So then the implication here is that the secret garden Taylor metaphorically escapes to is imagined as a.... garden full of Sunflowers? To also add a bit to the beginnings: As a fashion fan, many have to realize that Karlie was considered a “high fashion” model which is different from commercial/editorial work. She was extremely busy it just regular fashion weeks but she did couture fashion. She was always overseas double time because of couture fashion shows. Spent a huge amount of time in London/Paris then would take the train to Italy. I remember as part of high fashion group they’d do shoots in Tokyo and Japan. She also did I think 2 seasons of shows for Mercedes Fashion week where you were in various shows around Germany. Just like now she’d be in the Bridal shows. She did those for Oscar de LaRenta. Back then the models hardly had anytime even for holidays because of couture. She modeled year round and lets not forget Cannes that had regular/couture. So I think that not only age but she was in high demand from fashion houses and traveled extensively. Taylor would’ve had to be at a majority of events to even get a chance to see her and Karlie was known for walking the most shows in a season. Even as an angel she didn’t just do the fashion shows but she did events at stores, parties, etc for VS. That’s what an actual angel does. It’s more than VS shows you have to open their stores or do store/reg events for them outside the shows. So many misunderstand that about karlie….she was in another realm of modeling that not many ever get too. I think as karlie got older she was able to manage her schedule better. I think Taylor spending times/moving to NY helped. Karlie also became more selective on shows. Plus I remember stories about her constantly on phone right up to time to walk but she could do it because she was a queen.

I just roll my eyes when I read this kind of crap in my inbox, because these kind of people are not even worth wasting my time with. They don't know the slightest thing about Kar's career in haute couture. If they knew how big Kar's name was when "kaylor met in 2013". How in demand Karlie was by the biggest names in the industry... Especially for a model as young as she was at the time. 🤦🏻‍♀️

You were surgical, with Karlie's extremely busy schedule for most of the year, especially during fashion week season, it must have been a crucial point when the girls first met before 2013 for that they didn't go beyond casual, if they ever got romantically involved at all. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I remember Kar's snapchats were basically airplanes, airports, snacks, backstage at shows and running around with a carry-on bag (I miss the most random and silly posts she made almost daily 😪). There's even a video for Vogue or maybe it's on her channel in 2014 (?) where she shows at least 2 or 3 passports completely filled and almost finished with the current one. Like... WTH?? 😮🫨 The girl was basically a nomad. 🤭 KK probably paid the condo fees so her plants had somewhere to live, because she herself was never home, poor thing. Lol

Taylor has always been at minimum intrigued by Karlie ever since they first met back in April 2008, we know this because just to mention two instances off the top of my head about Taylor's vast knowledge about Karlie's early career, one of Taylor's own looks for herself in the Bad Blood MV was a perfect copy of a look Karlie did in a 2008 photoshoot and during the Rep Tour Taylor also had looks inspired by photoshoots Karlie did at the very beginning of her career. Taylorseriously has hardcore knowledge about Karlie early career that I've only ever seen matched by one of Karlie's hardcore long-time stans that used to run an update account on Tumblr for her a couple of years ago.

Taylor seems to have thought that Karlie was pretty neat and interesting ever since they met each other as teens and maybe even had a little bit of a crush on Karlie since all the way back then, but it seems like they only really interacted with each other in person a couple times a year from 2008 up until like 2011 when Taylor and Karlie became obviously interested in trying to get with each other, which is perfectly fine and sensible since Karlie only came of age in the summer of 2010.

I have nothing against Dianna, but the more music Taylor puts out about how she feels about Karlie and just how long she's had these feelings for Karlie, the more I get the sense that the reason Taylor ever even tried to get serious with Dianna might've been because Taylor thought that her age gap with Dianna was more appropriate than her age gap with Karlie at the time.

I think the age difference and the timing of their actual meeting also played a part, and that's why maybe they started out as something casual. Or just, like you said, a mutual crush, nothing more than friendship.

I think Suburban Legends, which seems to be from Kar's point of view, also touches on this a bit, when she mentions "You'd be more than a chapter in my old diaries with the pages ripped out" and later, when they meet up years later, the part about "I pace down your block I broke my own heart 'cause you were too polite to do it." But I think that last part now refers to Tay's reluctance to involve Kar in all the trouble that she would get into dating the rising pop star TS.
