Photographed above are the known members of the infamous Manson family cult. The cult members, under the leaderships of Charles Manson, committed the gruesome murders of nine people, including a pregnant woman.
Charles Manson was the leader of the Manson family cult.
Manson was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of nine people.
Charles Manson’s was born to 16 year old Kathleen Maddox. Kathleen was a prostitute and an alcoholic.
Manson had a loveless childhood, his mother once tried to sell him for a pitcher of beer.
Manson was in and out of jail and psychiatric facilities most of his life.
Manson was passionate about music. Taking inspiration from the popular music groups during the 1970′s.
Charles Manson recorded several albums of music, most of which can be found on youtube.
Manson has been described as a master manipulator. As having the ability to play to a person’s weaknesses to get what he wants.
The Manson family cult was a commune founded in San Fransisco by Charles Manson in the late 1960s.
Manson started the cult after being released from prison.
The cult consisted of approximately 100 members, many of which were young women.
The Manson family would regularly use hallucinogens, creating music that Charles Manson would record.
Charles Manson claimed that he was the manifestation of Jesus and that he had prophecies of the race war.
Manson’s followers would blindly follow every word he said. The Manson family would follow Manson’s orders without question.
Manson took great influence from the Beatles. Claiming their album “the white album” was all written in code. Referencing the impeding race war. He claimed that the album was directed at the family.
The Manson family was preparing for the impending apocalypse that their leader kept talking about.
Bernard Crowe, a drug dealer that the Manson family had robbed, threatened to subsequently wipe out the cult.
Charles Manson responded to the threat by showing up at Crowe’s apartment and shooting him in the stomach.
Crowe never reported the shooting, not wanting to get law enforcement involved in his life.
Gary Hinman, a music teacher and student at UCLA, was tortured and then fatally shot and stabbed to death by members of the Manson family.
Charles Manson thought Hinman was wealthy, and ordered several of his followers to take Hinman hostage.
After Charles Manson, Susan Atkins, Bobby Beausoleil and Mary Brunner tortured Hinman for two days, Beausoleil stabbed Hinman to death, under Manson’s instruction.
Manson directed Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian, Patricia Krenwinkel and Charles Watson to go to the residence of actress Sharon Tate, and kill anyone there.
Upon arrival, Atkins, Krenwinkel and Watson brutally murdered Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger, Steven Parent, Wojciech Frykowski and 8 month pregnant Sharon Tate and her unborn child.
The next night, Charles Manson, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian, Patricia Krenwinkel, Charles Watson, Leslie Van Houten and Steve Grogen went to the home of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca to kill the couple.
Watson, Van Houten and Krenwinkel stabbed the LaBianca’s to death.
The LaBianca’s were stabbed a total of 53 times, in the gruesome murder by the Manson family.
Charles Manson was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and first degree murder charges.
Manson was found guilty for seven counts of first degree murder and was subsequently sentenced to death.
Before Manson could be put to death, California got rid of the death penalty, changing Manson’s sentence to life in prison without the chance of parole.
Several others in the Manson family cult were also charged with various crimes. Some members were convicted of petty crimes, others were convicted of first degree murder.
Valentine Michael Manson was born in April 1968 to Mary Brunner and Charles Manson.
Mary Brunner was the first member of the Manson family cult, whom Manson had his third child with.
Valentine now lives a quiet life after being in the custody of his maternal grandparents for the majority of his childhood.
Charles Manson Jr. was born in 1955 to Rosalie Jean Willis and Charles Manson.
Rosalie Jean Willis was Manson’s first wife, who Manson had his first child with.
Charles Manson Jr. was raised by his mother Rosalie and his step father, taking his step father’s last name, becoming Jay White.
Haunted by the Manson murders and feeling he could not escape his father’s legacy, White committed suicide by a gunshot through the head in 1993.
Charles Luther Manson was born in 1959 to Leona Stevens and Charles Manson.
Leona Stevens, Manson’s second wife with whom Manson had his second son.
Charles later changed his name to Jay Charles Warner.
Warner lives a private life, his whereabouts are unknown.
Charles Manson died November 19th, 2017 of a heart attack. Many of his surviving followers are still imprisoned to this day. Though Manson himself is no longer alive, he will forever leave behind a horrific legacy of the death and destruction that follows him.
