also yeah if you live in a reasonably sized city i can’t recommend enough checking out the local art scene as much as you can. go to see small time local bands and and galleries and art walks. find a bar where they do really cool niche stuff and you can have an entire conversation with the bartender about different varieties of gin. go see a weird avant-garde play put on by a university theatre department. in the face of a society that commodifies art in a way that feels increasingly soulless it can be so refreshing to get out there and interact with people who are doing it out of passion
[image id: four sets of color palettes. the first image reads "palettes! part 1" and the rest list miscellaneous names for each palette in alphabetical order. all text is black, and all palettes are outlined in white against a grey background. /end id]
i found an old technique for generating color palettes ages ago and made more than i knew what to do with. may as well share them! since they're easy to make, i'll inevitably do more, so look out for parts 2+. the names mean very little don't think about it too hard

When John and Arthur are in their 57th fight in the episode
anyone whos been an artist before with artblock knows what its like whenever wizards lose their magic in stories like physically i know it looks like im just sitting here staring angry at a sheet of paper but in the spiritual sense i am pointing a wand that is fizzling and cracking in a very dangerous manner only for it to make a pathetic woopie cushion sound and then go limp
All of the modern takes on Dracula really make me wish they would make a mostly true to book adaptation that is a horror comedy, with things like Dracula having sudden costume changes while pretending to be his own staff, trying to knock the crucifix off the wheel in order to steer the ship, and the people of Whitby chasing him around as a dog. Just all the collective hot takes on what's going on with this story that make us, the modern readers, laugh, presented in a glorious cinema quality film.
I hope everyone realizes now that Dracula literally cannot steer the ship. The captain tied himself to the helm and a crucifix (he alluded to this earlier in one of his logs) and thus Dracula can't touch it.
Additionally Dracula's powers weaken during the day (iirc he can be in sunlight but his powers don't work) so he has to steer the ship via weather at night.
The man has been buffeting the ship with wind to get to England.
Maurice: I have shared with Alec
Clive, AN INTELLECTUAL: Shared what?
(I mean, I don't know Clive, maybe his toothpaste? His disappointment in you? Who knows Clive who knows🤡)
(But what we do know is that the D in Durham stands for Dumbass)
Social anxiety fucking sucks. I’m 23 and I’ve never been in a relationship before because I’m afraid of talking to people or even just going out alone. I’ve seriously considered suicide before because of that (usually at night tho. I probably shouldn’t be allowed to be awake past 9pm)

I love getting overly attached to characters who are just so lame. Like, Jonathan Jarchivist Sims does have attributes that are theoretically very cool (he became god, he could kill people with his mind and all that) but the scenes that have me grinning and twirling my hair are always, like. Jon sitting at his desk and bitterly muttering about how his coworkers stole his pens.
