the dichotomy between an attack dog vs a guard dog is like. an attack dog is sent out to carry out violence. it's starved and abused to ensure aggression. it has no other purpose outside of Attacking at the whim of its master. it's constantly on guard because a threat can come from any direction at any time. it's the dog chained up in a basement that's only set loose when there's something to kill.
but a guard dog is protecting instead of attacking. instead of being sent out to fight, it comes home to defend the house. it may be constantly on watch for an external threat, but it is content to lay with the sheep until a wolf comes to the door. the guard dog has a warm place to sleep, and is well fed and treated like a member of the household. it's free to leave at any time but it stays to protect the house anyway. do u get it. do u understand.
“With the strikes it’s back to watching reruns and old movies!”
Me, who already doesn’t see new movies til like 5 years after they come out and has a backlog of shows to watch a mile long:
That moment in episode 6 where Grover asks “Are we late because of me” Percy doesn’t answer immediately he pauses and he looks like he’s thinking and guys what if he’s thinking about the prophecy and for this brief moment he’s wondering if Grover did this on purpose cuz they did miss the deadline, they did get late, they failed the quest.
And he took Grover cuz he trusted him but now he likes annabeth too, he cares about her too.
And the thought of twelve year old Percy, the weight of the world on his shoulders, worried about his mom, lying awake at night, replaying the prophecy, wondering who it might be. Wondering who he wants it to be, who would hurt less and not knowing because they’re his friends, they both are, how could he pick.
I could cry.
so i haven't read the books but something i so far really love about lockwood & co is the costume design, particularly with Lucy and Lockwood.
Lockwood spends most of the show dressed up in a pretty, pressed suit, sleeves rolled up and tie removed as necessary, but every so often we see him in a plain white t-shirt, a hoodie, but only in his home, only with his team. But even his suit isn't perfectly formal, the fact that he's still kind of a kid peeks through- pink socks and worn-out sneakers and undone top buttons and rolled up sleeves like the layers frustrate him.
Lucy's outfits, once she escapes the ill-fitting, ugly, and ultimately not very protective uniform of her old company, wears clothes that are practical but still very feminine. Thick sweaters and leggings under her skirts and jackets that actually look as warm as they are cute. Her clothes never compromise that she is, at heart, a young girl, without getting in the way with too-tight fabrics or too-loose skirts or any other male-gaze-style costumes.
I dunno, I just love when costume designs reflect things about characters, especially in terms of practicality.
I absolutely adore the clothes that Lucy wears. Just because there’s isn’t a huge range (which would be weird if there’s was since she came to London with a single bag) and also they’re unique to her style. She has a thick jacket for when she goes to cases (since they do get very cold) but also comfy clothes for hanging about the house. I also love the dress she wore to the ball as it felt like something a teenager would pick out. It’s suitable for the ball but it isn’t some massive ball gown or mini dress. It looks like something she could afford and would want to wear. There’s also no stupid sexualisation that sometimes comes with these types of shows where her practical outfit for missions may be on the tight side. It’s just clothes for a teenager that’s so clearly her style. Also practically all of the outfits are blue which I love. A small detail like a characters favourite colour being in their clothes just really helps to flesh out the show.
I also love the use of clothes when it comes to Lockwood. It’s so clearly his armour so when we see him without it it’s almost jarring how much more vulnerable and younger he looks. ALSO DONT GET ME STARTED ON THAT LOCKWOOD WORE PINK SOCKS FOR MOST EPISODES BUT WHEN THEY WENT TO THE BALL HE WORE BLUE ONES TO MATCH LUCYS DRESS😭😭. I just love the small attention to details
lucy carlyle + comfy
The most important thing about characterization of the Doctor is that they simultaneously be an awe-inspiring ancient eldritch of incomprehensible intellect and power, and also the biggest dork you have ever met.
They walk in eternity, they're made of fire and ice and forever, and it is so embarrassing to be seen with them in public.
Growing.
I’m rewatching rn and this is very accurate
seriously though, something i love about the sarah jane adventures is just how poorly sarah jane manages to be a functional adult. start of the series, she has no friends except an alien computer and a robot dog. she’s fumbling her way through parenting every step of the way. she cannot interact with maria’s dad normally in any way. she takes this bunch of kids and goes, “yeah, you’re about as qualified as i was to start dealing with aliens, how do you feel about being in mortal danger?” the minute she feels like she’s about to lose anyone, she shuts down emotionally and pushes them away. she’s in her late 50s and she’s still figuring her shit out, and i love that for her.
Wet cat vibes😂😂
Only a few episodes in and love him already
okay i thought i’d try night agent and i’m so endeared by peter
Why aren’t more people talking about them! They are everything to me right now. She is so smart and sassy. He is so protective of her and loyal. The Night Agent is one of my favorite things right now. Peter and Rose have my heart right now.
Random stuff I love. Currently obsessed with Lockwood and co. Pls go stream it on Netflix we need season 2!!
