⌘Yennefer + Geralt ⌘
for my love @ofmvoonlight
To say life had been hectic as of late would be an understatement. All of the previous spare time Yennefer had swiftly got taken up upon the appearance of Ciri— not that she was complaining about that. There was something about it that felt innately right, but it kept her much busier than she had been.
Though today, Ciri was at work, and Yennefer had the day all to herself. Her plan was simply to go out and see where the day took her, so after dressing in her ever-so-typical way, the mage made her way into town. It was cold out, but the sun was shining at the very least and her woolen coat kept her warm enough. The day was proving to be uneventful, nothing too out of the ordinary for this place.
Nothing, until she had left the library. Yenna had been distracted, frigid fingers already carding through one of the massive books she had checked out. Being caught up in the prose led her to ramming into someone much too hard, book slipping from her grasp. “Excuse me,” she sneered as she bent down to retrieve the book, speaking as if it hadn't been her fault to begin with. “Maybe you should watch where-- Geralt”
His name was reverie on her lips, as it always had been. The sight of him was overwhelming. Yennefer felt her heart might beat out of her chest any second.
“Geralt, witcher, what in Meletele’s name are you doing here?Oh I'm so delighted to see you.” Arms looped around his neck, a difficult task due to the difference in height between them, she was beaming. Yennefer was pulling him into a kiss, yet stopped an inch or two from his face. Something felt wrong. Something was out of place, and it wasn't on her end. “Are you alright, Geralt? You’re stiff as a board.”
I think I just saw Yennefer Wilczynski (she/they, cis woman, 96). she’s a canon character from the witcher. have you heard she remembers everything from her previous life? she appeared here in may 2021 after attempting to track down her daughter, ciri, and hold off the wild hunt. now she’s working as a customer assistant at the bubbling cauldron. still, she does have that overly confident, bitten lips, mess of dark curls, lilac & gooseberries vibe about her.

“Remember-- magic is Chaos, art, and science. It is a curse, a blessing, and progress. It all depends on who uses magic, how they use it, and to what purpose. And magic is everywhere. All around us.”
--The Witcher, Blood of the Elves
Can you tell me your name?
“Yennefer of- ahem Wilczynski.
Where are you from?
“Vengerberg, in Aedirn.
What’s the last thing you remember?
“Last I remember I was carding through some dingy library looking for a certain... important piece of information.
We have a history of memory loss here. Do you feel as if you may be missing some memories?
“No. No, everything seems to be intact
Have you found a job here in Sallow Hills?
“I did indeed. I work at the Bubbling Cauldron. Its not what I would prefer, but it’ll do for the time being.
What was the strangest thing you saw before arriving here?
“Once I saw a witcher weaving flowers into a young girl’s hair. That's quite a strange sight.
What traits would your friends give to you?
“Powerful, talented, ineffably beautiful-- at least, they would, if I had any friends.
Is there anything else you would like to say?
“If you see a certain tall, white haired, brute, send him my way.

