Where will your heart go? Where will it lead you? Who will it go to in the end?

“Hey Katsuki, tell me something.”

“What is it now?”

You fiddled with your fingers out of pure boredom or could it be nervousness? The walk to your intended destination appeared to be taking longer than expected. A shallow breeze swept by, letting your hair fly free and dance in the warm wind. Bakugou hadn’t realized he was staring since he was suddenly entranced by your unintentional charm.

After what seemed like a lifetime, you spoke up.

“What are we?”

The question caught him completely off guard. He had never taken into consideration what you thought of each other. Neighbors? Friends? Classmates?

However, he knew you harbored feelings for another.

“What is that supposed to–” “We’re here!”

You made your way into the shop, a bell signaling your presence to the cashier at the register whom you instantly recognized.

“Michiko, it is so nice to see you again.” You greeted.

“I’d say the same to you, Y/N. Ah, is this a friend of yours?” She smiled, gesturing at Bakugou who had a displeased scowl on his face.

“Yes,” you answered, tugging him towards you. “This is Bakugou, I’m sorry if he seems rude. He’s feeling a bit under the weather right now.”

“That’s all right,” Michiko laughed. “I have your order ready in the back, let me go fetch it for you.”

“Perfect, thank you!”

You turned to face Bakugou once more and found it was not an aggressive expression that adorned his features but more of a melancholy one. He was so deep in thought that you did not want to disrupt him but you did so anyways.

“Katsuki, stop spacing out. Come take a look at these hyacinths with me.” You grasped his hand with yours.

“Huh? Quit holding my hand, Y/N.”

“Be quiet, I’m trying to tell the difference between each of their meanings.”

“Why the fuck do you care so much?”

You sighed deeply, “I have a plant based Quirk, idiot. This is some research I am doing and gathering knowledge on various blossoms.”

“I don’t know what is so special about some-” “A-ACHOO!”

With another explosive sneeze, the hyacinths before you shook violently before settling back into place. A coughing fit ensued right after so you began rummaging through your school bag. Bakugou grumbled as you handed him a handkerchief for his ailing nose and a cough drop.

“Oh my god, you made the petals come off them!”

“Not my fault their shitty pollen made me fucking sneeze.”

“Why you-!”

Michiko appeared in the nick of time, a precious bouquet blanketed in her cautious arms. You caught off guard by the size of it, surely you’d have to have Bakugou carry it with you.

“Here you are.” She placed the floral arrangement on the counter and noticed you both head butting each other.. “Oh, what’s wrong?”

“This jerk scared the petals right off of some hyacinths I was gazing at.”

“Oh those?” Michiko made her way to the unorganized display. “You can have them if you like, they’re close to wilting and I do not want them to go to waste.”

“I can’t accept those. It’s your inventory.”

“It’s fine, honestly. They’ll degrade too quickly at my house since I get too busy managing the shop.”

“I really shouldn’t-”

Bakugou groaned loudly at the situation. “Y/N, decide already. I want to go home. With a Quirk like yours I’m sure they’ll stick around for a while.”

Your face flushed at the subtle compliment. He had known that you belittled your Quirk on the daily because you felt as if you were not cut out to be a hero. Bakugou had helped you out of that rut by offering you to duel with him during training and while discovering your strengths and weaknesses. 

You finally gave into your desires and gladly accepted the flowers. 

“Thank you once again, Michiko.”

A small smile danced on his lips but he quickly hid it with a turn on his heel. You were both out the door once more in pursuit of your home close by.

“What are they saying?”

“I don’t know. Kaminari, move your head!”

“Sero, you’re squishing me…”

“Sorry, Ashido.”

The group of friends hid in a cluster of shrubs to conceal their spying on Bakugou and Y/N. If there was a slim chance that the two would begin dating by the end of the night, then all of them had to be there to witness it. Call it being nosy but they considered it vouching for their one true pairing to become a reality.

Currently, you were discussing today’s earlier lesson at school with Bakugou. You had missed a large portion of the lesson by spending it in the infirmary.

“Aizawa’s exam is going to end me. I can feel the planets going into Gatorade. ”

“Hey…”

“Iida offered to tutor me but I feel as if he would drone on and on.” You continued. “Momo might be a bit more helpful but I do not want to burden her.”

“Y/N, what-“

“I should have taken better notes throughout class. God, my academic career is over–“

At that very moment Bakugou’s fuming temper snapped.

“WILL YOU PLEASE SHUT THE FUCK UP! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET YOUR ATTENTION FOR THE LAST FIVE MINUTES,” He yelled out with steam coming out of his ears. “AND THE WORD IS RETROGRADE, DUMBASS. R-E-T-R-O-G-R-A-D-E.”

