Placing their hands over their stomach, they sighed. Even though Zelda was back up on their feet, they could still feel the pain every now and then. It came in waves. One second her stomach didn’t ache and she could move around and then the next it felt like if they made one move they would fall over. So it would be best to just sit still for the time being and let Samwise help them.
“Oh Samwise. I am certain that you will find someone” they then fell silent for a couple of seconds. “Unless.. there’s already someone” arching a brow, the princess couldn’t help the giggle. She was eager to learn more about the other and if this meant that she would have to poke around then so be it.
“Oh? Do tell”
Sam’s eyes darted to Zelda’s hands for a moment before he spoke. He wanted greatly to ask if she was feeling alright, but he knew what her answer would be. His eyes quickly met their gaze before it became anything too noticeable.
With a slight smile and a shake of his head, he chuckled, “I do already have someone, Zelda. I mean, look at me.” He playfully gestured to himself. “Two someones, actually, but they're… well they aren’t here. I've looked.”
He did his best to not sound too sad about it, despite much it hurt to think about. He had been around Frodo his whole life, so the adjustment to their separation was a bit much at times. He did his best to get by despite that, though.
“Yes, well, it's not completely new, but it's much clearer than it was. I figured out I used to be the mayor of my home town,” a tiny smile graced his lips, as it usually did when he thought of home. “Nothing big, I know, but I never had a clear word for it before.”

Having any job kept a person on their toes, but owning a business? Sirius could only imagine how much time that would take up. Keeping busy sounded like an understatement. “Bet you don’t get much time to breathe. I’d say you’ve earned a drink for sure. More likely, you earn one every day for doing everything you have to do.”
Nodding, he went to pour the ale, listening to the customer describe his job. The plant shop? Now Sirius was really impressed. He would probably fall asleep if he was in charge of a place full of plants. Though the uncommon plants part sounded interesting. “I’m guessing you like plants, then? Can’t say they’re high on my list, sorry to say. I got good marks in Herbology, but I think I’d end up killing a plant if I really had to take care of one. Though maybe not if it was an…uncommon one.”
It was with a little laugh that Samwise shook his head ‘no.’ He was constantly busy. There was always something the matter with one thing or another, and it always seemed the moment one thing was taken care of, another cropped its head up to take its place.
“I do like plants, yeah. I wouldn’t be breakin’ my back for the place if I didn't, I suppose. It is a challenging hobby, so I can understand your troubles with it. Certainly takes a lot of patience, which is a gift I’m grateful to have,” Sam took the mug handed to him, glad to have something to do with his hands. He took a sip before continuing on, “It's not hard for me, though. Been doing it my whole life, so it's second nature to me now.”

MERLIN WASN’T SURE IF HE SHOULD FEEL REASSURED OR WORRIED THAT SOMEONE ELSE BRUSHED OFF THE WARNINGS . there were dangerous things in the forest , though he suspected most of those things were less dangerous than the town let on . They were territorial , and honestly weren’t humans as well ? ❝ It feels like a staple of humanity that they like to warn people away from everything , even if it’s not nearly as scary as they let on . I’ve ran into a few nasty things in the forest , but not many . Most things just like having their space . ❞
OF COURSE , HE WAS ALSO A CREATURE OF MAGICK , and that tended to ease some of the tensions between him and other creatures . They were attracted to eir magick , and more likely to let em into their space .
❝ IT IS NICE TO THINK ALONE , if you have a lot on you remind . Is home far away for you ? Or nearby ? ❞ Ey supposed that was the easiest way to phrase it . There were people from worlds so unlike this one here , and others like him who were a bit closer .
Midna looked around the surrounding trees, not out of any anxiety, but simple awareness. Her eyes were best adjusted to the dark. She spotted birds in the trees, heard the sounds of creatures foraging and settling in their homes, and saw as the intermittent breeze blew about fallen leaves. To her, it was peaceful. She was glad that Merlin wasn’t disturbing the peace. “Fair enough I suppose. I understand wanting space, that's why I came out here after all.”
It took a moment for her to figure out an answer to eir question. It was a complicated one if she really thought about it. While she had been good with science classes with her tutors, she was far from an expert. “It's a little bit of both I think. It's far away, yet just under our nose all at once. To get straight to the point, my home is the realm of shadows. A parallel one to the world of light.”
To demonstrate, she moved her hand, and one of the shadows that previously was in the shape of the small bush casting it, turned into the shape of a big dog, then a bird, then the fox that they had both been looking at. She smiled faintly at the shapes before letting them seep back to their original form. Perks of being the Twilight’s ruler. Midna shook her head as she looked back to Merlin, “But I can’t seem to slip back into the world of shadows since I got here.” She smiled then, wanting to dispel the subtle wave of sadness. “What about you? Are you from this Earth or from someplace else?”

