“Ah I am sorry about that. I’m Zelda. It’s a pleasure to meet you” the brunette said and smiled softly as they looked at him. He seemed to be a sweetheart and that was a nice change compared to some of the people she had ran into in recent days. People who just assumed that they could stop her just because she worked as a model. It was disheartening, truth be told.
“And holding onto your arm would be nice. Once again thank you so much for being so kind” hooking their arms around his, Zelda took a deep breath in order to make her spinning head somewhat stable.

“Well, its nice to meet you as well,” Sam grinned back at her as they began to walk up the street. He liked them already. In all honesty, he couldn’t fathom the idea of people swarming him in the street like that. What Hobbit would? He would rather stay hidden away indoors forever than have to face that regularly. “Ah don’t mention it, I’m glad to help.” Not wanting to intrude, but still curious, he asked the most prominent question in his mind, “So you have to deal with things like that often? How do you manage it?”
In order to help maintain her balance, he didn’t walk too fast. It took a bit of concentration as he had always had the nasty habit of stumbling over his own feet. As they approached the café, Sam opened the door to let them in first.
ofmvoonlight:
It would be a long process but as long as they had people supporting them, they knew that everything would be okay. The wounds had healed beautifully and it was comforting to know that. The time she had spent at the hospital had not been for nothing. Even though all they wanted to do was get back home and lay in the comfort of Link’s arms, they knew it was better to stay in the hospital for as long as they needed.
But thankfully it only took her a month and now she was finally able to live her life again. Go to work, spend time with friends and sleep next to their boyfriend. Ah right, they would have to try and call Merlin. They missed him so it was a no brainer.
“Oh Sam” placing a hand on her chest, she smiled. “You are so sweet. I do need to get better at standing up for long periods of time”
There wouldn’t be a day seen on Earth where Sam wouldn't support Zelda with whatever they may need. He had taken a liking to them from the day they met, and only wanted the best for them. Sam would cook her and Link three meals a day if it meant she would heal faster (that was quite unrealistic, and would likely be quite bothersome for everyone involved, but the thought was what mattered).
He was overjoyed she liked the gesture. He had been slightly nervous as he wasn’t sure if this was a social norm shared between their worlds or not. In coming to Sallow Hills he discovered many of his ways were “outdated”; he was glad to find this was not one of them.
“I just wanted to lend a hand, ‘n this is the only way I know how,” he replied, smiling back at her. “If you want, I can help you with making somethin’ for us. That way you can sit down if’n you need. How's that sound?”

Dorcas stifled the giggle that arose in her throat at the word “moogles.” Obviously she couldn’t mock him for it, and she’d never do such a thing. But it still made her want to giggle a little bit.
Dorcas was about to answer his question, before seeing him shift his hand and sharply remembering that she had a job to do here. She cleared her throat.
“Erm, yes, a bit. But first I think I should get this out of your hand first.”
Dorcas picked up his hand gently with her own, and then waved her wand over it with her right hand, muttering a spell. The thorn barbs gently rose into the air out his hand, and Dorcas grabbed a small container off the counter to capture them in, careful not to touch it with her own hand and then fastening it tightly with a lid before placing it aside. She’d like to take the time to study them later.
Dorcas performed a quick disinfecting spell on the wound before grabbing some gauze and wrapping his hand.
“Right, leave that on for the rest of the day, and you should be fine,” she said. “In answer to your previous question, I’d say it’s got similarities and differences. In my world wizards were hidden away from the rest of the world. We kept our magic a secret from non magical people. But here, we can perform magic out in the open and be completely honest about ourselves. Nobody really bats an eye. I really like that part. It’s nice not to have to hide. I’d say that’s the biggest difference, besides there being different sorts of magic and different magic users. Like I know some people who call themselves mages, and their spells are completely different from mine. It’s fascinating.”
Nodding, Sam gave his hand a quick look, as if he had nearly forgotten the pesky things were still there. He was surprised how little effort it took for the whole thing to be done and over with. In a moment it was like nothing happened at all. After looking at his restored hand impressed, Sam let Dorcas work on wrapping it.
“Well I knew this place was all about speedy care, but this has to be a new record,” he grinned.
It was nice to hear Dorcas didn’t have to hide anything here. Secrets were a hassle, especially such life changing ones as she kept. He knew that very well. “It is fascinating! We have magic where I’m from, but as you said the specifics differ greatly to many people in this town.”