BILL WAS TAKING INVENTORY . which should be boring but wasn’t for the fact of all the things they got in . She was careful with all of them - so they didn’t break but also because this town was magic and who knew what these items were carrying . She spun at a voice , clutching the ceramic unicorn in her hands . ❝ Looking for … ❞
HER VOICE TRAILED OFF WHEN HER EYES LANDED ON THE WOMAN . she knew that face . From the pictures on the Doctor’s desk . She quickly stuffed the statue back on the shelf , wiping her hand on her pants and sticking it out . ❝ Oh you must be looking for the Doctor . I’m Bill . Can’t say I’ve heard much about you , but you know how the Doctor is . They like to keep everything to themself . I’m traveling with him these days . Well I was until we got stuck here .❞
Eyes flitting from the outstretched hand to the woman, Bill, behind it, River reached out and shook it with little hesitation. She smiled politely at her, yet her brow scrunched up a little in confusion. Why was she talking as if she was somebody of note? Sure, she had made a slightly larger than average purchase the other day, but that was hardly anything to make a fuss about. The business about traveling with them didn’t make much coherent sense to River either.
“Erm, sorry, I– right. I’m River, and yes I was looking for the Doctor. I don’t know why you’d have heard of me, though. I only met them the once this past Saturday, but all good things I hope,” she said with a thin, unsure smile. “I’d hate to be known as a bad customer so soon after moving to town.”
River wasn’t sure why she felt so uneasy all of a sudden. Something felt inexplicably off, a sort of nagging feeling she couldn’t quite put her finger on was hanging over her like a storm cloud. She felt quite stupid, standing there with nothing to say in front of the shop attendant, and despite her best efforts she couldn't get her brain to formulate anything to say past, “I’m sorry, its just– the way you talk. You speak as if I should know you or something?”
wickedpotions:
IVY WAS AS CAREFUL AND PRECIOUS AS SHE WAS WITH ANY PLANT , but she suspected that sam was watching her closely . Not in the way that men usually watch her closely , but rather because these plants clearly meant a lot to him . She could understand that , could understand wanting to have something that reminded you of home in a town like this . She respected that , among many other things she respected in Sam . ❝ They’re very beautiful . Are all the plants on your home world this beautiful ? ❞ It was probably a bad question , seeing as Ivy considered all plants beautiful . But she was curious what he thought of them all . Especially since she trusted him to see the beauty in plants as well .
THERE WERE A FEW THINGS IVY WANTED TO TRY . modifying clay with different nutrients was the top of her list . Adding crushed bones , different compost materials , even putting them with different plants that might give them the nutrients they needed . ❝ Obviously I’ll be careful . If you don’t mind , I’ll take a few cuttings from these ones and regrow them , that way you can still have these ones that you maintain and we don’t risk the fully grown ones . ❞
These plants meant more to Sam than he fully understood. Of course, he loved everything in his shop whether it was from Middle Earth or not, but this was different somehow. He knew in his heart that it was important to him.
“I think they are. Maybe not as gorgeous as these are meant to be, but quite beautiful indeed. The soil there seems to be richer than most anything here. These are from the most beautiful lands on the east continent of Arda. They’re called—“ he broke off, the name of them dancing on the tip of his tongue, but not coming to him. He looked a little confused when this happened. After another two attempts, he shook his head in dismissal. “That sounds like a good idea. I really appreciate your help, Miss Ivy.”

ZSASZ COCKED HIS HEAD SLIGHTLY TO THE SIDE. he took the woman’s words as a compliment, even if he hadn’t been expecting them. ❝I don’t think everyone would agree with you there, but most of them are … stuck up in their ideas and morals. People who are willing to look past that tend to think I’m pretty smart though.❞
HE KNEW HIS STUFF. he knew weapons, he knew how to kill. You could put him in an empty room and he could still come up with three ways to murder someone else. At least. People like Jimbo wouldn’t appreciate that. Or Slim Jim would pretend he didn’t appreciate it because he’s ❛morally❜ ❛superior❜. Whatever that was supposed to mean. ❝ It certainly fits you well. Looks like it was something you were meant to have. And in this town, you can’t ever be too careful when it comes to protecting yourself. Most things take it as a - stay outta my way and I’ll stay outta yours. But sometimes things get weird. ❞

With a small laugh, Yennefer shook her head in amusement, “Yes, well, most people tend not to agree with me on many of my standpoints. No surprise there.”
While she absently examined the other weapons on the table, she thought on his words. How were people here managing to unknowingly spew things that boiled down to be about destiny? Even if it was a figure of speech, Yennefer was starting to hate the idea of ‘meant to be,’ even with something as minute as a blade. It didn’t crush her spirits too much, as she was much too pleased with her find.
His advice made well enough sense; it was similar to how certain cities were back on The Continent. People were still people, after all. Her hands retreated from the weaponry, and fingers tapped against the edge of the counter, “You sound like you speak from experience. What sort of weird?”

KATE FINISHED WIPING DOWN YESTERDAY’S FACTOID OFF THE MINI CHALKBOARD SHE’D BOUGHT, and thumbed through her phone for the next one. It was one of her favorite bits of the White Rabbit during Pride Month - getting to share information to the community. When did the first gay bar open? 1936 - Mona’s 440 Club in San Francisco. The bell chiming pulled Kate’s attention away from the board, as she smiled at the woman who walked in.
❝ Welcome! We’re not too packed right now, but be warned - it’s poetry night tonight and I’ve had a lot of people promise to come. ❞

