What HE needs…

Not all things must end & be for her.

Sometimes… HE needs a gentle touch. A caress against HIS brow…to wipe away the day, the stress, the worry.

Sometimes… HE needs the connection, looking into your eyes, knowing that HE was the one that put the glow in them.

Sometimes… HE needs to lay HIS worries, briefly at your feet, knowing that, in your eyes, it does not diminish him in any way.

Sometimes… HE needs your embrace, as silent acknowledgement of all the things HE is to you.

And sometimes… HE needs your submission, to anchor HIM in the world again. A silent tribute to HIS strength & leadership.

Crazy how time flies and changes you.

I joined the British army on September 23rd 2002, passing off from basic training on Friday 13th 2002. Fast forward through a crazy 10 years to 11th December 2012 and my discharge from the army and again through 9 years of upheaval, turmoil and what can only be described as character building, I am still here. Still standing and almost thriving.

It's saddeneningly surprising how easily betrayal wears a friendly smile. You'd think I would have learned this by now, given that I'm 37. FML.

Not a glorification. But a call to remember that the right to protest. The right to strike. The right to follow whatever faith you want, without prejudice. These rights have been defended, and the price is in blood. Aggressors, would be invaders and those who would invite terror and violence, have made that blood be paid by both civilian and military. Don't write off the costly lessons of the past, because you're so far separated by these actions. Remember what it cost, to keep the freedom to live as we do today alive and for the social progresses during and since 1914.