REMUS COULD ONLY THINK THAT THIS MAN WAS FAR TOO NICE. it made his heart ache just a little, and he hoped not too many people were taking advantage of him for it. It warmed his rather cold heart, though, that he was so kind. ❝ Really, though, I can’t thank you enough for offering to help. ❞ With so much in Sallow Hills going wrong or weird, it was a comfort to know someone was willing to help a stranger.
HE HANDED THE THIRTY SIX OVER AND LOOKED OVER THE PLANTS. he’d have to use magic to get them back to his place, if he wanted to ensure he didn’t drop them. It was still weird doing it in public, in Sallow Hills. ❝ So how’d you get into plants? Were they always your thing or did you fall into it later in life. Not that you look old! ❞
Adjusting to life in town had been difficult, especially at first. There were so many new, odd, things to wade through: strange people, different social formalities, electricity. For a while, it left Samwise positively reeling. Despite all of it, he never faltered from his usual ways.
“Don’t mention it, friend, really.” His next comment made Sam laugh a bit. That was another difference; people rarely knew what to make of him here. “Well, I am older by most’s standards-- older than I look anyway. Don’t age the same way as human folk do. Fifty four, I am.” The man didn’t look more than his early thirties, but that's how things were when you were a hobbit. “My Old Gaffer- that is to say- my dad got me into it. He was a gardener, as was his before that, for a man up the road. Taught me all he knew, you see, and Hobbits tend to have a proclivity for growing things in general.”

DEAN TOOK A MOMENT TO PONDER HER WORDS. he hadn’t done much research into the magic of his own world, if he was being honest. The magic at Hogwarts had been a lot to begin with. But when he started this project, he’d sought out Professor Lupin who’d shared so many ideas of the magic in their own world, let alone the magic of this new world. Still, the idea of someone being magic was a lot to think about.
❝ BACK AT HOME, IT WAS RARE TO SEE A WIZARD NOT USING A WAND. it channels the magic we have in us, giving us more focus and direction. But, at the same time, if I traveled to a different area of the world, it would be different. But the way I learned magic was to channel it through something. ❞ He hesitated for a moment before pulling out his own wand. It was his second personal wand, technically, as his first had been destroyed by the Malfoys. This was the one he’d made with Ollivander, putting his own sweat and magic into it. Tight engravings covered it from handle to tip, though the shape of it was simple enough. ❝ I made this one myself a few years back, when my first wand was destroyed. ❞
HE HELD IT OUT SO SHE COULD SEE IT, if she so wished to. ❝ What kind of magic do you use, if you don’t mind me asking. ❞
Setting the small trinket she had in hand back into place on the shelf, Yennefer closed the distance between them. His explanation made a great deal of sense as it was similar to why someone in her practice would need one. She vaguely recalled Tissaia’s lesson on wandwork and channeling from her days studying in Aretuza, but that was so long ago any of the details had left her mind. She studied the wand with great curiosity. Finally, she held her hand out to take it, “You made this yourself? It's beautifully done.”
Turning the wand over in her hands, Yennefer examined each part of it in turn. The mage felt the slightest bit of magic humming around it, but not much else. She had discounted his skill upon his first entrance, but she could tell it was impressive even if she didn’t know much about the craft. Her appreciation would only grow when she considered how young he must be. After a moment, she held it back to him.
“My magic is Chaos,” she began. “It's everywhere. It runs beneath the ground like water. Where I come from, all you need do is tap the spring and focus it to your will. You may understand it as the law of entropy. I create order from the disorder, but as the universe’s natural state is disorder, I must be careful to not allow it to pull me back.”

ZSASZ SHRUGGED , THE MOTION MOVING THROUGH HIS ENTIRE BODY . ❝ you never know . I’ve picked people up in stranger places . Though for most people , the idea of picking anyone up in Gotham is a gamble so I suppose it isn’t hard to go a bit further than that . When you say alone do you just mean single or properly alone ? ❞
IF IT WAS THE LATER , the idea sat uncomfortably in his stomach . He’d always preferred a smaller circle , working as almost a lone wolf but not quite . The Zsaszettes were important to him , Falcone had been , Oswald was . Everyone deserved that one or two people that made them not feel alone in the world , and if Yennefer didn’t have that … well the answer was easy . Zsasz would pester her until that changed .
It took a moment for Yennefer to find the right answer. Labels had so rarely been her thing, and her life was anything but straightforward. There was no easy way to define a relationship tethered together by destiny and the haphazard wish of a djinn that you’ve been trying your best not to think about. Yennefer silently wished Geralt was there to talk to. But he wasn’t. And she would have to deal.
“I would say that it’s complicated, and he’s not here. Though, I’m not properly alone. I have my daughter here, which has been the sole nicety of this place. Before I found myself here, we were separated for far longer than I’d prefer.” Thinking of Ciri brought a little, genuine, smile to her lips. Come hell or high water, her daughter was the only person who could do no wrong to her. “And you mentioned a partner?”

Hearing what people did around the town was interesting, and one of the parts he liked best about working at the pub. Not that Sirius was unfamiliar with Muggle jobs, but it was always a refreshing change to hear about people being truck drivers or salespeople as opposed to aurors or Quidditch players. But clearly one thing that did not change was that work could be hard no matter what job you did.
“Oh, sorry to hear that. Good on you for owing a business, because I know I couldn’t do that. Too much responsibility.” Considering Sirius had been avoiding responsibility for much of his life, he did not think he would be cut out to be in charge of a business. “What kind of business do you own? And what can I get you to drink? You can tell me about the former while I get the latter.”
The barkeep was friendly, which was a relief. Sam didn't know if he could stand another bump in the road today. The last thing he wanted at this point was unpleasantness. His smile went a little less tired, and a little more genuine. he shrugged nonchalantly, “Aye, thanks. It certainly keeps me busy.”
“I’ll have your best ale on tap, whatever it may be,” he replied, without needing to think about it. “I run the Dwarven Nursery on Llwyn Tylwyth Teg. I sell houseplants, plants for the garden, things to be used for medicinal purposes, and the like. I also work to make sure people around here can have access to more, erm, uncommon plants, if you take my meaning, sir.”
