People who think that Hawks for all those years liked just an idealized fantasy of Endeavor he built in his head really missed how that guy was always leaning towards "gray" types in general. He "never was a fan" of without fear and reproach All Might, while the people he openly admired included Twice (a criminal), Nagant (also a criminal) and obviously Endeavor (a guy who even without all the family fiasco was famous to be difficult and unapproachable). Maybe the idealization thing could be true when he was a child, but growing up he became more self aware and evidently decided he had a "type", lol. It's pretty clear Hawks deep down thinks himself "dirty" and he feels sympathy for characters who are flawed but refused their fate and fought against it.

I'm very fond of the way Yoco Akiyama (Hori's assistant and the mangaka of Team Up) draws Hawks, especially the painterly style (she seems to really like drawing him). Her Keigo comes off as smaller, more compact, very much seems like he'd be a student if not for the facial hair. He's got a cherubic face, more so than Hori's and there's a cute slyness to it. Horikoshi's Hawks's eyes are a bit over the place with the shape changing but she tends to accentuate them being angular (triangles more than anything) and likes elongating them to be narrower. Manga-wise, he also has lashes when she draws him though they blend into his eyemarks and look like an extra point. Her drawing of him "japanese-style" (as Japanese twitter users pointed out) with a ho-oh is really beautiful too. He just comes off both youthful and mischievous when she draws him.

She really likes drawing his feathers too.

Though there are others that are a bit more pensive and somber, though, again, framed by his wings.

crazy how hawks meets a guy who's a lot like him and that guy burns his back really badly and almost kills him but he just brushes it off like it doesn't get followed up. i just know hawks dreams of that encounter every night for a couple of weeks

i love *throws up* that whenever hawks speaks about endeavor in a professional setting, we get childhood flashbacks and see that damn endeavor plushie, hawks might be the president now and make big choice that will alter people's lives, but he makes those decisions with a juvenile heart that can't let go of his love for a questionable man lol

on one hand it's realistic, not everyone can let go of that, but it's presented as something good when it really isn't. hawks is so chained to his childhood trauma he can't do shit without thinking of endeavor's well-being it's so sick. at least he knows that dabi knows that i hope he feels slighlty ashamed that he can't get over endeavor when even dabi and shoto could let go...... EMBARRASSING!!!!!!

and i already said it in my dabihawks post, but hawks and shoto also parallel each other! like hawks' life and relationship to his quirk is also shaped by endeavor but while shoto learns that he has to let go of that, hawks sticks to it and it's not even framed as an issue he still needs to face
