HE KNEW IT WAS HARD , even if he didn’t have children of his own . Being able to let go , to let someone you care about do what they need to do . Hell , there were things he’d done for Oswald in an effort to protect him that had just made things worse in the long run , like trying to take the fall for the murder here in town . ❝ She’ll come home to you , I know it . You’re her family . ❞ Even if he’d seen what had been said in the town text chat (both the smartest and dumbest thing he’d seen)
He beamed, leaning forward a bit . ❝ I’ve been doing good . Oswald is remembering more and more , which is good . I’ve apologized for what I did to hurt him , long ago now , so we’re past that . Now it’s just him remembering the good times . ❞ And Edward , but that was something to deal with slowly , to help Oswald let him go . ❝ It’s good to see those parts of him again , you know ? ❞ He loved Oswald , any version he got , but he’d missed some of the devious ambition he’d known in Gotham .
Family… even though Yennefer knew it to be true, hearing the word spoken aloud still left her feeling an inexplicable happiness. It had been something she spent decades searching for, and she cherished every little moment of it since.
She sipped her cocktail, smiling a bit as she did. Most wouldn't be able to tell, but Yennefer liked to see those she cared for be happy. And despite how long it took her to admit it to herself, she did care for Zsasz. It warmed her to see him start to gush about Oswald.
“Good, good, that's so good. I’m happy for you both,” she set her empty glass down on the little napkin in front of her. “I do know, indeed… my experience with memory issues is a bit more jaded than yours, but I’m glad it's going so well for you both.”
Looking down at her empty glass, she gave a pitiful little sigh. Getting up for another seemed like such an effort. “Do you need another?”

Did it leave a sour taste in his mouth when she made that comment about kissing? Of course it did. But it really shouldn’t because she wasn’t his. He had Louisa so why was he standing here feeling jealous over the thought of Yennefer kissing other people? Pathetic, if you ask him. He had no right to act any kind of way around her, he didn’t even remember her. So he had to swallow it down.
“Well it’s nice to know that I am special”
He told her, flashing her a soft smile. When he was about to speak once again, he felt the buzzing of his phone. As he grabbed his phone and looked at the screen, it was like cold water was thrown all over him. Louisa. Of course it was. “Ehm well.. it was nice seeing you”
He would always be special to her-- even if he didn’t know her name, or if he was old and rotten, or if he never wanted to see her again. Destiny or no, he would always be special.
Turn and walk away, Yennefer.
She opened her mouth to speak, but he checked his phone, and she knew enough not to. Her eyes narrowed momentarily, then she looked off.
Turn and walk.
“I suppose... Well, I suppose it was nice to see you, too.” Her words, stiff and too big in her mouth. It was a lie, because it hadn’t been nice-- not at all. It had been horrible actually. She wished Geralt was spheres away, toiling over her and Ciri and the bard, because that would be so much easier to bear than this. “Until the next meeting.”
Finally gaining control of her own legs, Yennefer turned, jammed her fists into her coat pockets, and she walked away.

“I can talk about him for hours and never grow tired of it” Zelda smiled. “His name is Link and we are bound together in a way. We die in one timeline and come back in another but we always find each other. We never stay too far away from one another and that is the greatest comfort I have ever experienced. His duty was to keep me and my kingdom safe from evil. Along the way it just seems like we both fell madly in love. Took us a while to finally admit it out loud. From my part it was out of fear of being rejected”
“And when it comes to me. Well I used to be a princess but now I am a model. I am a huge animal lover and I also love long showers and walks in the woods. In a way it soothes me from the confusion of this town”

No matter how many strange things he had seen, the tales which some members of Sallow Hills had to offer still managed to leave Sam a bit taken aback. Right, so reincarnation was a thing. Mental note on that one.
“That really is a slow burning love story if I’ve ever heard one. I’m afraid you’ve got me beat,” he chuckled. He knew a thing or two about that sort of fear, so he could hardly hold it against her for waiting so long (not that Sam was the type of person to do such a thing). They certainly looked the part of a princess; they had the same kind air around them as the Lady Arwen did, though he wasn't completely sure if she was an actual princess or not. “Princess? Well that surely does fit you, doesn't it.”
He smiled, one kind yet tinged with a sadness, “Walks in the woods have always done me good, even before I came here. But I have heard some strange tales about the one surrounding town.” Sam didn’t remark on his own experience with the not-so-friendly forest he had been in before; he didn’t think there was a bouncy man in a funny coat living in this forest, either, so he left that out as well. “If I’m being honest, it gives me the creeps sometimes, but it offers some interesting flora to study, so I make trips to it anyway”

