GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS !!!!!!
This might be a problem later
League of Villains: this is Noumu. He’s gifted with more than one incredibly powerful quirk and is genetically engineered to be one of the strongest creatures in the world, capable of defeating even All Might
Class 1-a: this is our dad Aizawa we love him he’s fast
I feel like a thing I wish was more generally acknowledged across fandoms is that "I don't find this character sympathetic" and "This character was not intended to be sympathetic" are obviously connected but are, ultimately, two completely different statements that may not overlap at all.
Ultimately what you think about any given character is a completely subjective issue that has no right or wrong answer. The narrative may be trying to evoke sympathy for them, and you may just feel that it flat-out was not successful in doing that. You may look the author straight in the eye and say "Nope, I see what you're trying to do, but f*ck this guy actually, he's The Worst and that's all there is to it". And no one can tell you that you're wrong for doing so.
But when it comes to picking up on what the story is trying to do, whether you ultimately think it did a good job or not, I would argue there's at least some measure of objective reality. And I feel like people sometimes end up conflating them, so you end up with these posts like "I can't believe people sympathize with this character when the story clearly just wants you to hate them!" and it's like... yeah, I think people sympathize with this character because the story is very clearly and intentionally painting them as sympathetic. I could point you at a dozen different scenes that are clearly meant to evoke sympathy for This Character. You don't have to have found any of it compelling, but at a certain point recognizing it's there is a simple matter of reading comprehension.
the first rule of shipping is get aromantic with it. the second rule is that gender and sexuality are what i want them to be. the third rule is have fun and be yourself
Credit to @nilla-waifu for this hilarious idea
Let the records state that there is nobody in the BNHA manga who I love more than Fuyumi. This essay is for her, just as much as it is for me, because there’s a lot to be said with her - a lot to understand, a lot to interpret, and a lot to still learn.
Please be aware of the warnings in the tags and as follows: I will be touching on child abuse and neglect, and how growing up in these situations hurts. I will be using my own experience as a baseline to relate. I don’t go into detail a lot of detail, but these are still topics that came up. Arm yourself if you wish to continue.
And here we go.

Okay small rant but
BNHA reboot where Momo Yaoyorozu gets the respect and proper treatment she deserves.
She’s incredibly smart, calculating, innovative but also has very apparent self-worth and anxiety issues. And absolutely none of that implies in the slightest that she’s the sort of person who’d be comfortable in the hero outfit she’s been given. And also, she’s a child.
I know that the in-universe explanation for this is the fact that she pulls the objects she creates out of her body, so she needs as much flesh exposed as possible in order to do that efficiently. But honestly? Bad Quirk OP. Her quirk didn’t need to work like that. Bakugou’s explosions are only in his palms—not like his whole fucking body explodes giving him an in-universe reason to run around in a fucking g-string. Why couldn’t Momo’s quirk just create things from her palms? Her wrists? Frigging—have her create stuff out of the soles of her feet to give her the somewhat inconvenient and hilarious necessity for a hero outfit with no shoes. Don’t force her to bear 90% of her body like this. And don’t give us the trash fucking filth that is Mineta to point this out.
Also, ALSO, she apparently creates objects using her own fat cells. Why not let her be a fat character who optimizes this quirk? (Fatgum, a male character, makes full use of being fat given his quirk). Instead the logic of Momo’s quirk gets tossed out the window for the sake of having a tantalizing, sexy character forced to bear most of her flesh despite being embarrassed about it.
Just… when’s the BNHA patch release where they fix Momo’s outfit and delete Mineta from the universe? Because BNHA is so good and it doesn’t need to have these things.
This sequence of panels reads like a daytime tv drama.
Inasa (glaring dramatically): I'll despise you to the end of days. You have the cold eyes of your father.
Shouto: (*404 error noises*)
Izuku (playing the role of Shouto's MPDG): Oh no Todoroki-kun do you want to talk about your feelings?
Toga (as Camie): Hey ~~
Izuku: (*terrified bluescreen noises*)
Ochako (in ten layers of denial): Am I jealous she was flirting with my hetero not-crush or because she reminds my girl not-crush?
you were kind; i was cruel
