it’s fascinating how everyone interpreted the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote, “Of all the ways to lose a person, death is the kindest” as “death spared the dead from the cruelty of the wilderness” because while yes, probably true, that’s not actually what that quote says.

The quote is about the person who is grieving the loss, saying that another person’s death is the kindest method of separation on them, as opposed to something like estrangement. Death, after all, doesn’t come with the torment of possibility, of unanswered questions that could technically still be answered if you swallowed your pride, etc. And well, if the rumors are to be believed, I can see that becoming very relevant over the next three weeks.

If Melissa is alive, and the other Yellowjackets besides Shauna don’t know, it might have been better if she was dead. Because of this extra burden Shauna has had to carry*, because of what Melissa might know or might have done, how she might come back to haunt Shauna, because of what the Yellowjackets might do when they find out.

My Interview With The Vampire followers know that I tend to make predictions based on what makes the most thematic sense, because at the end of the day, this is fiction written by storytellers who want to punch us in the gut. So I’m placing my bets now. Melissa is alive and death would have been kinder.
