Justice League #33, variant cover by Darwyn Cooke
Just learned that Darwyn Cooke passed away. A very tragic loss for the industry – Cooke was one of the greatest visual storytellers of the moment, someone whose work captured a Silver Age sensibility for contemporary stories. I highly recommend anything he worked on (and there was a lot). For anyone unfamiliar with his work, a great place to start is DC: The New Frontier. A great take on the DCU that displays Mr. Cooke’s talents at their height.

poor bats *pat pat*
That’s why Heath Ledger won that Oscar, imo. That reaction. When The Joker realizes that, yes, perhaps he was wrong all along.
He prided himself on predicting ordinary people and being so super, extra, totally smart, but in the end, he was a fucking failure because things like love and sympathy and empathy were just beyond him.
Man, you don’t understand love, you don’t understand anything. Comic book supervillains never get that, though.
