Too many writers are using generative 'AI' to make their book covers, so I've written a guide on how to make your own cover for free or cheap without turning to a machine.
If you can't afford to pay an artist, you CAN make your own!
I hope this is a helpful overview that covers the basics and points to some free resources.

Wasn't Feeling particularly inspired to draw a whole finished illustration so I settled on a doing a bunch of sketches and as one thing led to another, it became a whole study.
Suprisingly: It actually did refresh and inspire me cause now I wanna test this new skill some more!!
Key take-away!! Not only are art studies good in general for learning but can be a good way to refresh and inspire yourself!! Even if it isn't your usual style.
shout out to @adorkastock 's HUGGE repitoir of poses as they were used for the "Reference practice: From Non-Anime reference photos" section as I practiced drawing something not from Pokémon and translated it into Pokémon's art style.
Hey here's a link to a 300+ page dissertation on intersex issues and popular culture from 2016 (the author Viola Amato passed away in 2017 - don't let her work be lost!)
The author cites bell hooks, Judith Butler, and a lot of intersex names I recognize. She talks about intermisogyny and the "AIS supermodel scare" of the mid-2000s, and breaks down how every aspect of American pop culture is designed to destroy intersex people.
PDF is open access and free to all.

I loved seeing intermisogyny being discussed in 2016 when nowadays if we say intermisogyny we are somehow stealing struggles from people.... intermisogyny has been a thing forever. Watch the House ep Skin Deep or read the entire chapter this author has on four different medical dramas that set intersex women up as trickster predators btwww
It has been literal years since I've done a tutorial.
Nobody actually asked for this, but for the first picture I did with this type of lighting I actually went and looked up some tutorials online... and couldn't really find any. So a lot of what I did in the first picture I used this type of light was me just throwing spaghetti at the wall.
I figured it out a little more in the second picture, and then I thought: y'know i would've liked to have a tutorial like this in the first place to get a good starting point for myself. So I made one. it is yours now. do what you want with it.

"He stood tied to the rock, and none of his enemies were brave enough to approach, and make sure he was dead. At the end of three days, the Morrigan took the shape of a raven, and perched on his shoulder, and when he did not move, they knew it was safe."
In which Dark visits the past, and the past returns the favor.
Accompanying fic posted on AO3.
It's the first time I created a fully rendered art with winged Dark, and it was really, really fun! 🥹 This was a Valentine gift for @curruidcoinhenn for a Secret Valentine event that @keikotwins organized. It was a pleasure to draw and write about this dude.
I just post whatever I want, usually. Mostly rambles or reblogs.Artwork TagHeader taken from this video