Okay, admittedly, Midna didn’t entirely know what she was doing at first. While ruling a realm and being mayor had a lot of overlap in duties and expertise, they surely had their differences. For one, she had to teach herself how to campaign. A whole complicated mess of papers and advertising and public appearances.
Midna wasn’t dumb enough to go in completely blind. She spent a good few days researching it all in the library and via her new laptop. After a while, she felt as if she had a decent footing on the concept, so she decided that she would indeed run for office. She felt like she could do some good for this dreary place, and if worse came to worse, she would have had a fun time along the way.
That's how Midna found herself campaigning in the park under a tiny pop up tent to block off the sun. It was a nice day, which hopefully meant lots of walkers to hand fliers to.
As someone approached, Midna tucked her shoulders back, threw on a pretty smile, and held out a little metal circle in their direction, “Morning! Do you have a second to talk about our mayoral campaign? Want a button?”

MERLIN WASN’T SURE IF HE SHOULD FEEL REASSURED OR WORRIED THAT SOMEONE ELSE BRUSHED OFF THE WARNINGS . there were dangerous things in the forest , though he suspected most of those things were less dangerous than the town let on . They were territorial , and honestly weren’t humans as well ? ❝ It feels like a staple of humanity that they like to warn people away from everything , even if it’s not nearly as scary as they let on . I’ve ran into a few nasty things in the forest , but not many . Most things just like having their space . ❞
OF COURSE , HE WAS ALSO A CREATURE OF MAGICK , and that tended to ease some of the tensions between him and other creatures . They were attracted to eir magick , and more likely to let em into their space .
❝ IT IS NICE TO THINK ALONE , if you have a lot on you remind . Is home far away for you ? Or nearby ? ❞ Ey supposed that was the easiest way to phrase it . There were people from worlds so unlike this one here , and others like him who were a bit closer .
Midna looked around the surrounding trees, not out of any anxiety, but simple awareness. Her eyes were best adjusted to the dark. She spotted birds in the trees, heard the sounds of creatures foraging and settling in their homes, and saw as the intermittent breeze blew about fallen leaves. To her, it was peaceful. She was glad that Merlin wasn’t disturbing the peace. “Fair enough I suppose. I understand wanting space, that's why I came out here after all.”
It took a moment for her to figure out an answer to eir question. It was a complicated one if she really thought about it. While she had been good with science classes with her tutors, she was far from an expert. “It's a little bit of both I think. It's far away, yet just under our nose all at once. To get straight to the point, my home is the realm of shadows. A parallel one to the world of light.”
To demonstrate, she moved her hand, and one of the shadows that previously was in the shape of the small bush casting it, turned into the shape of a big dog, then a bird, then the fox that they had both been looking at. She smiled faintly at the shapes before letting them seep back to their original form. Perks of being the Twilight’s ruler. Midna shook her head as she looked back to Merlin, “But I can’t seem to slip back into the world of shadows since I got here.” She smiled then, wanting to dispel the subtle wave of sadness. “What about you? Are you from this Earth or from someplace else?”

IVY HAD NEVER BEEN ONE WHO WORRIED ABOUT MONEY. when she was younger, her parents took care of it all. She grew up privileged, and she knew that well. After she’d been changed, there were ways to make sure she had the money she needed to survive. A bat of an eye here, a push of poison there. Especially once she’d fallen in league with Selina and Harley, things got easier. Though Selina was never super happy with how much of Ivy’s money got sent out to organizations fighting deforestation and other horrendous acts. But getting a job - that was different. As much as she sometimes hated humanity, she was still part of their world, and needed to have a tie there. Working at the lab in Gotham, while having ended horribly, had been nice. And working with Sam was nice. She thought she’d have issues with not being in charge, but there had been something so genuine about him that she couldn’t push him out. He reminded her a bit of Harley, in some ways.
SHE PULLED AWAY FROM THE PLANT SHE WAS TENDING, setting the mister aside and brushing her hands off. ❝ A non-terrestrial plant? You have me intrigued, Mister Gamgee. Please, lead the way. Though I sometimes struggle to communicate with alien plants. I hope that’s not the case here, but as a warning I thought you should know. ❞ She watched him carefully, wondering if he’d ask more. She knew he was curious about her, and she didn’t mind telling him more. She trusted him, somehow and someway.
Samwise wouldn’t say what the plants were for, not yet anyways. As far as Ivy had to be concerned right now, it was just another ask from one of their usual magically inclined customers. He had nothing malicious brewing, but it was certainly a personal matter.
“Of course, I understand Miss Ivy. Not a problem at all,” he replied. He led the way to the growing tents out back of the back of the building. He stopped them in front of a tray of sad looking baby plants. It was obvious from the tools and gloves around the tray that this wasn’t for lack of trying.
Gesturing to the tray, he offered a little smile. “Right, so here it is. I’m happy to answer anything about them I can. I hope you can work your magic on them,” he paused for a moment before asking the question which had been bouncing around his head for a little while now. “Is it magic? The thing you do with the plants?”