River had not had much time to explore town since she had arrived a few months back. Her job kept her busy making lesson plans, grading papers, and coming up with engaging activities for her students. She had heard people reference places here and there, and felt it was high time she actually got around to visiting some of them for herself.
Having decided to go to the White Rabbit after work was one of the best ideas she’d had in a long while. Upon entering it was easy to see why people liked the place so much. She couldn’t remember the last time she had been individually greeted when walking into a bar (but to be completely fair— River didn’t remember much of anything).
“Poetry night?” River flashed a smile, “I had no idea. How exciting!”
wickedpotions:
REMUS FELT RELIEF WITH THE MAN. he wasn’t asking many questions, and was willing to help him through this. Remus was more worried about the potion part of the wolfsbane than the plant upkeep. He’d always been better at herbology than potions. But raising plants on your own wasn’t the same as being walked through the steps by a professor.
HE GAVE THE MAN A SMALL, THANKFUL SMILE. ❝ i’d really appreciate that. I don’t want to jip you out of your money or plants though. If I kill them, I’m happy to buy new ones. ❞ He carefully ran his fingers around the pot of the wolfsbane plants. It was strange, being reliant on a poison to help him. He watched the valerian plant get placed down as well. ❝ Really. I really really appreciate it. I don’t have a brown thumb, but I’ve heard mint can be a temperamental plant. ❞
TWO PLANTS HERE. no price tags. ❝ How much will it be for these two and say - the mint and sage this trip? ❞
Generous as always, Sam shook his head a bit in a dismissive gesture. He had said it was for medical reasons, and a plant or two wasn’t going to cost him much at all. The Nursery was a decently popular place, after all.
“Ah, it's alright. I don’ mind it. ‘The world could always do with more good in it’ my old Gaffer used to say. Besides, it keeps the customers coming back, you know?” With a kind smile he began to make his way behind the counter. “It isn’t too temperamental if you know how to handle it correctly, you see. Alls it needs is room to branch out. It can get a bit out of hand if you aren’t careful. It likes to branch out all over.”
After a brief demonstration on how to handle each of the plants on the counter, Sam tidied up the bits of dirt that had escaped the pots. Dusting the mess into a small waste bin kept behind the counter, he looked the items over. He pressed a few buttons on the register before looking back at him. “Right, should be 36 even.”
⌘ Follow Up Questionnaire of Midna Twili⌘
Restate your name and living situation.
midna | Midna Twili. I live in an townhouse on Duffryn Way on my own.
How long have you been in Sallow Hills?
m | I’ve been here for four-ish months-- since February.
How well would you say you are handling your homesickness?
m | I’m not particularly homesick at all. I miss my people, of course, but this place is much more exciting and freeing than the Twilight often allowed me to be. Besides, Link is here, and that helps quell any of the nerves.
Would you ever want to leave?
m | I’m not sure. I don’t want to leave Link and Zelda behind again. They’re my best friends.
How would you describe your satisfaction with the town itself?
m | Its a fine place. Not my first choice, but its decent enough. I do wish there were more fun things to do around here, though. You spook one resident, you’ve spooked them all, ya know?
Any other comments, questions, or other tidbits you would like to add?
m | Nope! I really don’t have the time to waste thinking of bs to add to your little question packet.

Catra stared at Midna with no hint of friendliness in xir eyes, but after her explanation, xe decided it might be best to be a little less hostile.
“Oh,” xe said. “Well, okay. That makes sense I guess.”
Xe were silent for a moment before speaking again.
“I’m Catra. I only got here a couple of days ago,” xe said. “They all said I couldn’t leave, but… I had to try. I had to try to get back to her.”
Catra looked at her, watching for her reaction, and also not elaborating on who the “her” was that xe mentioned.
“What were you doing out in the woods anyways? Everyone in town says it’s dangerous. Not that I’m scared. I just know most people like to avoid dangerous things.”
Midna looked at xem, perplexed for a moment, and just where most people would have asked about the person xe was trying to return to, the redhead tilted her head to the side, “Catra? That's a strange name. You aren’t from this world then, are you?” There was a weird air to the woman. She spoke with a formality, yet her body and actions were relaxed-- bordering on overly so. She quickly followed up with a reassurance, not wanting to completely scare the stranger off. “I’m not either.”
She shrugged at the question, not knowing the answer for herself. Midna was a “night owl” as they called it around here. She felt more at home in the dark, though she wasn’t as homesick these days.
“I’ve faced much scarier things than live in this forest. I’m wary, of course. I’m not dumb enough to think myself invincible, but I enjoy exploring by the light of the moon,” a light smile tugged at her lips, and she pointed up at it. “Its pretty tonight, no?”