“Sometimes I can’t help but wonder if I am actually human. I have been used as a vessel for deities so many times I can’t help but feel like I lost my humanity long ago” Zelda mused. Those words had always been on her mind but never uttered out loud until now. They never wanted to tell Link how inhuman she sometimes felt. How it felt like her body wasn’t her’s but the Goddesses. Those feelings would always linger no matter how many years would pass.
“Your Frodo. Did you ever tell him how you felt? How devoted you were to him?” it was nice to switch the focus of the conversation onto someone else. Talking about herself became so draining after a while. Being the centre of attention had never been Zelda’s cup of tea yet it seemed like fate had different plans for them. Time and time again the princess would be in the spotlight and every single time they felt discomfort.
“I hope Frodo will end up here in Sallow. You deserve happiness, my dear Sam”
Samwise didn’t have a good response for that. He had never come close to a deity in the way Zelda had, and he couldn’t hope to come up with something that wasn’t grasping at straws. But he tried anyway, because Sam would never let anyone he cared for go uncomforted. “I can’t say I know much about your background, but I do know you. I know you’ve got a big heart, and a level head, and you’re stubborn beyond belief. I think those are very human qualities indeed.”
Finally stepping back to resume cooking, Sam chuckled a bit at her question. “I did tell him, yes. I told him all the time, for years of my life, though it did take a long while for me to figure out just how deeply I meant it. I worked for him, you see, and its common to pronounce your devotion to the one you serve like that where I’m from. I realized it at a bad time, but we were lucky enough to get the chance to be with one another when we returned to the Shire. He sighed a little at that, vegetables going into a pot on the stove to soften. “You’re too kind, Zelda, but I do too. I really do too… You know, its funny. You remind me of him quite a bit sometimes.”

@bombadills | Sam
Being home after almost a month felt amazing. It proved once again just how resilient and stubborn Zelda was. The last thing they wanted at the moment was to just lay in a hospital room, staring up at the ceiling bored out of their mind due to the fact that there was nothing she could do in that room. All she could do was lay there and twiddle her thumbs and hope she would get to return home someday soon. And here they were.
Hearing a knock at the door, the former princess let out a soft hum and made their way to the hallway, opening the door and flashing the familiar face a soft smile. “Samwise” she greeted.
The news of what happened to his friend had taken Sam by a major surprise. He hadn’t thought such things could possibly happen here, but there he went thinking again. He thought of Zelda often– if she was feeling better, if she was terribly frightened, how long it would be until she could get back to normal. When she had let him know that she was home and heading in the direction of normality once more, he was overjoyed and assured her that he would be round to visit her as soon as he had the chance.
He made it to her doorstep with a large covered dish of food in hand. It was only polite to bring someone in recovery a bit to help them on their way. When she opened the door, he grinned at her. Seeing her alright and in person took a weight off of his shoulders. “Zelda! Great to see you’re upright and about again.”

He understood the sentiment, maybe it would be best to sever ties with Geralt, but he also knew that it wouldn’t last long. “yes, the liqour does seem alot nicer here. and there seem to be many different types aswell, each with unique flavours.and all of the special mixes and combinations of colourful liquids, it looks like an alchemical workshop in every bar.”
Yennefer nodded, being quite happy with the newfound assortment of liquor herself. She was beginning to understand why the pub was so often brimming with people. It wasn't so people could confer and it happened to be the only place in town for such a thing, but because they actually enjoyed the drink and company. She missed The Continent as much as the rest of them did, but Yennefer didn’t think she could ever miss the stench or service or patrons of one of its inns.
“It is indeed,” she murmured as she eyed the colorful bottles on display. There was silence between them for a minute before she broke the tension. “You know, I’ve dreamt up a lot of things in my time, but I never thought the pair of us would ever be stood together lamenting our sorrows over drinks.”

for the one and only @wickedpotions
Midna was restless. She was spending more time taking walks these days. They helped to clear her head in a way that nothing else she had found here could. Everything was so messy now.
After the initial elation to be reunited with Link came the explanation of where she was (and where she couldn’t return). She was unsure of how that made her feel— yes, she loved her realm and her people, but it was exhausting work to support them. Midna thought of them often on her walks, which were often at night.
She rarely came across others, especially the later the hours became, and the deeper in the forest she ventured. Of course, she had been warned of the dangers that could be waiting for her there, but Midna didn’t mind it. The bit of adrenaline kept things exciting. In the few weeks since she had arrived, her path had crossed with only one other person in the wood. The vague possibility of meeting another felt like just that— a vague possibility.
Midna should have known better than to expect things to stay that way.
As she strolled down the path, head swimming with thoughts of her beloved Twili and her far away home, her feet made no sound as they trampled the debris of the forest floor. Her attention was caught by a wisp of red fur a few meters off— a fox. She smiled slightly as she watched it paw at something hidden by the shrubbery, though her face scrunched when it heard something and bolted in the opposite direction. Midna turned to come face to face with a man she hadn't seen before. Placing a hand on her chest, she gasped softly, “Goddesses you scared me. Don’t you know its rude to sneak up on people like that?”
ofmvoonlight:
Placing a hand on their forehead, Zelda let out a heavy sigh. It had been a long time since they had felt like this. It wasn’t an illness, that she knew. That only specifically happened whenever she stayed away from Link for selfish reasons. No this was something else. The adrenaline was slowly starting to come down which was the main reason as to why it felt like the entire world was spinning around the poor brunette.
Taking a deep breath in an attempt to try and ground herself, they then hummed when they listened to what the stranger was saying. “Mhm yeah some water would be nice. And maybe a bite to eat. It’s been a couple of hours since breakfast” licking their lips, Zelda closed their eyes.

Sam would occasionally get teased by his friends for being ‘such a mother hen,’ but in times like these, he couldn’t find it in himself to care. He was ready to reach out and catch her if she were to faint, but hopefully it would not come to that. The model’s suggestion of food was a good idea by him; he was a hobbit after all, and eating was one of his favorite activities.
“That sounds quite alright with me. Do you want my arm to hang onto while we walk, miss… I’m sorry, I don’t think I caught your name.” he had held out his arm in a polite manner if they decided to accept the offer. He didn’t want to chance them falling down on the way there.
