Low energy land spirit work
Please note that I would recommend properly greeting land spirits before talking to them, or making offerings to them. If you're intrested in reading about my thoughts and experiences with land spirits, give this previous post a look!
Open the window and let the outside air in. If your window is equipped with a screen against bugs, you can place a drink at the window for a few hours to serve as an offering
Taking a walk around the block, spotting the nearby trees, gardens, flowerbeds, rock formations...
Journal about your personal relationship with local natural spots, indigenous plants, wildlife...
Become interested in local birds! Birds are among the most common types of wildlife to be observed in urban areas, which makes it all the more relevant to do so. Setting up birdhouses also makes for a great offering!
Limit the amount of processed foods in your diet
Read up on plant identification in your area
Engage in artistic activities in order to depict nature! It might seem silly, but it's a good visualization exercise, and any time spent meditating upon the land spirits may be considered devotional. Drawing, painting, writing... no matter your activity of choice!
Reflect on what local issues might affect them, especially concerning environmental protection
Leave a bowl of clear water outside as an offering
Do your part to respect nature: composting, recycling, saving water and the like make perfect devotionals
Talk to them regularly, if only once a week. Spend a moment outside to tell them of your appreciation for their presence and protection
Use natural elements to decorate the house: get flowers when available, pick up the acorns or fallen leaves that strike your fancy...
Why do folks have to spew out what physical nonhumanity means again. What happened. I thought we were all in the same page here. Physical nonhumans who are biologically nonhuman are valid, holotheres are valid, p-shifters are valid, p-nonhumans with delusions are valid... Yada yada yada.
If someone doesn't like it, block 'em! Don't try to water it down for anybody if you don't want to. You don't have to. You don't owe anybody an explanation. Take my paws. You do you. What others have to say in your life and your business and your identity, is their opinion and you can reject it. Simple as that!
Everyday witchy tips
Not everyone has time for daily spells or rituals, here are some witchy acts to incorporate a bit of magic into your day!
Glamour magic while getting ready for the day, while washing your face first thing in the morning imagine washing away all negative thoughts. Draw sigils with sunscreen/daycream/foundation on your face, incorporate color magic (eyeshadow, lipstick, nails). Braid your hair with an intention for the day (being protected against harm, attracting luck etc.)
Color magic while getting dressed; red for confidence and strength, yellow and orange for happiness and energy, green for attracting luck and abundance, blue for focus and communication, pink for (self)love, purple for intuition and wisdom, black for protection, white for purity and protection. Gold jewelry for the sun, succes and prosperity, and silver jewelry for the moon and intuition.
Drinking herbal tea, start the day with a warm cup of tea. This can be made with fresh herbs from the garden, or from tea bags. Stir clockwise with a teaspoon or the teabag it self to put an intention in your tea for the day.
Crystals in pockets, bags, even your bra. Choose an crystal for the day, charge it with it’s intention and carry it with you.
Shielding from negative energies, imagine being surrounded by a white light that protects you. Or have a short mantra that you can say to yourself or in your head when needed, this can be as simple as 'I am protected against negative energies in any shape or from'
Showering, washing any lingering energy, thoughts or negative feelings away from the day. If you have trouble imagining negative energy washing off you in a color, see the soap you are washing off as this energy. Watch it flow away from you into the shower drain.
Fine. Here you have it. The one true rule of witchcraft:
Stop bitching about other people's practices and focus on your own
Hello again! :) I had another question if you don’t mind!
Is it true that our hair color matches fur? Like dark hair = dark fur? Light hair = light fur?
Thanks!!
hello, it's not a problem at all!
I'm not 100% on hair color matching fur color, but it would make sense. I've heard it depends on your DNA, since if you're a shifter with unique pigment genetics (dragon shifters for example. I've heard that they come in all sorts of colors and aren't limited to "natural" colors) your fur/scales/feathers etc would match whatever's been passed down to you through genetics/DNA.
Hi im a baby witch, if you could give witches like me one piece of advice, what would it be?
It's only over when you stop hoping. Hope is one of the strongest, oldest types of magic in human history. It powers you. Hope is the energy source, the other emotions are your guiding light. It was hope that kept me going for twenty years. It was hope for a better future that kept humans pushing forward through wars, plague, and famine. If you lose hope, what's the point, right?
