The positive and negative aspects of the sun 

  The sun is an enormous force in our lives. She can do a lot of good, but she can also do a lot of damage. One of my favorite things to say is how most things have duality or multifaceted parts. The sun also has positive and negative sides. A gentle sun in spring is still the same sun in a scorching desert. Negative aspects and feelings are a part of life and completely normal, but they should be managed in a respectable way. They are not an excuse to harm people. 

Positive Aspects

🌿 The ability to “light up a room” and make people laugh

🌿 Banishing negativity 

🌿 Powersource or a source of inspiriation for others 

🌿 Protecting others 

🌿 Creativity in the arts 

Negative Aspects 

🌿 Being prideful to a fault 

🌿 Intense anger/rage 

🌿 Burning people by harming them through words or actions 

🌿 Obsessive behavior 

🌿 Feeling too much

🌿 Being easily exhausted

🌞Used for:

Protection, healing (especially physical), happiness, truth, clairvoyance, courage, strength, prosperity, luck, self-love, cleansing, confidence, leadership, justice, gardening, growth, warmth, comfort, fertility, and creativity

🌞How to make it:

Leave the water on a sunny windowsill or outside, preferably in direct sunlight. Sunrise, 9 am, 12 pm, and 3 pm are perfect times for this, or you can leave it from sunrise to sunset. You can also add herbs and flowers to it as well (lemon peels, orange peels, marigolds, chamomile, cinnamon, sunflower, etc.) Or charge it with some stones (like sunstone, orange calcite, citrine, tigers eye, goldstone or carnelian), but please don’t put these stones in the water. You can also make a sun tea with sun water for a very potent solar spell.

Is there a way that pokemon companions can evolve, if so, how would that work? Like especially when it comes to pokemon that need items or need to be traded to evolve, as compared to "levelling up" like how would levelling up even work in the real world? And an extra question (sorry if I'm bombarding you lol) can pokemon companions be shiny? Like how would you find shiny pokemon, I suspect its near impossible. I did ask this elsewhere, just looking for a variety of opinions. Thanks!!

My opinion is that evolution would work less like it does in the games, and would be based more off of personal spiritual growth. “Leveling up” would be you growing in your spiritual practice as it relates to your bonds with that Pokémon.

I can see certain Pokémon who evolve via methods other than leveling up needing to meet certain prerequisites that are a little more metaphorical than they are literal (although maybe they could be pretty literal, depending.) Maybe Inkay will only evolve into Malamar once you have a big revelation that turns both your and Inkay’s worldview “upside-down.” (Okay that example is pretty corny.)

Or let’s say you are a storm witch and you deal with rain a lot but it doesn’t actually snow where you live. Ideally, you want to work with ice and snow. It’s your biggest goal as a storm witch. Your companion is an Eevee. Perhaps it can only become a Glaceon once you’re able to visit a snowy region and preform your first snow-based magick, growing as a storm witch.

With translating game-based mechanics to a real-world metaphysical set of rules, I don’t think it always has to be super literal and you can think more abstractly and be guided more by intuition. Or maybe someone’s specific practice is structured in a super literal way, where “leveling up” is calculating completely mathematically corresponding to a certain quota of EXP. Like, someone assigns “1 spell=[this much] EXP” and that makes sense to them. I wouldn’t do it that way, sounds too rigid. But some people like it that way.

As for Shiny Pokémon, again, I don’t think it’s based exactly on game rarity values. Like, I think in the Pokémon world, the average trainer would never interact with a handful of different legendary Pokémon, let alone be their trainer. You play the role of a very special hero whose dedication goes above and beyond that of the average trainer which is why you are able to save the world and seek out so many legendary Pokémon. In all honesty, I think the average trainer has a better chance of encountering a shiny Pokémon within their lifetime than they have of forming a relationship with a legendary Pokémon.

And yet? Most Poképagans I know work closely with legendaries. If you look at it holistically, the odds that we would all be working with legendaries? If we were in the Pokémon world? It wouldn’t happen. But we’re not in the Pokémon world. The legendaries are a lot easier to contact because they operate under different rules here.

I don’t think shiny Pokémon are impossible to work with. Especially if you consider the theory of Pop Culture Paganism that it is our energy, thoughts, and dedication to Pokémon as a piece of Pop Culture that gives it its spiritual power. If everyone thinks shinies are cool, and cares a lot about them, and invests a lot of emotions into searching for them, then that means they probably have a certain type of energy and power that is coveted. I think that means it won’t be impossible to find one.

Solar Charged Heat Ward

an old spell of mine i had posted on an old side account before deleting the blog, but i’m reposting it here on my new witchcraft side blog. a jar spell that charges in the sun to keep your space protected. this ward is strongest in late spring and summer.

☀️ gather: jar, black tea leaves, green tea leaves, cayenne pepper, apple seed, black candle

☀️ light your black candle

☀️ layer the ingredients one by one into your jar. black tea grounds to expel negative energy and entities, green tea leaves to amplify energy and behave as a catalyst, cayenne pepper for offensive magic/quick results/heat, then one by one place a desired amount of apple seed*

☀️ as you drop your apple seed, affirm “for every attack on this ward, it is reflected to the attacker ten times the amount for every apple seed in this jar”

☀️ spit inside the jar and seal with candle wax

☀️ place in a section of your home where it can be in direct sunlight and recharge (or reheat) as needed.

*while apple seed may be used as a love spell ingredient, due to the resin properties within it can also be used for curses*

🍃 Untouchable Rose Protection Spell 🌹🍃

Fear the beauty of the rose. Fear the thorns wrapped around her heart.

Protection requires a good defense, an untouchable one. For those of us who don’t like to be touched or gazed at, it can be especially challenging because people often overstep our boundaries without realizing it. It can be even more difficult to bring it to the person’s attention. It’s better to have a defense already in place, should someone attempt to come too close.  

Materials! 

Thorns: this can be simulated with anything sharp; tacks, pins, nails, etc.

Fire: a candle, white or red is fine.  

Paper and a writing utensil: make sure you have a small enough paper you feel comfortable burning. 

Container: something to put the burning paper in so you won’t burn yourself.

Location: indoors after the sun has set. 

Spellwork!

- Take your “thorns” and arrange them in a circle, pointed ends pointed outwards (this part is extremely important, your intent is to project this spell out away from you, not inward). 

- In the middle of the thorn circle, put your candle and light it 

- Place your fire-proof bowl or container in a place you can easily reach. 

- Take your paper and draw your intent on it. This can mean a phrase such as “keep away from me” or just random scribbles. It doesn’t matter as long as it has the intent to keep people out of your personal space. 

- Fold up and burn the paper over the candle. 

- Chant either in your head or out loud: 

“I’ve bloomed alone, and under thorns I wait, 

For as long as I need to be. 

Those who intrude upon my space, 

Cannot lay a finger on me.” 

- Place the burning paper in the fire-proof container, make sure it burns down to ashes

- Dispose of the ashes 

- Breathe a sigh of relief, and feel accomplished in the fact you’ve taken your comfort and security into your own hands!
