I've Seen Some People On Twitter Say They Think This Ending Has Rewritten Hawks' Persona To Be His True

I've seen some people on Twitter say they think this ending has rewritten Hawks' persona to be his true personality and was wondering what you thought about that? I've always had mixed feelings about people dismissing a lot of his behaviour as being fake/persona since I feel it's a little more complicated than just being the polar opposite of the hero Hawks

Keigo is indeed too traumatized and complicated to have a simple "real" and "fake" personality. There's layers. I think he's always had the kind of charisma to be able to do what he's doing (SPC prez). And he even questions if he has time to kill in his last panel, but it feels very tongue-in-cheek.

My view has always been that happy/optimist/charismatic Hawks might not be "real internal" of Keigo's personality, but they were what he aspires to hence why he tends to wear that persona. And I don't think that's fake.

Maybe I'm coming from the standpoint of someone with a personality disorder where we change our personalities, but I strongly believe what we want to be and try to be is part of our personalities, too.

But Hawks has always lived with what seems to be a sheet of glass between the people around him and himself. Too many lies and misdirection to be real. The League, in comparison, are raw, gaping wounds in the open. Everyone can see the hurts because they wear them on their sleeves as badges of honor. There’s no hiding who they are or their real natures. And that’s why he suspects the connections are deep as they are. It’s something Hawks can’t really replicate. Which poses a problem, of course. If the early bird gets the worm, then Hawks needs to sow seeds of doubt and discord between Jin and them now, not later, if he wants to keep him.