Wolf shifter here 🐾.
Do you have any tips to getting motivation to start shifting again??
hi!
I think something that might help with motivation is going back to the beginning of your journey and why you want to shift in the first place. what are your goals and dreams and what do you want to achieve by shapeshifting? I feel like surrounding yourself with feelings of empowerment and inspiration could help jumpstart motivation and help you get back on track.
also, triggering m-shifts or surrounding yourself with themes or feelings relating to your instincts/species etc could help too. for me, having m-shifts or phantom shifts inspires me to want to p-shift.
if you have stuff like masks, tails, ears, or other things that can make you more wolf-like, it might help to dress in the colors of your wolf side or put things on that makes you look like a wolf. for me when I put on ears or tails I always wish they were physical and when I wear brown clothes (bc my fur is brown) I tend to wish it was my fur, so putting things together to make yourself look like your wolf self might help with motivation to shapeshift so that you CAN have your ears/tail/paws/fangs/fur again.
if anyone else has any other tips, feel free to add on!
Witch Note: You Are the Spell
You don’t always need a candle.
Or a crystal.
Or the right moon phase.
You are the spell.
Your breath, your heartbeat, your intention — that’s ancient magic.
When you cry into your tea, when you hum while cleaning, when you light a candle just because it comforts you… you’re casting.
When you daydream about a better life, a softer one, a wilder one — you’re already calling it in.
Not every spell needs incense and Latin.
Some just need your presence. Your truth. Your spark.
Don’t forget that.
When looking around your yard or local biome for wild plants to harvest for your craft, there are several important things to keep in mind:
1 - Prepare for your trip ahead of time. Have some idea ahead of time where you're going, what the terrain and weather will be like, and what plants you want to look for and harvest. Make sure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and bring containers, supplies for labeling, and a travel-size resource for plant identification. (Pro-tip: Paper lunch bags are excellent receptacles for harvested plants.)
2 - Look for patches of plants well away from roadways and places which might be contaminated by chemical runoff or pesticides. When possible, select a large patch where your harvest won't wipe out the presence of the plant. (The exception to this is if you are removing invasive plants or weeding a prepared garden as part of your harvesting.)
3 - Make sure you properly identify plants before you harvest them, using a field guide for local plants or an identification app like Plantnet. This helps you avoid potentially harmful lookalikes. (And it couldn't hurt to look up what harmful plants exist in the area where you'll be looking.) Do not harvest endangered plants or plants growing on private property or in national parks. When in doubt, leave it alone.
4 - Take a modest amount of plant material for your stores, no more than you reasonably need, while disturbing the surrounding area as little as possible. Clearly label the container with the species and date of harvest. (Again, I'm recommending those paper lunch bags.) As an added courtesy, you can bring a bottle of water and hydrate the remaining plants to encourage regrowth.
5 - Clean and dry your plant material when you get home, if necessary. Just give them a quick rinse and gentle pat-dry with a clean kitchen towel before placing the plants into your preferred drying device. One simple solution is to cut the flaps off of wide, shallow cardboard shipping boxes and lay out the plant material in a flat layer so that most of it is touching the cardboard. (As opposed to leaving it in a big heap.) Label the sections or the side of the tray and leave your plants to dry.
6 - If you're not using an oven or a dehydrator, allow plant material to dry for at LEAST two or three weeks before breaking it up for storage in airtight jars or freezer bags. Make sure the plants are dry and brittle all the way through to avoid rot and mold in your storage containers and spoilage of the contents. Label and date the containers and store at room temperature out of direct sunlight. (If you discover mold or a bad smell in any of your containers, discard the contents and either throw away the container or sterilize it for reuse - this generally only works for glass jars.)
7 - Check back periodically! Give your wild plant patches time to regrow and you can then make additional small harvests on future visits. Also, look for different plants to emerge as the seasons change.
Familiarizing yourself with your local biome allows you to connect with the land where you live (and encourages you to care about it in the process). Also, it can garner you components for your workings for the cost of a few bags and an afternoon stroll.
But wait! What if your local wild weeds don't have magical correspondences? Not to worry - there's an exercise for that.
Good luck and Happy Witching! 🌿