one of my twitter mutuals has a headcanon about ciri teaching yennefer to skate, and it was too cute to pass up drawing
ofmvoonlight:
Normally he wasn’t this nervous around someone. But then again he didn’t really try and seek out conversation with other people, no he mostly tried to stay in the shadows. But not when it came to Yennefer. No when it came to her all he wanted to do was stand in the sunlight and be seen for the first time in forever. He didn’t want to just exist anymore. He wanted to actually live.
“Ah yes yes the memory thing” Geralt rolled his eyes at himself as he looked at his phone. “Tell me your number and I will write it down as a contact. I will take a picture of you and use it as my contact picture. In a way I will remember you the second I call you” he smiled.
Exhaling a laugh, Yennefer looked away for a moment. This felt so childish, so monumentally stupid. What were they doing? What did they hope to accomplish here? She hadn’t a clue where this could go, nor what she could do. Seeing Geralt like this was worse than if he was stuck on another sphere. At least he wouldn’t look at her like that, making her feel sick with every sweep of his gaze.
She gave him her number, and looked him over again. An unnatural wall was between them, and she wanted for naught more than to knock it down.
The sun was beginning to lower, casting golden rays on the back of her head, highlighting the dark curls of hair that tumbled down her shoulders. It lit his eyes too, which made her silently curse herself for not having the guts to look away for long. She could be a foolish woman. “I hope you know, I don’t do this sort of thing often.”
picturedspells:
Dorcas grinned at him, happy to receive the compliment. “Well, I’d say magic does help me do my job efficiently. Some things do take more time of course, more serious injuries and illnesses, but a simple prick like this, well-” She shrugged. “No problem at all, and I’m happy to be of service.”
Dorcas listened to him speak.
“It really is fascinating,” she agreed. She glanced at the door, not wanting to cut their conversation short, but knowing she really should get back to work and fill out the necessary paperwork for Sam’s visit… but then again, it wasn’t very busy today, so what’s the harm of staying a little extra longer to chat with one of her favorite literary figures? It wasn’t every day you got to talk to somebody from Middle Earth.
“What’s magic like where you’re from?” she asked, knowing the answer but eager to hear about it from someone who had actually witnessed it.
Samwise was more than happy to stay and chat for a while. He was always content to chatter on for as long as anyone would let him. He rested his newly fixed hand back in his lap, thinking how to answer Dorcas’ question.
“Magic is something the wizards and fair elves use. I haven't seen either of those over here, well not yet. There were originally five wizards that came to middle earth from the undying lands. There's only two left now. And few of the fair elves remain too. The magic is breathtaking. Beautiful.” He didn't want to bring up the darker parts of magic he had seen. The business with the war of the ring was heavy, and this was not the time nor place to bring it up, especially to a stranger. “I like seeing it being used more commonly here, though. As I said before, its stunning.”

midna | Midna Twili. I live in an townhouse on Duffryn Way on my own.
How long have you been in Sallow Hills?
m | I’ve been here for four-ish months-- since February.
How well would you say you are handling your homesickness?
m | I’m not particularly homesick at all. I miss my people, of course, but this place is much more exciting and freeing than the Twilight often allowed me to be. Besides, Link is here, and that helps quell any of the nerves.
Would you ever want to leave?
m | I’m not sure. I don’t want to leave Link and Zelda behind again. They’re my best friends.
How would you describe your satisfaction with the town itself?
m | Its a fine place. Not my first choice, but its decent enough. I do wish there were more fun things to do around here, though. You spook one resident, you’ve spooked them all, ya know?
Any other comments, questions, or other tidbits you would like to add?
m | Nope! I really don’t have the time to waste thinking of bs to add to your little question packet.