You blinked, clearly unfazed. “I’m sorry, Katsuki. What were you saying?”

He grumbled for a second and finally spoke. “What you said at the shitty flower shop…”

“Yeah?”

“When you asked, ‘What are we?’, was there a certain meaning behind it?”

You thought for a moment and laughed hysterically in his face. “Haha, I didn’t get to finish what I was going to say. I meant to ask what are we going to do about the training camp?”

As soon as you spoke those words, his mind lost grip of reality. You had appeared so serious when you questioned him. He hasn’t misread your body language, you were full of sincerity. Had there really been no other interpretations of it?

“Well fuck,” he spat. “Here I was thinking that you wanted me.”

“Wanted you?” You laughed again with tears in your eyes. “Don’t flatter yourself, Katsuki. I do not think of you in any romantical way.”

“Same to you, shithead.”

From the bushes, the group of friends held back their anguished screams. The plant shook violently from the outside and almost gave away their disguise.

“She shot him down!” Mina cried.

“Y/N is so unintentionally cruel.” Sero piped in.

“Bakugou doesn’t seem upset though. He’s taking it like a real man.” Kirishima weeped.

“Hold on, let’s keep watching.” Kaminari said.

A feminine voice cut in from behind. “Can I help you?”

The quartet emerged from their hiding spot and bowed down to the floor. They all shivered in fear of what could happened and didn’t dare lock eyes with either of them. Apologies began to be shouted from each of them.

“WE’VE BEEN CAUGHT!”

“PLEASE DON’T BLOW US UP, BAKUGOU.”

“Y/N, USE YOUR QUIRK AND KEEP HIM DOWN.”

“IT’S NOT MANLY TO BARBECUE YOUR FRIENDS!”

The voice cut them out of their trance, it was unfamiliar. “Are you all okay? I am not going to hurt you. Now, stop bowing so low. It’s embarrassing.”

Michiko stared down at the group of teenagers with a puzzled expression. A sigh of relief escaped from their trembling lips. She was only sweeping around the outside of the shop but the quaking shrub caught her attention.

“That uniform,” she smirked. “It’s from U.A., right? You must be Y/N’s friends.”

“Yes ma’am,” Kaminari confirmed. “We were spying on her and Bakugou.”

Michiko giggled, “You’d better get a move on then, she’s heading home.”

“Of course. We’re so sorry for the disturbance!”

Within a few seconds they had dashed down the street and disappeared from her sight.

“Kids these days,” she chuckled.

The door opened once more as she made her way back inside. She made her way to the used-to-be hyacinth display while something caught her attention.

“Oh, that’s odd.”

She bent down to the ground and scooped up a bit of the petals that were supposedly knocked off earlier. She inspected them with her experienced eyes and quickly made a conclusion.

“These are gardenia petals. I haven’t received a shipment of those in about three weeks…”

As the time passed, the silence that loomed between you two was everything but comfortable. There was an elephant in the room that no one wanted to address or even knew what it was about. Your friendship strained over the next few months and Bakugou’s condition only grew even more worse without you knowing.

“There’s something fucking wrong with me,” he panted as he felt the next round of it come up his throat.

He coughed violently once more and yellow petals flew from his mouth. It was tragically beautiful but to Bakugou it was absolute insanity.

“I have to go back to training,” he told himself. “Or they’ll catch onto what is wrong.”

Bakugou composed himself and readjusted his hero costume. Aizawa had only excused him for a couple of minutes so he had to hurry back to the field. He ran back with a hand over his mouth in case his body acted up again.

Izuku shot him a glance. “Kacchan? Are you all right?”

The question only made him more upset. “I’m fine, you damn nerd.”

This time you made a comment. “You look pale, I think you should sit out. I’ll go tell Eraserhead and All Might–“

“It’s none of your fucking business, Y/N.” He spat. “Keep quiet or I’ll blow your brains out.”

You got near him and placed an arm on his shoulder. “You have no right to speak to me in that way. Calm down, Katsuki.”

“Don’t fucking touch me!” He yelled at you and before he could stop, an explosion hit you directly at full force.

You were thrown into the air as the rest of the students watched in horror. It was too painful for you to use your Quirk. They all scattered around in an attempt to catch your limp body. Todoroki elevated himself with his ice and roughly caught you in his arms.

The teachers quickly called for Recovery Girl to be brought there immediately. You were capable enough of speaking and objected to getting help. The burn wound on your abdomen signaled otherwise. However, everyone was too distracted to notice that Bakugou was coughing up even more petals now.

He wiped his mouth and his eyes widened in sheer panic.

“Is this blood?”
